Description

DEVICE FOR FIXING A LIGHT SOURCE
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a colposcope, especially to a device for fixing a light source of a colposcope.
Background of the invention
Currently colposcopy has become a common gynecological examination technique since a colposcope has the following advantages: it is easy to operate, causes no pain to a patient, causes no cross-infection, can take videos at any time, prints a color image, and stores valuable clinical data etc. A colposcope generally comprises a support, a colposcope lens arranged on the support, and an image processing system. The colposcope lens comprises a light source and a CCD camera. During operation, the light source of the colposcope lens emits light, focuses automatically, and illuminates a region to be examined. The CCD camera produces an image and video signal of the region to be examined which is displayed on a screen after being processed by the image processing system. A doctor may make a diagnosis only after observing a focus and identifying a tiny change in the epidermal layer of the cervix on the screen.
The light source of the colposcope lens generally uses an annular cold light source group consisting of a plurality of LED light sources. In a conventional colposcope, the device for fixing the light source generally comprises a cylindrical housing for engaging with a CCD camera, a locating frame for fixing the annular LED light source group, and a locating ring for locating the locating frame. During assembling the light source, first a circuit board provided with the annular LED light source group is placed into the cylindrical housing, after which the locating frame is pressed onto the circuit board provided with the annular LED light source group, such that each one of the LED light sources of the annular source group is inserted into a respective light source locating hole of the locating frame, and finally the locating ring is screwed on top of the locating frame by engagement between an internal thread of the cylindrical housing and an external thread of the locating ring, and the locating frame is pressed such that the locating frame is held fixedly in place.
In the case of the conventional device for fixing the light source, mounting the light source is very complicated, since it requires a special specified tool for screwing the locating ring, and the LED light sources may rotate together with the locating ring during screwing the locating ring, causing the connecting wires of the light source to loosen or become detached.

Detailed description of preferred embodiments
A device for fixing the light source according to the present invention is explained in detail hereinbelow with reference to the accompanying figures.
As shown in figure 1, the device 1 for fixing the light source according to the present invention comprises a first housing portion 3 and a second housing portion 5. The first housing portion 3 comprises a first cylindrical inner wall 7, a first cylindrical outer wall 9, and an annular portion 11 which connects the first cylindrical inner wall 7 with the first cylindrical outer wall 9. A plurality of guiding and locating holes 13 for guiding and locating a LED light source respectively are distributed on the annular portion 11. The second housing portion 5 comprises an annular base 15, and a second cylindrical inner wall 17 extending upward from an inner edge of the annular base 15. The second cylindrical inner wall 17 extends upward stepwise and has at least two different internal diameters. Preferably, as shown in figures 5 and 6, a lower portion 19 of the second cylindrical inner wall 17 having a larger internal diameter is adapted to engage with a CCD camera, and an upper portion 21 of the second cylindrical inner wall 17 having a smaller internal diameter is adapted to form, in combination with the first cylindrical inner wall 7 of the first housing portion 3, a light passage 23 opening for the CCD camera when assembling the light source. The outside of the second cylindrical inner wall 17 is further provided with steps 25 for supporting a circuit board 27 provided with an annular LED light source group when assembling the light source.
When assembling the light source, the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5 are detachably snapped together. For example, a protrusion is formed on one of a bottom end of the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and the annular base 15 of the second housing portion 5 while a recess is formed at a corresponding position at the other one of the bottom end of the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and the annular base 15 of the second housing portion 5. The protrusion may be press-fitted into the recess such that the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5 are detachably snapped together.
Preferably, a plurality of claws 29 are formed on the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and a plurality of openings 31 are formed at a corresponding position in the annular base 15 of the second housing portion 5. When the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5 are assembled together, the claws 29 are hooked onto a wall of the openings 31. In the preferred embodiment shown, there are three claws and three corresponding openings. However, it should be appreciated that the number of claws and openings may be more or fewer than three.
In order to facilitate assembly of the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5 and further to restrict rotation between the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5, the second housing portion 5 further comprises a second cylindrical outer wall 33 extending upward from the annular base 15. Preferably, the second cylindrical outer wall 33 extends upward from an outer edge of the annular base 15. A plurality of guiding posts 35 may be provided on one of the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and the second cylindrical outer wall 33 of the second housing portion 5 while a plurality of guiding slots 37 are provided correspondingly on the other one of the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and the second cylindrical outer wall 33 of the second housing portion 5. In the preferred embodiment shown, the guiding posts 35 are provided on the outside of the first cylindrical outer wall 9 of the first housing portion 3 and the guiding slots 37 are provided on the second cylindrical outer wall 33 of the second housing portion 5.
Furthermore, the annular base 15 of the second housing portion 5 may be formed with through holes 39 through which the wires leading to the CCD camera pass and with holes 41 for radiating heat.
The assembly of the device for fixing the light source according to the present invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying figures.
During assembly of said device for fixing the light source, the circuit board 27 provided with the annular LED light source group is first placed so as to extend from the bottom end of the first housing portion 3 into an annular space between the first cylindrical inner wall 7 and the first cylindrical outer wall 9 such that the LED light sources 28 of the annular LED light source group are inserted into the respective guiding and locating holes 13 in the annular portion 11 of the first housing portion 3. Then, the first housing portion 3 carrying the circuit board 27 provided with the annular LED light source group is inserted into the second housing portion 5 such that the guiding posts 35 on the first housing portion 3 are inserted into the guiding slots 37 in the second housing portion 5, and the claws 29 on the first housing portion 3 are inserted into the openings 31 in the annular base 15 of the second housing portion 5 and hooked onto the wall of the openings 31. As a result, the first housing portion 3 and the second housing portion 5 are fixed together without any rotation to complete the assembly of the light source.
The device for fixing the light source according to the present invention is convenient to operate and does not need any special specified tools because the first housing portion and the second housing portion are mutually engaged through a snap fit. Furthermore, this snap fit also restricts relative rotation between the first housing portion and the second housing portion, and therefore can also prevent the LED light sources from rotating together with the first housing portion, thereby avoiding that the connecting wires of the LED light sources loosen or become detached.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the preferred embodiments, it should be understood that this detailed description is intended to explain the present invention rather than to limit the invention. For example, the device for fixing the light source according to the present invention, not only may be used to fix the light source of the colposcope lens, but also may be used to fix the light source of the lens of a security system. Furthermore, although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to the LED cold light source, it should be understood that other light sources such as a filament lamp, halogen lamp or xenon lamp may also be placed in the device for fixing the light source of the present invention. The scope of the present invention is determined by the technical solutions defined in the claims.
