Abstract

 本発明の表示装置は、筐体の上面に光透過状に配設された結像光学素子(マイクロミラーアレイM)と、結像光学素子の下面に対して所定角度傾いて配設されたディスプレイDと、情報保持体(カードC)が保有する情報を非接触で読み取るリーダRと、筐体上面の物体の有無を検知するセンサSと、上記ディスプレイの表示を制御する制御手段とを備え、上記制御手段が、リーダRから伝達される情報保持体の情報に基づいて、情報保持体に応じた画像Iを準備し、センサSから伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記準備した画像Iを空間像I'としてタイミングよく表示する。これにより、本発明の表示装置は、結像光学素子の周囲に配置された情報保持体に対応する立体的な二次元映像を、装置の上方に適切なタイミングで、臨場感豊かに表示することができる。

Description

表示装置
 本発明は、ディスプレイを収容する筐体の上面に載置された物体(情報保持体)を認識して、この情報保持体に対応した立体的な二次元映像を装置上方の空間に投影する表示装置に関するものである。
 従来、立体像を含む画像を表示する画像表示面(液晶表示パネル等)の手前側(鑑賞者側)に、この表示面から離間して、空間に上記画像を結像する画像伝達パネル(結像光学素子)を配置した画像表示装置が知られている(例えば、特許文献1を参照)。
 これに対して、本出願人は、特開2014-115606号公報や特許文献2等において、ディスプレイを収容するケースと、ディスプレイを所定角度で傾けて載置する載置台と、パネル状の結像光学素子とを備え、上記ディスプレイから投射され上記結像光学素子を透過した光により、上記ディスプレイに表示された映像の投影像が、この結像光学素子の上側に浮かび上がった状態で結像する表示装置を、既に提案している。
 さらに、本出願人は、特開2014-126682号公報および特開2014-126683号公報において、上記表示装置の上面に載置されるカードやフィギュア等の情報保持体(ICタグやバーコード等を備える情報入力体)に連動して、この情報保持体に応じた立体的な二次元映像を、装置の上方にリアルタイムで効果的に表示することのできる表示装置を、提案している。
 これらの提案にかかる表示装置は、図10に示すように、筐体の上面に配置された結像光学素子(マイクロミラーアレイM)の周囲に配置される平板状の情報保持体(カードC等の情報入力体)が保有する識別情報(ICタグT)を、認識手段(リーダR)で読み取り、その情報を認識手段からディスプレイDの制御手段に伝達することにより、表示面Daが結像光学素子に対して所定角度α傾斜した状態で配設されたディスプレイDに、情報保持体に応じた映像(画像I)を表示させ、この映像の投影像を、上記結像光学素子を介して、筐体の上側の空間に浮かび上がる空間像I’として表示するものである。なお、図10中の符号PはマイクロミラーアレイMの素子面を示し、MaおよびMbはそれぞれ、マイクロミラーアレイMの上面および下面を示す。

 ところで、被験者によるモニターテスト等を通じて、上記表示装置の使用に関する一つの懸念が指摘されている。それは、カードやフィギュア等の情報保持体を、表示装置(ケース)の上面に載置した際、空間像に違和感を感じて臨場感等を得にくい場合があるという問題である。そこで、本発明者がこの現象の原因を追求してみると、例えば、ゲームカードを上面に載置したが、空間像がなかなか浮かび上がってこない等、これらの情報保持体を上面に置くタイミングと、立体像(空間像)が上面から浮き上がってくるタイミングが大きくずれると、空間像に対する驚きやリアル感が損なわれ、鑑賞者が感情移入しにくい(すなわち、「作り物」的なイメージが強くなり、興醒めする)場合があることがわかってきた。ここに、上記表示装置の改善の余地がある。
 本発明は、このような事情に鑑みなされたもので、結像光学素子の周囲に配置された情報保持体に対応する立体的な二次元映像を、装置の上方に適切なタイミングで臨場感豊かに表示することのできる表示装置の提供をその目的とする。
 上記の目的を達成するため、本発明の表示装置は、ディスプレイを収容する筐体と、上記筐体の上面に光透過状に配設された結像光学素子と、この結像光学素子の下側に、結像光学素子の下面に対してその表示面が所定角度傾斜した状態で配設されたディスプレイと、上記筐体の上面に載置される情報保持体と、上記情報保持体が保有する情報を非接触で読み取るリーダと、上記筐体上面の物体の有無を検知するセンサと、上記ディスプレイに映像を表示させる機能を有し、上記リーダとセンサからの信号に基づき上記映像を制御する制御手段と、を備える表示装置であって、上記制御手段が、上記リーダから伝達される情報保持体の情報と上記センサから伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、下記(A)の待機状態と下記(B)の表示状態とを切り替えるという構成をとる。
(A)上記情報保持体が筐体上面に当接する前であって上記リーダによる信号の読み取り可能領域内に侵入した際、このリーダで上記情報保持体が保有する個別情報を読み取り、リーダから制御手段に伝達される個別情報に基づいて、上記制御手段が上記情報保持体に対応する映像を準備する待機状態。
(B)上記情報保持体が筐体上面に当接している間、上記センサから制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記制御手段が上記準備した映像をディスプレイに表示させ、この映像の投影像が、上記結像光学素子を介して筐体上側の空間に浮かび上がった状態で結像する表示状態。
 すなわち、本発明者は、前記課題を解決するため研究を重ね、その結果、情報保持体の識別(個別)情報を読み取るリーダの他に、その情報保持体の当接(上面への密着)を検知するセンサを別途設け、これらからの検出信号を組み合わせて利用することにより、この情報保持体に応じた映像(静止画や動画等)を、鑑賞者にとって最適なタイミングで効果的に提供できることを見出し、本発明に到達した。
 なお、本発明における筐体上面と情報保持体との「当接」とは、上面と保持体との間隙が0(零)の「接触」状態の他、間隙が2mm以下の「密着」した状態を包含する。また、上記「リーダによる信号の読み取り可能な」とは、ICカードに関するISO/IEC 10536に記載の「近接型」に準ずる、リーダと情報保持体(ICタグ)との距離が10cm以内で定常的な交信が可能な状態(実際はそれ以上の距離で一方向通信が可能な距離を含む)を指す。
 本発明の表示装置によれば、情報を非接触で読み取るリーダから得られる信号情報(情報保持体固有の情報)と、筐体上面の物体の有無を検知するセンサから得られる信号情報(情報保持体の検出信号)とを用いて、筐体上面に近接する情報保持体の個別情報を読み取り、この情報保持体に対応する映像を準備する待機状態と、上記準備した映像を結像光学素子を介して筐体上側の空間に結像させる表示状態とを、素早く切り替えることにより、上記情報保持体に対応する立体的な二次元映像を、装置の上方に適切なタイミングで浮かび上がらせて表示することができる。これにより、本発明の表示装置は、上記情報保持体に応じた効果的な空間像を、その空間像があたかもそこに実在するかのごとく、最適なタイミングで臨場感豊かに表示することができる。
 なお、本発明の表示装置のなかでも、上記情報保持体が平板状で、かつ、その一部に上記結像光学素子の平面形状に対応した光透過部が設けられているものは、上記投影像が、この光透過部を透して結像するように構成されている。この構成により、カード等の平板状情報保持体が、上記投影像(空間像)と結像光学素子上面との間に視差を生じる比較対象物となるため、空間像が鑑賞者からより視認され易く、より鮮明に、かつ、より臨場感に富んだ立体的な映像として、感じることができる。しかも、上記表示装置は、先の構成により、カード等の平板状情報保持体を装置上面に載置すると同時に、空間像がこの平板状情報保持体の内部(光透過部)からタイミング良く浮き出てくるようになっている。これらの相乗効果により、本発明の表示装置は、上記平板状情報保持体に対応した空間像を、より印象深く見せることができる。
 また、本発明の表示装置のなかでも、上記結像光学素子の下面に対する上記ディスプレイの表示面の傾斜角が、30°以上90°未満に設定されているものは、上記表示される立体的二次元画像を、より浮遊感の強い立体的な画像として表示することができる。
 なお、本発明の表示装置で用いることのできる「結像光学素子」としては、被投影物の鏡像を実像として結像させる屈折型結像素子(フレネルレンズ等を含む各種レンズや、アフォーカル光学系のマイクロミラー,コーナーリフレクタ等)をあげることができる。これら屈折型結像素子のなかでも、その外形形状がパネル状あるいは平板状で、かつ、その表裏面(上下面)が比較的平坦でフラットなものが好ましい。また、上記結像光学素子の「上面」,「下面」とは、ケース,ハウジング等の筐体の外側にあたる面、または、内側にあたる面を示し、結像の基準(光路の屈折点)となる結像光学素子の「素子面」とほぼ平行な面を指す。

 つぎに、本発明の実施の形態を、図面にもとづいて詳しく説明する。ただし、本発明は、この実施の形態に限定されるものではない。
 図1は、本発明の表示装置の基本的な構成を説明する図であり、図10に示す従来例とは、センサSを備えている点が異なる。なお、図1では、本発明の原理のみを簡潔に説明するために、ケース,ハウジング等の部材や、配線,電装品等の部品の図示を省略している。また、識別情報を保有する平板状の情報保持体(図中のカードC)は、その厚みを誇張して描いている。
 本実施形態における表示装置は、図1に示すように、パネル状のマイクロミラーアレイ結像光学素子(以下「マイクロミラーアレイM」という)と、フラットパネルディスプレイ(以下、ディスプレイD)と、このディスプレイDに表示される映像(画像I)を制御する制御手段(図示せず)とを備え、マイクロミラーアレイMに設けられた多数のコーナーリフレクタによる光の反射により、マイクロミラーアレイMの下面Mb側に所定角度(α)傾斜した状態で配設されたディスプレイDの表示面Daに表示された画像Iを、このマイクロミラーアレイMの上面Ma側の空間に、斜め状に立ち上がる空間像I’として、浮かび上がるように結像させるものである。
 また、上記表示装置は、その上面が、情報保持体(カードC)を載置してそれが保有する識別情報を読み取るための情報入力面(操作面)となっており、上記マイクロミラーアレイMの周囲には、載置されるカードCの識別(個別)情報を非接触で読み取るためのリーダRと、上記カードC等の情報保持体が装置上面に当接したことを検出するための、物体の有無を検知するセンサSと、が配設されている。
 そして、上記表示装置は、上記リーダRから制御手段に伝達される情報保持体(カードC)の情報と、上記センサSから制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、カードCの載置前に、上記制御手段が、装置の筐体上面に近接するカードCの個別情報(ICタグT)を読み取り、このカードCに対応する画像IをディスプレイDに準備する待機状態と、上記準備した画像IをマイクロミラーアレイMを介して筐体上側の空間に空間像I’として結像させる表示状態とを、素早く切り替えるようになっている。これが、本発明の表示装置の特徴である。
 上記構成の表示装置によれば、上記リーダRから制御手段に伝達される情報保持体(カードC)の情報と、上記センサSから制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号とを利用することにより、カードCが装置上面に当接する前であって上記リーダRによる信号の読み取り可能領域(おおよそ10cm以内)に侵入した際、このリーダRで上記カードCが保有する個別情報を読み取り、リーダRから制御手段に伝達される個別情報に基づいて、上記制御手段が、ディスプレイDに表示する、上記カードCに対応する映像(画像I)を予め準備することができる(待機状態)。また、続けて、上記カードCを装置上面に当接させた際は、上記センサSから制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記制御手段が、上記映像(画像I)を直ぐさまディスプレイDに表示させ、この画像Iの投影像が、マイクロミラーアレイMおよびカードCに設けられた開口Ca(光透過部)を透して、装置上側に空間像I’として表示される(表示状態)。
 このように、本実施形態の表示装置は、上記制御手段が、装置の筐体上面に近接するカードCの個別情報を読み取り、このカードCに対応する画像IをディスプレイDに準備する待機状態と、上記準備した画像IをマイクロミラーアレイMを介して筐体上側の空間に空間像I’として結像させる表示状態とを、素早く切り替えることができる。しかも、上記空間像I’の表示は、上記物体(カードC)の検出信号に基づいて、カードCの載置(上面への当接)と同時に行われるため、観察者Eは、上記空間像I’が、あたかもこのカードCの内部(光透過部)からタイミングよく浮き出てきたように感じられるようになっている。これにより、本発明の表示装置は、上記情報保持体(カードC等)に応じた効果的な空間像I’を、その空間像I’があたかもそこに実在するかのごとく、最適なタイミングで臨場感豊かに表示することができる。
 上記表示装置を構成する各部分について詳しく説明する。この表示装置に使用する結像光学素子としては、フレネルレンズ等を含む各種レンズや、アフォーカル光学系のマイクロミラー,コーナーリフレクタ等の屈折型結像素子を用いることができる。なかでも、本実施形態においては、図5~図9に示すような、素子面Pに対して面対称の位置に像を結ぶ、マイクロミラーアレイM(コーナーリフレクタアレイ)が好適に使用される。なお、特徴的な構成を有する上記マイクロミラーアレイMの詳細な構造は、後記で詳しく説明する。また、このマイクロミラーアレイMは、任意の固定部材等により、鑑賞者の視点(感覚)に対して略水平になるように配設されている。
 上記画像Iを表示するフラットパネルディスプレイ(ディスプレイD)は、図1のように、上記マイクロミラーアレイMの下面Mbに対して、鑑賞者の手前側(正面E側)から奥側に向かって所定の傾斜角αで下向きに傾くように配置されており、上記マイクロミラーアレイMを介して投影される空間像I’が、鑑賞者の方向を向くようになっている。
 なお、上記画像Iの表示に用いるディスプレイDとしては、バックライトを備える液晶表示パネル(LCD)の他、プラズマディスプレイパネル,有機EL表示パネル等、全可視光波長にわたってなるべく偏りのない「白色」と、非表示時の「黒色」とを、コントラスト良く再現できるディスプレイパネルを使用することができる。さらに、ディスプレイDは、携帯電話または携帯情報端末等の表示部であってもよく、具体的には、上記ディスプレイDとして、スマートフォン,タブレット型PC,デジタルフォトフレームや、携帯型ゲーム機,携帯型ブックリーダー,PDA,電子辞書等のうち、表示部Daが常時露出する(カバーされていない)タイプのなかで、その表示面Daの寸法が、上記マイクロミラーアレイMの大きさ(平面形状)に対応するサイズのものを使用することができる。
 また、上記ディスプレイDの傾斜角αは、この表示装置を利用する鑑賞者の姿勢や距離等を考慮して、30°以上90°未満(30°≦α<90°)に設定される。
 つぎに、マイクロミラーアレイMの上側に載置される平板状の情報保持体(カードC)は、全体として平板状で、図2,図4に示すように、その略中央部に、上記マイクロミラーアレイMの平面形状に対応する光透過部(開口Ca)が設けられており、この開口Caを透して、上記空間像I’が結像するようになっている。なお、カードCの光透過部(開口Ca)の形状は、マイクロミラーアレイMの上面Ma形状に近い形状で、それより若干小さなあるいは大きな形状とする場合がある。また、正方形状の他、円形や楕円形、あるいは、六角形状等の他の多角形状としてもよい。さらに、この開口Caには、ガラスやプラスチック等からなる透明板を、嵌め込んでおいてもよい。
 上記カードCとしては、紙,プラスチック等からなるシート状もしくは薄板状のものを使用することができ、具体的な例としては、ゲーム等の娯楽用カード,メッセージカード,教育用カード,ショッピングカード,認証用カード,情報交換用カードや、絵本等の書籍,アルバム等があげられる。
 また、上記カードCには、上記表示装置のリーダRに対応する位置(図1における符号Tが指し示す位置)に、このカードCを識別するための固有の識別情報(個別情報)として、ICタグ(RFID)Tや、二次元または一次元のバーコード(印刷)等が配置されている。そして、先にも述べたように、対応するリーダRにより、これらのICタグTやバーコード等が保有する情報を読み出し、その情報が、有線または無線通信等により、ディスプレイDの制御手段に伝達される。
 上記識別情報を読み出すリーダRとしては、カードCにICタグTが用いられている場合は、HFまたはUHF帯域等のアンテナを備えるICタグ(RFID)リーダやNCFリーダ(リーダ/ライタを含む)が使用され、カードCにバーコード(印刷)が用いられている場合は、C-MOSイメージセンサ(カメラ)や光学スキャナ等の光学式センサが使用される。なお、ICタグ(RFID)リーダやNCFリーダ装置の場合は、上記カードCが装置上面に当接する前に情報を読み出すために、ISO/IEC 10536に記載の「近接型」に準ずる、リーダと情報保持体(ICタグT)との距離が10cmかそれ以上で定常的な交信(データの読み出し)が可能なリーダ装置が用いられる。
 そして、装置上面に上記カードC等の情報保持体が当接したことを検出するためのセンサSとしては、感圧スイッチ等の各種電磁的なON-OFFスイッチや、カードCとの距離を測定することのできる赤外線センサ,イメージセンサ等を用いることができる。なかでも、構造がシンプルで動作が安定しており、上記カードCの当接(存在)の有無を端的に知ることのできる赤外線センサが、好適に用いられる。なお、上記センサSは、カードC等の情報保持体の当接を検知できる位置であれば、装置上面または装置上面縁部のどこに設置してもよいが、確実にするためには、マイクロミラーアレイMの近傍の位置に配設することが望ましい。
 なお、上記実施形態では、カードCの情報を非接触で読み取るためのリーダRと、カードC等の情報保持体の装置上面への当接を検知するセンサSとを、鑑賞者E側(手前側)の上面に配設したが、設置位置はこれに限定されるものではなく、リーダRは、例えば装置(ケース)の内部等、上記カードC等の情報保持体と交信可能な適宜の位置に配置すればよい。また、センサSは、結像光学素子の周囲や装置の上面縁部等、装置上面と当接する情報保持体の底面形状を考慮して、その存在の有無を検知し易い適宜の位置に配置することができる。
 また、上記実施形態では、装置上面に載置される情報保持体がゲームカード等の平板状またはシート状のものを例に説明したが、上記情報保持体としては、フィギュアやモデル等、ICタグやバーコード等の個別情報を有する立体物でも使用することができる。ただし、これら立体物の場合は、空間像I’を通過させる開口(光透過部)を設けることができない場合がある。また、情報保持体の有無を検知するセンサSは、上記立体物の底面形状およびその載置位置を考慮して配置する必要がある。一方、立体物の場合は、空間像I’との間に立体的な視差が生じるため、平板状の情報保持体よりも、空間像I’に視点(ピント)を合わせ易くなり、カードC等の平板状情報保持体よりも、立体感,浮遊感や臨場感等がより向上するというメリットもある。
 つぎに、より具体的な実施の形態(第1実施形態)について説明する。
 図2は、本発明の第1実施形態の表示装置の外観斜視図であり、図3は、この表示装置の構成を示す一部断面図である。
 この第1実施形態の表示装置10も、パネル状のマイクロミラーアレイ結像光学素子(マイクロミラーアレイ1)と、フラットパネルディスプレイ(液晶ディスプレイ2)とを備え、マイクロミラーアレイ1に多数設けられたマイクロミラー(コーナーリフレクタ)による光の反射により、マイクロミラーアレイ1の下面1b側に配置された液晶ディスプレイ2に表示された映像(画像I)を、このマイクロミラーアレイ1の上面1a側の空間に、斜め状に立ち上がる空間像I’として、空間に浮かび上がるように結像させるものである。上記表示装置10も、上記液晶ディスプレイ2が、その表示面2aをマイクロミラーアレイ1の下面1bに対して所定角度α(30°以上90°未満)で傾斜させた状態で、載置台3上に載置されている。なお、ケース6の上面(天板)6aは、カードC等の平板状情報保持体を載置できるよう、略平坦になっている。
 また、上記表示装置10は、前記実施形態で説明した表示装置と同様、情報保持体が載置されるケース6の上面6aに、平板状の情報保持体(カードC)の保有する個別情報(ICタグT)を非接触で読み取るためのICタグリーダ(リーダ/ライタ)4と、上面6a上の物体の有無(当接)を検知する赤外線センサ5とが配設されており、液晶ディスプレイ2には、表示面2aに表示される映像(画像I)を制御する制御手段(図示省略)が内蔵されている。
 より詳しく説明すると、液晶ディスプレイ2を載置するための載置面3aを備える載置台3は、上記載置面3aを兼用する板状部材3bと、基台3c,3cとからなり、略箱状(暗箱状)のケース6の内部に配設されている。上記板状部材3bは、図3のように、ケース6の底面6bおよびマイクロミラーアレイ1の下面1b(または素子面P)に対して所定角度α傾いた状態で、上記基台3c,3cに支持されており、その上面が、液晶ディスプレイ2の載置面3aとなっている。そして、この載置台3の載置面3a上に、LCD等のフラットパネルディスプレイを載置することにより、その表示面2aが、マイクロミラーアレイ1の素子面Pに対してα°傾いた状態で保持されるようになっている。なお、ケース6内における上記載置面3aの、マイクロミラーアレイ1の下面1b(素子面P)に対する傾斜角αは、マイクロミラーアレイ1による結像が最適となるように調整されており、通常30°以上90°未満、好ましくは40°以上80°以下に設定されている。
 また、上記液晶ディスプレイ2および載置台3を収容する筐体(ケース6)は、略箱形(ボックス状)で、その上面6aに設けられた開口に、略正方形状のマイクロミラーアレイ1が嵌め入れられている(図2参照)。なお、図2および図3は、このケース6の上面(天板)6aの上に、前記実施形態と同様のカードCが既に載置された状態を示している。
 そして、第1実施形態の表示装置10は、観察者E等が、用意されたカードCを装置(ケース6)に近づけ、その上面6aの所定位置に載置している間、上記ICタグリーダ4から制御手段に伝達されるカードCの情報と、上記赤外線センサ5から制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号とに基づき、立体的な空間像I’が上面6aの上側に浮かび上がって表示されるようになっている。
 すなわち、まず、表示装置10は、カードCが、ケース上面6aに当接する前であって上記ICタグリーダ4による信号の読み取り可能領域(ICタグリーダ4との距離がおおよそ10cm以内)に侵入した際、このICタグリーダ4で上記カードCが保有する個別情報を読み取り、その個別情報に基づいて、上記制御手段が、上記カードCに対応する画像Iを予め準備する(待機状態)。また、その後、上記カードCがケース上面6aに載置された(当接した)際は、赤外線センサ5から伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記制御手段が、上記画像Iをすぐさま液晶ディスプレイ2に表示させ、この画像Iの投影像が、マイクロミラーアレイ1およびカードCに設けられた開口Ca(光透過部)を透して、装置上側に空間像I’として表示される(表示状態)。なお、この空間像I’の表示は、カードCを載置している間、継続される。
 その後、上記カードCの使用が終了し、ケース上面6aから取り除かれた際、上記表示装置10は、前記実施形態と同様、赤外線センサ5から伝達される物体検出信号(の途絶)に基づいて、上記画像Iの表示を即座に中止する。そして、ICタグリーダ4は、次のカードC等の近接を待つ間(読み取り可能領域内に入ってくるまで)、識別情報の読み取り操作(待機状態のループ)を繰り返し行うようになっている。
 上記構成によっても、カードCのケース上面6aへの当接前に、ICタグリーダ4でカードCが保有する個別情報を読み取り、その個別情報に基づいて制御手段が液晶ディスプレイ2に表示する画像Iを予め準備する「待機状態」と、カードCの当接にタイミングを合わせて、上記画像Iを液晶ディスプレイ2に表示させ、この画像Iの投影像をケース6の上側に空間像I’として表示する「表示状態」とを、即座に切り替えることができる。したがって、本実施形態の表示装置10も、上記情報保持体(カードC等)に応じた効果的な空間像I’を、最適なタイミングで臨場感豊かに表示することができる。
 なお、実際は、赤外線センサ5による情報保持体(カードC等)の検出と、液晶ディスプレイ2による画像Iの表示開始には、信号伝達経路や信号処理等に由来する若干のタイムラグが存在する。そのため、上記赤外線センサ5による当接(接触)の検出感度は、距離0(零)より少し大きな値、具体的には距離5mm以下や距離2mm以下等に設定することが好ましい。これにより、検出タイムラグの影響を回避することができる。
 また、液晶パネル等、バックライトの点灯に時間のかかるフラットパネルディスプレイを利用している場合は、情報保持体載置前に上記画像Iを予め準備する段階で、液晶ディスプレイ2のバックライトを予め点灯させた状態でこの画像Iの上に一面黒色の画像を重ねて(液晶シャッターを閉じて)表示させておき、上記赤外線センサ5の検出信号に合わせて、上の黒色画像を除去する(液晶シャッターを開ける)方法を採用してもよい。これにより、点灯タイムラグの影響を低減することができる。
 つぎに、第2実施形態として、上記略箱形のケース6に代えて、開放形の筐体(ハウジング7)を用いる場合を説明する。図4は、本発明の第2実施形態の表示装置の外観斜視図である。なお、第1実施形態と同様の機能を有する構成部材には同じ符号を付して、その詳細な説明を省略する。また、ICタグリーダ4および赤外線センサ5は、後記のスマートフォン8と、Bluetooth(登録商標)等の無線通信により接続されている。
 第2実施形態の表示装置20で用いられているハウジング7は、図4に示すように、横方向の壁面のない形状で、その1つの側面(斜面7c)を、後記のディスプレイ(スマートフォン8)の載置面(所定角αで傾斜する載置面)として利用している。また、このハウジング7の上面(天板)7a上には、前記実施形態と同様のカードCが載置されている。
 また、上記表示装置20の載置面(斜面7c)には、ディスプレイ(スマートフォン8)を固定するための吸着(粘着)テープ等が貼着されており、その上に仮固定されたスマートフォン8は、取り外し可能なようになっている。そのため、第2実施形態のディスプレイとしては、上記スマートフォン8の他、タブレット型PC,デジタルフォトフレームや、携帯型ゲーム機,携帯型ブックリーダー,PDA,電子辞書等のうち、その表示部が常時露出する(カバーされていない)タイプのなかで、上記載置面(斜面7c)上に載置できるサイズのものを使用することができる。しかも、上記ハウジング7は、これらスマートフォン8等の挿入や取り出しや交換等を、容易かつ簡単に行うことができるというメリットを有する。
 また、ディスプレイとして、上記スマートフォン8や携帯情報端末等を使用する場合、これら機器のなかには、その背面(ディスプレイにおける表示面8aの背面)側に、機器独自のICタグリーダ(NFCリーダ/ライタ)や光学式センサ(CCDカメラ)等を備えているものもある。スマートフォン8が上記NFCリーダ/ライタを備える場合、このNFCリーダ/ライタを、前記ICタグリーダ4に代えて、情報保持体の情報の読み出しに使用してもよい。
 また、表示面8aの背面側に、イメージセンサやラインスキャナ等の光学式センサを有するスマートフォン8の場合、例えば、対応する位置の載置面(斜面7c)に撮影用の貫通孔,穴等を設け、この貫通孔等を通して、情報保持体のバーコード等の情報を読み取らせた後、上記カードCを天板(上面7a)上に載置してもよい。あるいは、光学式センサが機器前面に配置されているスマートフォン8の場合は、天板の下にカードCを差し込んで識別情報を読み取らせ(読み込ませ)、その後に、上記カードCを上面7a上に載置してもよい。
 以上の構成によっても、上記ハウジング7の上面7a上に載置される予定のカードC(平板状の情報保持体)の保有する個別情報が、ICタグリーダ4またはスマートフォン8に内蔵されたNFCリーダ/ライタ等により読み取られ、その情報がディスプレイ(スマートフォン8)の制御手段に伝達されて、上記カードCに対応する画像Iが予め準備される(待機状態)。そして、その後、上記カードCがハウジング上面7aに載置された(当接した)際は、赤外線センサ5から伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記制御手段が、上記画像Iをすぐさま液晶ディスプレイ(スマートフォン8)に表示させ、この画像Iの投影像が、マイクロミラーアレイ1およびカードCに設けられた開口Ca(光透過部)を透して、装置上側に空間像I’として表示される(表示状態)。
 なお、前記第1実施形態と同様、この空間像I’の表示は、カードCを載置している間、継続される。そして、その後、上記カードCの使用が終了し、ハウジング上面7aから取り除かれた際、上記表示装置20は、赤外線センサ5から伝達される物体検出信号の変化(途絶)に基づいて、上記画像Iの表示を中止する。また、ICタグリーダ4は、次のカードC等の近接を待つ間(読み取り可能領域内に入ってくるまで)、識別情報の読み取り操作(ループ)を繰り返し行うようになっている点も同様である。
 これにより、本実施形態の表示装置20も、カードCが保有する個別情報に基づいて制御手段がスマートフォン8のディスプレイに表示する画像Iを予め準備する「待機状態」と、カードCの当接にタイミングを合わせて上記画像Iをスマートフォン8のディスプレイに表示させ、この画像Iの投影像をハウジング7の上側に空間像I’として表示する「表示状態」とを、最適なタイミングで切り替え、上記情報保持体(カードC等)に応じた効果的な空間像I’を、臨場感豊かに表示することができる。
 つぎに、本発明の各実施形態の表示装置で用いる、特徴的なマイクロミラーアレイについて説明する。図5~図9は、上記実施形態で用いられるマイクロミラーアレイの構成を説明する図である。
 前記各実施形態で使用するマイクロミラーアレイのうち、図5~図8に示すマイクロミラーアレイは、透明な平板状基板の一面に、回転刃を用いたダイシング加工により、互いに平行な複数本の直線状溝が所定の間隔で形成された2枚の光学素子を、各光学素子の直線状溝の延びる方向が平面視互いに直交するように、下記(X)~(Z)のいずれかの態様にて重ね合わせた状態で一組として構成されている。
(X)各光学素子における直線状溝が形成されたおもて面どうしが当接した態様。〔図5,図6参照〕
(Y)一方の光学素子の直線状溝が形成されたおもて面と、他方の光学素子の溝が形成されていない裏面とが当接した態様。〔図7参照〕
(Z)各光学素子における溝が形成されていない裏面どうしが当接した態様。〔図8参照〕
 また、図9に示すマイクロミラーアレイは、光学素子を構成する1枚の透明な平板状基板の一方の面と反対側の他方の面のそれぞれに、回転刃を用いたダイシング加工により、互いに平行な複数本の直線状溝が、おもて面側の直線状溝と裏面側の直線状溝とが平面視互いに直交するように、所定の間隔で形成されている。
 各マイクロミラーアレイの構造について、図6のマイクロミラーアレイ30を例に説明すると、上記図6に示すマイクロミラーアレイ30は、図5に示す光学素子(9,9’)を重ねて構成されている。各光学素子を構成する基板9,9’(溝9g,9’g形成前の基板)は、直線状の溝9g,9’gを彫り込み加工するための基体であり、例えばガラスやアクリル樹脂等、可視光の透過率が80%以上の材料から形成されている。この基板9,9’は、通常、一定の厚みを有する硬質な板状(厚さ0.5~10.0mm程度)で、その上面(おもて面9a,9’a)に、ダイシング加工により、上記直線状の各溝9g,9’gが彫り込み形成される。なお、上記直線状の溝9gとそれに隣接する溝9gとの間の、溝が彫り込み形成されなかった基板表面部分が、隣接する溝の形成により、基板9,9’の一面に向けて突出する凸部(凸条部または凸条部位)となっている。また、上記各溝9g,9’gの彫り込みが到達していない平板状部位(板状部9c,9’c)が、各溝9g,9’gの間に彫り残して形成される上記凸条部の支持基台となっている。
 上記基板9,9’上の溝9g,9’gは、ダイシング加工機等の回転刃(切削加工)により形成されるもので、基板9,9’の加工対象面(おもて面)に、一方向に所定の間隔(ピッチ)で、かつ、互いに平行になるように形成されている。なお、これらの溝9g,9’gを構成する側面(壁面)は、上記回転刃を用いたダイシング加工により形成されるため、光反射性の垂直面(鏡面)に形成されている。
 また、ダイシングブレード等を用いた彫り込み加工により得られる溝9g,9’gは、上記ブレードの厚さ(回転刃端面間の全厚)にもよるが、通常、0.015mm(15μm)~0.3mm(300μm)程度の厚さのブレードを使用した場合、溝幅が約20~350μmで、溝深さが約50~500μm程度の溝9g,9’gが形成され、これらの溝9g,9’gが形成されていない残りの領域(凸条部)は、幅(W)が約50~300μmで、高さが約50~500μm(溝の深さと同一)の平行なリブ状となっている。
 そして、上記直線状の各溝9g,9’gが形成された2枚の基板9,9’は、一方の基板9’を下側の他方の基板9に対して水平に90°回転させた状態(すなわち、下側の基板9と上側の基板9’における「溝」の延長方向の位相が90°異なる状態)で、これらの基板9,9’を当接させて重ね合わせることにより、図6~図8のような、一組(一体)のマイクロミラーアレイ(30,40,50)とされる。
 この際、上記のように下側の基板9と上側の基板9’における溝方向の位相が90°異なることから、同じ形状に形成された基板9と基板9’の各溝9g,9’gは、その連続方向が平面視互いに直交する配置〔立体的には「ねじれの位置」〕になる。この状態において、上記各マイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50を基板表裏方向(上下方向)から見た場合、上側の基板9’の各溝9’gと下側の基板9の各溝9gとが、平面視互いに直交する格子状になっており、これらの交差箇所それぞれに、上側の基板9’の各溝9’gの光反射性の垂直面(第2の鏡面)と、下側の基板9の各溝9gの光反射性の垂直面(第1の鏡面)とからなるコーナーリフレクタ〔上下方向に離間したコーナーリフレクタ〕が形成される(例として、特開2014-32394号公報を参照)。
 図6~図8に示すマイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50は、上記のようにして構成したものであり、図6に示すマイクロミラーアレイ30は、同じ形状の2枚の光学素子(基板9,9’)を用いて、上側の一方の基板9’を表裏反転させ、この基板9’を下側の他方の基板9に対して90°回転させた状態(図5の状態)で、上側の基板9’における溝9’gが形成されたおもて面9’aを、下側の基板9における溝9gが形成されたおもて面9aに当接させ、各基板9,9’上に設けられた各溝9gと溝9’gの延びる方向が平面視互いに直交するように、これら基板9,9’どうしを上下に重ね合わせて構成したものである〔前記(X)の態様〕。
 また、図7に示すマイクロミラーアレイ40は、上記2枚の光学素子(基板9,9’)を用いて、各基板9,9’上に設けられた各溝9gと溝9’gの延びる連続方向が平面視互いに直交するように、上側の一方の基板9’を下側の他方の基板9に対して90°回転させた状態で、下側の基板9における溝9gが形成されたおもて面9aに、上側の基板9’における溝9’gが形成されていない裏面9’b(板状部9’c)を当接させ、これら基板9,9’どうしを上下に重ね合わせることにより、一組のマイクロミラーアレイ40として構成されている〔前記(Y)の態様〕。なお、各基板9,9’の溝9gと溝9’gとが、図示下側を向くように重ね合わせても、同じ構成のマイクロミラーアレイを得ることができる。
 さらに、図8に示すマイクロミラーアレイ50は、上記2枚の光学素子(基板9,9’)を用いて、下側の一方の基板9’を表裏反転させ、この基板9’を上側の他方の基板9に対して90°回転させた状態で、上側の基板9の裏面(板状部9cの下側面)と下側の基板9’の裏面(板状部9’cの上側面)とを突き合わせ、各基板9,9’上に設けられた各溝9gと溝9’gの延びる方向が平面視互いに直交するように、これら基板9,9’どうしを上下に重ねることにより、一組のマイクロミラーアレイ50として構成されている〔前記(Z)の態様〕。
 また、図9に示すマイクロミラーアレイ60は、前記各マイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50が、直線状の溝(g)が一面に施された2枚の基板9,9’を用いて構成されていたのに対し、このマイクロミラーアレイ60は、1枚の基板(光学素子)で構成されている。すなわち、上記マイクロミラーアレイ60は、図9に示すように、透明な平板状の基板の上側のおもて面60aおよび下側の裏面60bに、それぞれ、前記の回転刃等を用いたダイシング加工により、互いに平行な直線状の溝9gおよび溝9g’が、所定の間隔で複数本形成されており、これらおもて面60a側の各溝9gと裏面60b側の各溝9g’とは、その形成方向(連続方向)が平面視互いに直交するように配置されている。
 そして、上記各マイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50,60は、図2の第1実施形態および図4の第2実施形態のように、各表示装置の上面(6a,7a)に設けられた開口部に嵌め入れる際、各コーナーリフレクタを構成する一対の光反射面(第1の鏡面および第2の鏡面)が、鑑賞者の視点側(各図における符号E側)を向くように、全体を鑑賞者の正面に対して45°回転させた状態で配設される。
 上記各マイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50,60によれば、各マイクロミラーアレイの一方の面側(下側)から入射した光が、上記第1の鏡面および第2の鏡面でそれぞれ1回反射し、反射後の光が他方の面側(上側)に透過する。これにより、本発明の各実施形態の表示装置で用いる各マイクロミラーアレイ30,40,50,60は、図1,図3のように、マイクロミラーアレイの一方の面側に配置されたディスプレイに表示される映像(画像I)の鏡映像(空間像I’)を、このマイクロミラーアレイの素子面Pに対して面対称となる他方の面側の空間位置に結像させることができる。
 なお、上記実施例においては、本発明における具体的な形態について示したが、上記実施例は単なる例示にすぎず、限定的に解釈されるものではない。当業者に明らかな様々な変形は、本発明の範囲内であることが企図されている。
 本発明の表示装置によれば、結像光学素子の周囲に配置された情報保持体に対応する、奥行き感に富むリアルな立体的二次元空間像を、情報保持体の筐体上面への当接に合わせて、タイミングよく表示することができる。したがって、この表示装置は、子供等が興味を持ちやすい、ゲーム機,教育関連用の携帯機器や、しかけ絵本,飛び出す絵本等への利用に適する。

Claims (3)

  1.  ディスプレイを収容する筐体と、上記筐体の上面に光透過状に配設された結像光学素子と、この結像光学素子の下側に、結像光学素子の下面に対してその表示面が所定角度傾斜した状態で配設されたディスプレイと、上記筐体の上面に載置される情報保持体と、上記情報保持体が保有する情報を非接触で読み取るリーダと、上記筐体上面の物体の有無を検知するセンサと、上記ディスプレイに映像を表示させる機能を有し、上記リーダとセンサからの信号に基づき上記映像を制御する制御手段と、を備える表示装置であって、
    上記制御手段が、上記リーダから伝達される情報保持体の情報と上記センサから伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、下記(A)の待機状態と下記(B)の表示状態とを切り替えることを特徴とする表示装置。
    (A)上記情報保持体が筐体上面に当接する前であって上記リーダによる信号の読み取り可能領域内に侵入した際、このリーダで上記情報保持体が保有する個別情報を読み取り、リーダから制御手段に伝達される個別情報に基づいて、上記制御手段が上記情報保持体に対応する映像を準備する待機状態。
    (B)上記情報保持体が筐体上面に当接している間、上記センサから制御手段に伝達される物体検出信号に基づいて、上記制御手段が上記準備した映像をディスプレイに表示させ、この映像の投影像が、上記結像光学素子を介して筐体上側の空間に浮かび上がった状態で結像する表示状態。
  2.  上記情報保持体が平板状で、かつ、その一部に上記結像光学素子の平面形状に対応した光透過部が設けられているとともに、上記投影像が、この光透過部を透して結像することを特徴とする請求項1記載の表示装置。
  3.  上記結像光学素子の下面に対する上記ディスプレイの表示面の傾斜角が、30°以上90°未満であることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の表示装置。
