DESCRIPTION
MEASURING DEVICE
Technical Field
The invention relates to a measuring device which determines the length of any kind of object and facilitates adjusting the length of the clothes produced in ready-made clothing industry to the user.
Background of the Invention
In clothing industry, the clothes are produced in standard length for ready-made clothing. This, in turn, makes it necessary that length of the cloth having been chosen is adjusted to the buyer. Some problems as below arise during readjustment of the length.
• Not perfectly fitting clothes,
• Flaws resulting from measurement,
• Dissatisfaction of the buyer due to reasons such as uneven taking up of a skirt.
The measurement performed for length adjustment takes a long time, is tiresome for the customer and keeps the shop assistant occupied; therefore, the quality of service decreases in workplaces.
Given all of the above, the present invention is needed not only for performing measurement in a quick and flawless manner, but also for improving the quality of service.
In the state of the art, there exist several assemblies for measuring skirt length. One of them has the appearance of a stand ruler with an openable/closable claw at the end thereof. The assembly, the stands of which are placed on the ground, can be fixed in the desired height. The ends of the skirt are compressed between the claws and marking on some points thereof is made by means of needles, hard soap, chalk, etc.

In order to perform measurement by this method, the measuring device is needed to chalnge position around the person wearing the garment to be measured. This causes flaws resulting from positioning.
Another known embodiment has an apparatus that sprays powder, chalk powder, etc., with an adjustable height. The height of the assembly, the stands of which are fixed on the ground, is adjusted as desired and spraying is initiated. Thus, a powder line is formed in the outer face of the skirt in the desired height.
This method, on the other hand, causes undesired marks (i.e. dirt) on the garment. Furthermore, measurement is not performed accurately enough due to the thickness of the powder line.
Both of the methods disregard the flaws that are likely to result from bad fitting. As neither of the two methods has extension portion, they can only be used in garments with long length.
In the present invention, however, an improvement in service quality is aimed by allowing length measurement in a shorter time and without any flaws.
Another object of the invention is to allow measurement for any length (or size) starting from the bottom thereof, thanks to the extension arm comprised therein.

Description of the Invention
The invention relates to a measuring device which determines the length of any kind of object and facilitates adjusting the length of the clothes produced in ready-made clothing industry to the user.
The present invention aims to eliminate the problems experienced in the state of the art.
The components of the design may be produced of any material that is long-lasting - and durable.
The tasks and properties of the components of the design are as follows;
• Lower plate (1): The part of the system which is fitted on the ground and on which the other components are located. Therefore, it is crucial that equilibrium of the lower plate (1 ) is provided. Adjustment screws (2) are located on the lower plate (1 ) equidistantly and equiangularly with respect to symmetry axis. The height of the adjustment screws (2) can be easily adjusted by means of suitable spanners. This allows an easy adjustment of the equilibrium of the assembly.
• Compass (3): The compass positioned between the lower and upper plates (1-8) is capable of performing circular movement 360 degrees; thus, it allows an easy measurement from every direction.
• Counterweight (4): The counterweight (4) positioned at the end of the compass (3) provides an easy and balanced rotation.
• Lock (5): A clamping means is included in the system as the locking mechanism. Thus, rotation of the horizontal arm is locked and it is fixed. The clamping means is screwed and it stops the movement of the horizontal arm by clamping the shaft through the compass (3).
• Anvil housing (6): The anvil housing (6) is provided on the compass (horizontal arm) (3) at the end thereof. The housing comprises a water gauge (7) therein. It allows equilibrium (i.e. the balance of the gauge) measurement for all positions of the horizontal arm (3).
• Upper plate (8): It is the area where the object to measured is placed. It is engaged in the lower plate (1 ).
• Upper arm (9): It is vertically located on the compass (3). It can move horizontally in the space between the anvil housing (6) and the table, in accordance with the diameter of the object to be measured.
• Extension piece (10): It is added in the system so as to allow measurement in cases when the length of the upper arm (9) is exceeded. It is engaged in the upper arm (9) via a telescopic mechanism, when not needed, in order to provide an aesthetic appearance.
• Clamping means (1 1 ): It is used in three different places in order to stabilize the movement of the upper arm (9) on the compass (3), to stabilize the perpendicular movement of the extension piece (10) on the upper arm (9), and to stabilize the perpendicular movement of the Mounting Part For Aparatus (12) provided on the extension piece (10).
• Mounting Part For Aparatus (12): It is located on the extension piece (10) in a way to move perpendicularly. It is designed such that the laser assembly (12) will be located on the holes (13) provided thereon.
The rounded versions of the materials making up the mechanical parts are preferred so as to prevent both the user and the material to be measured from being damaged.
The design can be produced of materials that are durable and practical by means of different methods (coating, processing, dyeing, etc.) and in different colors by taking the functional properties thereof into account.
Since the measurement assembly has generally mechanical parts, the maintenance and service operations thereof are easy enough for the user to perform by himself/herself.
For a perfect measurement to be performed with the measuring device, attention must be paid to the following order.
• The measuring device is placed on a flat surface, equilibrium is checked by means of the water gauge (7) in the anvil housing (6), and in case non- equilibrium occurs, equilibrium is provided again easily thanks to the adjustment screws (2) placed on the lower plate (1 ) in equiangular manner.
• The user wearing the garment, the length of which is to be measured, steps on the upper plate (8) after properly putting the garment on.
· The position of the compass (3) capable of moving circularly is fixed by way of the lock (5).
• The extension piece (12) is adjusted to the height to be measured and it is fixed in this position by way of clamping (1 1).
• The horizontal line of the cross line laser assembly (14) located on the Mounting Part For Aparatus (12) in the extension piece (10) connected to the
upper arm (9) checks for being parallel with respect to the ground, while the vertical line thereof checks the stance of the user.
• The height of the Mounting Part For Aparatus (12) is adjusted to the desired position and is fixed by means of clamping (1 1 ) so as to prevent vertical movement on the extension piece (10).
• The area to be measured is easily determined by means of laser line and is marked by way of chalk, hard soap, needles, etc.
• The lock (5) is loosened in order for it to allow the compass (3) to move. Thus, marking at any point on the garment can be made.
That the person wearing the garment, the length of which will be measured, steps on a plate higher than the ground allows the staff to perform measurement to do so easily, without crouching down much.
The stance of the user is controlled by vertical line of the cross line laser assembly (14), thereby eliminating flaws resulting from bad fitting.
Being parallel with respect to the ground is controlled by horizontal line of the cross line laser assembly (14), thereby eliminating measurement flaws resulting from a non-uniform measurement.
The laser assembly (14) allows for a quick and easy measurement and the customer does not get tired of long lasting measurement operations.
With a quicker measurement process, works will be performed in a serial manner in busy workplaces, which will increase efficiency, thereby yielding profit. Moreover, an improvement in service quality will be assured since the staff will have extra time for other operations.
Thanks to the present assembly facilitating measurement process, the staff is relaxed psychologically, and so they take pleasure in what they do. Therefore, the staff provides good service in a friendly manner.
The present assembly will contribute to professional working. The customers will have huge confidence due to the technology utilized.
Claims
1. A measuring device for" determining the length of any kind of object; characterized in that it comprises a compass (3) located on the lower plate (1), counterweight (4) located at the opposite end of the compass (3), lock (5) controlling the movement of the compass (3), upper arm (9) vertically located in the horizontal arm of the compass (3), anvil housing (6) placed at the end of the compass (3), water gauge (7) located in the anvil housing (6), extension piece (10) to be engaged in the upper arm, Mounting Part For Aparatus (12) positioned on the extension piece (10), holes (13) on the Mounting Part For Aparatus (12) in order for the laser assembly (14) to be placed, and clamping (1 1 ) for fixing the movable parts.
2. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claim 1 ; characterized in that it has a design allowing the engagement of a cross line laser assembly (14) for determining bad fitting and for measuring being parallel to the ground.
3. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 and 2; characterized in that it has a water gauge (7) located in anvil housing (6) for allowing the control of the balance of the assembly.
4. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 , 2 and 3; characterized in that it comprises adjustment screws (2) located on the lower cover (1 ) to provide equilibrium in equiangular manner.
5. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 , 2, 3 and 4; characterized in that it comprises an upper arm (9)
which moves horizontally on the compass (3) and allows extending/narrowing in accordance with the diameter of the object to be measured.
6. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 , 2, 3, 4 and 5; characterized in that it comprises an extension piece (10) moving vertically on the upper arm (9) enabling any height to be measured.
7. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6; characterized in that it comprises a compass (3) capable of moving 360 degrees circularly, said compass allowing measurement from any direction of the object.
8. A measuring device for determining the length of any kind of object according to Claims 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; characterized in that it comprises a telescopic mechanism enabling the extension piece (10) to be engaged in the upper arm (9).
