- the use of RFID devices in the vehicle registration plates involves the external placement of a RFID device on the vehicle registration plate of a motor vehicle, or the fabrication of the vehicle registration plate, in such a way that the RFID device is inserted between, at least, two sheets which form the vehicle registration plate, it being arranged between said two sheets a spacer substantially with the same thickness of the RFID device. It is described in the patent application WO 2008/020771 an example of a vehicle registration plate that includes a spacer as said before.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle registration plate for RFID applications, which has a minimal thickness and is formed by a posterior metallic or plastic sheet covered by an anterior plastic sheet or film and a RFID device arranged between the two sheets, or between one sheet and one film, in order that the vehicle registration plate not only presents a substantially flat frontal surface but also that it presents no spacer at all between the two sheets, or between one sheet and one film, that form the vehicle registration plate, and said RFID device being inserted in such a way in a recess or cut-out made on the posterior sheet that lies protruded from its rear surface in the rear direction, so the front surface of the front sheet or film is substantially flat, so that the insertion of said RFID device can not be noticed, and the remaining of said rear surface, with the exception of the insertion site of said RFID device also substantially flat.
- the present invention consists therefore of a vehicle registration plate comprising at least a rear sheet, which presents a recess or cut-out, a substantially flat anterior sheet or film, characterised in that said recess or cut-out is adapted to receive a RFID device which has an antenna, which lies protruded in the rear direction of the vehicle registration plate.

- the RFID transponder 4a might have or not a battery 4d intended to supply power to the integrated circuit microchip 4c.
- the antenna 4b consists of a thin film antenna, arranged on a plastic support substrate or of other adequate material to operate on said metallic sheet. Said transponder 4a transmits or retro transmits radio signals to the interrogator devices.

Abstract
L'invention concerne une plaque d'immatriculation (1, 2) de véhicule équipée d'un dispositif électronique RFID. La présente invention concerne en particulier, mais pas exclusivement, une plaque d'immatriculation de véhicule équipée d'un dispositif RFID comportant une antenne, la plaque d'immatriculation de véhicule comprenant au moins une feuille postérieure (1) qui présente un évidement ou une découpe (2), et au moins une feuille antérieure ou un film antérieur (3) sensiblement plat(e), et étant caractérisée en ce que ledit évidement ou ladite découpe (2) est conçu(e) pour recevoir un dispositif RFID comportant une antenne et qui fait saillie vers l'arrière de la plaque d'immatriculation (1, 2) du véhicule.
