Description

A COOLING DEVICE COMPRISING AN ICE CUBE TRAY
The present invention relates to a cooling device comprising an ice cube tray.
In refrigerators, the ice making process is a process of taking the water required for making ice from a source, pouring the water into the ice cube tray, and creating ice by benefiting from the heat transfer in the freezing compartment; thus enabling the user to receive the amount of ice cubes as he/she wants at any desired time. Water filling containers with volumes equal to the volume of the ice cube tray are used in order to fill water into the ice cube tray in one go and without overflowing from the ice cube tray. In the case the filling container gets lost, the ice cube tray is filled by any container owned by the user. If the ice cube tray cannot be fully filled, ice cubes cannot be obtained in sufficient quantities or ice cubes cannot be released from the ice cube tray as a result of overfilling.
In the state of the art International Patent Application No. WO2011080227, a refrigerator is disclosed, wherein filling water into the ice tray is facilitated by means of a cartridge.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device wherein water is easily filled into the ice cube tray.
The cooling device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises an ice cube tray wherein ice cubes are made and an ice making unit whereon the ice cube tray is disposed. The ice making unit of the present invention comprises a filling container that is detachably mounted thereon and that enables water to be filled into the ice cube tray. The filling container is stored on the ice making unit, close to the ice cube tray when not in use. Thus, the user can easily access the filling container when the ice cube tray is desired to be filled. The user places the filling container on the ice making unit practically when the water filling operation is completed.
In an embodiment of the present invention, by being placed side by side inside the box-shaped ice making unit such that the filling container is enabled to be disposed rigidly therebetween, at least two ice cube trays can move around the axis whereto they are connected. Thus, the filling container can be stored without limiting the movement of the ice cube trays. The filling container is not affected by the movement of the ice cube tray and does not cause noise by changing place. The user can easily access the filling container disposed near the ice cube trays. Furthermore, the storage space allocated for the filling container is used effectively.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice making unit comprises an ice cube tray having an open position and a closed position whereto it is changed by being rotated and a housing wherein the filling container that can be accessed when the ice cube tray is changed to the open position is disposed. The filling container is concealed inside the ice making unit and the filling container can be accessed only when at least one of the ice cube trays is changed to the open position.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice making unit comprises a fixing element disposed thereon, that enables the filling container, when placed into the housing, to be fixed on the ice making unit and wherein the filling container is at least partially inserted. The filling container is mounted into the ice making unit by being seated to the fixing element. Thus, the filling container is prevented from changing place and causing noise during movements that may occur in the ice making unit originating from shaking or vibration.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the filling container is L-shaped. The L-shaped filling container is both suitable to be easily disposed into the ice making unit and also provides ease of utilization during processes of filling water and disposing into the housing by being easily grasped by the user. Thus, the filling container can be easily disposed into the housing and can be easily taken out of the housing by being pulled when desired.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice making unit comprises an orifice that is arranged on the filling container and that enables water to be filled into the filling container, a lid that covers the ice cube tray, and an opening arranged on the lid. By means of the lid, the water in the ice cube tray is prevented from splattering and overflowing from the ice cube tray in case of any shaking. Water is filled into the ice cube tray by means of an opening arranged on the lid.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the shape of the orifice matches the shape of the opening. The orifice, when placed over the opening while filling water in the filling container into the ice cube tray, partially enters into the opening and enables water to be filled without splattering from the ice cube tray. The cross-section of the opening is larger than the cross-section of the orifice. Thus, the opening enables the orifice to at least partially enter therein.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice cube tray comprises more than one cell wherein water is filled for making ice cubes. By means of the cells, ice cubes having a certain shape, size and number can be obtained. The volume of the filling container is almost equal to the total volume of the cells. By means of the filling container, water is filled into the cells as much as their volumes. Moreover, water is prevented from overflowing from the ice cube tray, and formation of thin ice cubes with volumes smaller than the volume of the cell is avoided.
By means of the present invention, a cooling device is realized wherein the user can easily access the filling container by means of the filling container being disposed on the ice making unit. The user can easily grasp and use the filling container by means of the shape of the filling container.
