이때, 라인 안테나는 직사각형 형태의 루프 안테나에서 가로 방향의 어느 한 변에 일단이 연결되어 세로 방향으로 연장된 형태의 X축 라인 안테나(제1 라인 안테나)와, 루프 안테나의 직사각형 형태에서 세로 방향의 어느 한 변에 일단이 연결되어 가로 방향으로 연장된 형태의 Y축 라인 안테나(제2 라인 안테나)로 구성될 수 있다. 더욱, X축 라인 안테나는 가로 방향의 변에서 동일한 간격으로 복수 개가 서로 평행하게 배치될 수 있으며, Y축 라인 안테나도 마찬가지로 배치될 수 있다.
복수의 X축 라인 안테나는 세로 방향으로 연장되어 있지만, 가로 방향의 좌표를 판정하는 데에 이용되므로, X축 라인 안테나로 이름붙여졌다. 마찬가지로, Y축 라인 안테나는 Y축 방향의 좌료를 판정하는 데에 이용된다.
X축 라인 안테나들과 Y축 라인 안테나들은 일단이 루프 안테나와 접속되어 있는 것을 제외하고는 루프 안테나와는 절연된 상태이다. 즉, 도면에서 각 라인 안테나들과 루프 안테나를 교차하여 지나가는 지점은 서로 절연되어 있다. 또한, 각 라인 안테나들도 안테나들끼리의 교차 지점에서 서로 절연된 상태이다.
라인 선택 회로는, 복수의 라인 안테나의 각각의 타단들과 결합되어 있다. 그리고 입력되는 선택 신호에 따라서, 결합된 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 중 어느 하나를 선택하여 출력(차동 출력)으로 설정한다.
라인 안테나는 X축 라인 안테나와 Y축 라인 안테나의 2세트가 구성되므로, 라인 선택 회로도 X축 라인 안테나를 위한 제1 선택 회로와 Y축 라인 안테나를 위한 제2 라인 선택 회로를 각각 구비하는 것이 바람직하다. 물론, 하나의 라인 선택 회로에 의해 라인 안테나들을 선택하도록 구현하는 것도 가능하다.
좌표 감지 회로는, 제1 라인 선택 회로 및 제2 라인 선택 회로의 선택 동작을 제어한다. 또한, 좌표 감지 회로는 하나 또는 2개의 차동 증폭기 및 MCU를 포함할 수 있다.
차동 증폭기는 하나의 입력은 접지에 연결되며 또하나의 입력은 라인 선택 회로에서 선택한 라인 안테나의 차동 출력이 연결된다. 그리고 차동 출력에서 유도 전압(전자펜의 전자기력에 의해 선택된 라인 안테나 유도된 유도 전류에 의해 생성된 전압)이 나타나면, 접지와의 차분을 출력한다. MCU는, 차동 증폭기에서 출력되는 차분(유도 전압)을 이용하여 상기 선택된 라인 안테나를 기준으로 상기 전자펜의 위치를 판정한다(위치 판정의 원리는 도 2 참조).
파워 코일은, 전자펜이 자체 배터리를 구비하지 않은 경우에, 전자펜에 유도 에너지를 공급하기 위하여 설치된다. 파워 코일은 주로 전자펜 감지 영역의 둘레를 따라 권취된 코일 형태로 구성될 수 있다.
코일 구동 드라이버는, 소정의 주파수(전자펜의 공진 주파수와 같거나 유사한 주파수)를 갖는 교류 전력을 파워 코일에 인가한다.
도 1에서는 각 구성부들을 구동시키기 위한 전원이 도시되어 있지 않으나, 상용 교류 전원 또는 이로부터 정류된 직류 전원 또는 배터리가 배치되어 각 구성부에 공급될 수 있다.
이러한 구성을 포함하는 타블렛은 다음과 같은 원리로 동작한다. 도 2는 루프 안테나와 라인 안테나를 갖는 종래의 타블렛의 동작 원리를 설명하는 도면이다.
도 2(a)에서는, 감지 영역이 되는 직사각형 형태를 둘러싸는 폐루프 형태의 루프 안테나와, 일단이 루프 안테나의 아래쪽 변에 연결되어 있으며 타단이 직사각형 형태의 위쪽을 향하여 연장되고 위쪽 변을 교차하여 지나감으로써, 직사각형의 감지 영역을 세로 방향으로 관통하고 있는 다수의 라인 안테나를 볼 수 있다. (여기서 및 이하의 설명에서는, 가로 방향의 Y축 라인 안테나 및 이와 관련된 구성부에 대해서는 도시 및 설명을 생략한다.)
이러한 구성에서, 라인 선택 회로가 어느 하나의 라인 안테나를 선택한다면, 루프 안테나의 폐루프는 선택된 라인 안테나에 의해 가상의 왼쪽 루프와 오른쪽 루프로 구분될 수 있을 것이다. 이때, 전자기력을 방출하는 전자펜이 감지 영역의 어느 위치에 접근하면, 전자펜이 선택된 라인 안테나에 의해 구분된 왼쪽 루프와 오른쪽 루프의 어느쪽의 내부에 위치하는지에 따라서 차동 출력에서 나타나는 전압이 역전되어 나타날 것이다.
도 2(b)는 도 2(a)에서와 같이 전자펜이 위치할 때, 각 라인 안테나에서 출력되는 유도 전압의 크기를 나타낸 파형도이다. 도 2(a)에는, 예시적으로 7개의 라인 안테나가 도시되어 있으며, 도 2(b)에서는 7개의 샘플링된 유도 전압의 크기가 표시되었다.
라인 선택 회로는, 모든 라인 안테나를 동시에 선택하여 유도 전압을 샘플링할 수 없으므로, 임의의 주기로 하나씩의 라인 안테나를 선택하여 차동 출력으로서 차동 증폭기에 연결한다(스캔한다). 모든 라인 안테나를 1회 스캔하는 동안 전자펜은 상대적으로 정지된 위치이어야 하므로, 스캔의 주기는 전자펜의 움직임에 대하여 매우 빠른 속도로 설정되도록 한다. 보통, 스캔 주기는, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니지만, 수 백 Hz 내지 수 MHz 정도로 설정될 수 있다.
좌표 감지 회로에서는, 선택된 차동 출력에 나타나는 유도 전압을 샘플링 및 홀드하고, 각 라인 안테나마다의 홀드된 값을 이용하여 도 2(b)와 같은 파형을 만든다.
도 2(b)를 보면, 왼쪽으로부터 오른쪽 방향으로, 각 라인 안테나에서의 유도 전압은 전자펜의 위치로 갈수록 증가하고 있으며, 전자펜을 지나친 라인 안테나에서는 유도 전압이 역전되어 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있다.
이와 같이, 루프 안테나와 라인 안테나를 갖는 종래의 타블렛에서는 라인 안테나들을 하나씩 선택하고, 이때 나타나는 유도 전압의 파형이 역전되는 위치를 전자펜의 위치로 판정하는 원리를 이용한다.
한편, 도 2(c)는 직사각형 형태의 루프 안테나에 있어서, 위쪽 변에 라인 안테나들을 연결시키고, 아래쪽 방향으로 연장시켜 감지 영역을 구성한 경우를 보여준다. 이 경우는, 루프 안테나와 라인 안테나들의 접속 지점이 도 2(a)에서와 반대이므로, 감지되는 유도 전압의 파형도 도 2(b)에 도시된 파형과는 반대로 나타나게 된다(도 2(d) 참조).
따라서, 상술한 원리 및 구성으로 이루어지는 종래의 타블렛에서는, 모든 라인 안테나의 일단들이 직사각형 형태 중 어느 한 변에 연결되어 있기 때문에, 감지 영역을 관통하여 직사각형 형태의 다른쪽 변으로 교차하여 나온 라인 안테나들은 가까이 모아져셔 동일한 경로를 따라 라인 선택 회로에 연결된다.
한편, 루프 안테나와 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛을 제작할 때에는, 안테나가 형성된 기판을 통한 투명성의 확보 및 제작의 용이성을 위하여, 투명 필름 기판에 단층으로 안테나의 패턴을 스크린 인쇄 등의 방법으로 형성하게 된다. 그런데, 스크린 인쇄 등의 방법에서는 다층으로 패턴을 형성할 수 없어서, 감지 영역의 바깥쪽으로 나와서 라인 선택 회로로 연결되는 복수의 라인 안테나의 패턴들은 서로 일정한 간격을 두고 나란하게 흘러가는 형태가 된다.
이때, 라인 안테나의 개수가 많아질수록, 나란히 흘러가는 라인 안테나 패턴의 전체 폭이 넓어지게 되고, 이는 전자펜 감지 영역의 외부 영역(타블렛 또는 타블렛을 장착한 디스플레이 장치에서 베젤 영역이 됨)의 폭을 줄이는 데에 제한이 된다.
즉, 도 1에서와 같이, 가로방향을 따라 5개의 라인 안테나가 배치되어 있다면, 감지 영역의 위쪽 바깥 부분에서는 5개의 라인 안테나가 선택 회로까지 나란하게 흘러가야 한다.
본 발명은 상술한 바와 같은 문제점을 해결하고자 하는 것으로서, 전자펜 감지 영역의 바깥쪽으로 흐르는 라인 안테나들의 패턴이 차지하는 베젤 폭을 최소화하고자 하는 것이다.
상술한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예는, 접지에 연결되어 있으며, 공진 회로를 이용하여 전자기력을 방출하는 전자펜의 위치를 감지하기 위해 설정된 전자펜 감지 영역의 둘레를 형성하는 폐루프 형태의 루프 안테나와; 상기 루프 안테나의 폐루프 형태 내부에서 빗살 모양으로 서로 평행하게 배치되며, 일단은 상기 루프 안테나에 전기적으로 연결되고 타단은 상기 루프 안테나를 절연된 상태로 가로질러 상기 감지 영역을 관통하는 복수의 라인 안테나와; 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들이 결합되어 있으며, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 중 어느 하나를 선택하여 차동 출력으로 설정하는 라인 선택 회로와; 상기 라인 선택 회로의 선택 동작을 제어하고, 상기 전자펜에서 방출하는 전자기력에 의해 상기 차동 출력에서 나타나는 유도 전압을 이용하여 상기 선택된 라인 안테나를 기준으로 상기 전자펜의 위치를 판정하는 좌표 감지 회로를 포함하고, 서로 평행한 상기 복수의 라인 안테나는 적어도 2개의 군으로 분할되고, 제1군은 일단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되고 타단측이 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되고, 제2군은 일단측이 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되고 타단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결된 것을 특징으로 한다.
또한, 상기 좌표 감지 회로는, 상기 제1군의 라인 안테나로부터의 유도 전압 값 또는 상기 제2군의 라인 안테나로부터의 유도 전압 값을 반전시켜 상기 전자펜의 위치 판정에 이용하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상술한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 또다른 실시예는, 접지에 연결되어 있으며, 공진 회로를 이용하여 전자기력을 방출하는 전자펜의 위치를 감지하기 위해 설정된 전자펜 감지 영역의 둘레를 형성하는 폐루프 형태의 루프 안테나와; 상기 루프 안테나의 폐루프 형태 내부에서 빗살 모양으로 서로 평행하게 배치되며, 일단은 상기 루프 안테나에 전기적으로 연결되고 타단은 상기 루프 안테나를 절연된 상태로 가로질러 상기 감지 영역을 관통하는 복수의 라인 안테나와; 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들이 결합되어 있으며, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 중 어느 하나를 선택하여 차동 출력으로 설정하는 라인 선택 회로와; 상기 라인 선택 회로의 선택 동작을 제어하고, 상기 전자펜에서 방출하는 전자기력에 의해 상기 차동 출력에서 나타나는 유도 전압을 이용하여 상기 선택된 라인 안테나를 기준으로 상기 전자펜의 위치를 판정하는 좌표 감지 회로를 포함하고, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나는, 상기 루프 안테나와 연결된 일단의 반대쪽인 타단이, 상기 감지 영역을 상기 루프 안테나와는 절연된 상태로 관통하도록 연장되고(제1 영역), 상기 감지 영역의 외부에서 'ㄷ'자 형태로 방향전환하여 상기 루프 안테나와는 절연된 상태로 인접한 다른 라인 안테나와 평행하게 상기 감지 영역을 다시 완전히 관통한(제2 영역) 후 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 한다.
또한, 상기 좌표 감지 회로는, 세로축(상기 라인 안테나가 연장된 방향)을 측정된 유도 전압값으로 정의하고 가로축을 상기 라인 안테나들의 위치로 정의하고, 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합된 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 각각에서 유도 전압 값을 샘플링하여 측정된 유도 전압 값의 파형(측정 파형)을 생성하고, 상기 측정 파형을 반전한 파형(가상 파형)을 상기 측정 파형에 연결시켜 연장 파형을 형성하고, 상기 연장 파형에 있어서 상기 가로축과 상승하는 방향으로 교차하는 지점 또는 하강하는 방향으로 교차하는 지점을 상기 전자펜의 위치로 판정한다.
또한, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나는 2개의 군으로 분할되고, 제1군은 일단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되어 상기 감지 영역을 관통하도록 시작하고, 제2군은 타단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되어 상기 감지 영역을 관통하도록 시작함으로써 상기 제1군의 라인 안테나와는 역방향으로 구성된 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명은, 상술한 바와 같이 라인 안테나의 형태 및 배치 구조를 개선함으로써, 전자펜 감지 영역의 바깥쪽으로 흐르는 라인 안테나들의 패턴이 차지하는 폭을 줄일 수 있다. 이로써, 타블렛 또는 타블렛을 장착한 디스플레이 장치에서 베젤 영역의 폭을 최소화할 수 있게 된다.
더욱, 본 발명에 따르면, 라인 선택 회로의 입력 개수를 1/2로 줄일 수 있으므로, 회로 구성을 위한 패턴 설계의 복잡함이 줄어들고, 적은 입력을 갖는 선택 소자를 사용하여도 되므로, 부품 비용도 줄일 수 있다. 또한, 스캔할 라인 안테나의 개수가 1/2로 줄어들어, 스캔의 속도가 향상되어 더욱 정밀한 좌표 감지가 가능하다.

본 발명은, 도 1에 도시된 바와 같은 종래의 타블렛 구성에 있어서, 라인 안테나의 형태 및 배치 구조를 개선함으로써, 전자펜 감지 영역의 바깥쪽으로 흐르는 라인 안테나들의 패턴이 차지하는 폭을 줄일 수 있다.
도 3은, 본 발명의 제1 실시예에 따른, 개선된 라인 안테나 구조를 설명하기 위한 도면이다. 도 3에서는 설명 및 이해의 편의를 위하여, 루프 안테나와 어느 한 방향의 라인 안테나(X축 라인 안테나)만을 도시하고 설명한다.
도 3(a)을 보면, 직사각형 형태의 폐루프를 구성하는 루프 안테나와, 루프 안테나의 아래쪽 변에 연결되어(일단) 여기로부터 위쪽으로 연장되어 루프 안테나의 바깥으로 흘러나가는(타단) X축 라인 안테나(제1군)와, 루프 안테나의 위쪽 변에 연결되어 아래쪽으로 연장되어 루프 안테나의 바깥쪽으로 흘러나가는 X축 라인 안테나(제2군)의 구성을 볼 수 있다. 각 라인 안테나의 타단들은 모두 라인 선택 회로로 입력된다.
이렇게 라인 안테나를 구성하고, 만약, 전자펜이 P 지점에 위치하게 된다면, 각 라인 안테나들을 스캔할 때 나타나는 유도 전압을 샘플링한 형태는 도 3(b)과 같은 형태가 될 것이다. 즉, 먼저, 제1군의 라인 안테나를 왼쪽으로부터 전자펜의 위치(P)까지 스캔하면 유도 전압이 (+) 방향으로 서서히 증가하다가, 전자펜의 위치를 지나면 유도 전압이 반전되어 나타난다.
한편, 스캔이 제2군의 라인 안테나를 지날 때에는, 라인 안테나의 루프 안테나와의 연결점이 제1군의 라인 안테나와는 반대이므로, 유도 전압이 다시 (+) 방향으로 나타나며, 스캔이 전자펜의 위치로부터 멀어질수록 유도 전압이 줄어드는 형태로 된다.
본 발명에서는, 이렇게 도 3(b)과 같이 나타나는 전압 파형에 있어서, 제2군의 파형을 반전시켜 도 3(c)과 같은 연속적인 형태로 만든다. 제2군에서 얻어진 전압 파형을 반전시키는 동작은, 제2군의 출력으로부터 좌표 감지 회로에 이르는 경로에 적어도 하나의 인버터를 추가하는 것으로 가능하며, 또는, 좌표 감지 회로의 처리 알고리즘에서 파형의 부호를 반전시키는 것으로도 충분히 실현할 수 있다.
이렇게 연속적인 파형을 만들면, 루프 안테나의 어느 한 변에 모든 라인 안테나를 연결시킨 종래 구조에서의 전압 파형과 동일한 파형을 얻을 수 있으며, 전자펜의 위치를 판별하는 데에 종래의 타블렛의 구조 및 원리를 그대로 사용할 수 있게 된다.
이와 같은 구조의 라인 안테나 패턴에 의하면, 루프 안테나의 어느 한 변의 바깥쪽에서 라인 선택 회로까지 흘러가는 안테나 패턴의 개수가 1/2로 줄어들게 되므로, 루프 안테나 바깥쪽에 필요한 베젤 영역을 줄일 수 있게 된다.
도 4는 본 발명의 제2 실시예에 따른, 개선된 라인 안테나 구조 및 동작 원리를 설명하기 위한 도면이다. 도 4(a)에서도 설명 및 이해의 편의를 위하여, 루프 안테나와 세로 방향의 X축 라인 안테나만을 도시하고 있다.
도 4(a)의 라인 안테나 패턴에서의 특이한 점은, 각 X축 라인 안테나가, 일단은 루프 안테나의 아래쪽 변에 연결되어 있고, 타단은 세로 방향으로 연장되어 루프 안테나의 위쪽 변을 가로질러 관통한 후, 루프 안테나의 바깥쪽에서 'ㄷ'자 형태로 방향전환하여, 다시 인접한 위치에서 다시 루프 안테나의 내부로 진입하고 다른 라인 안테나와 평행을 유지하면서 루프 안테나를 완전히 가로질러 빠져나가는 형태로 구성된다는 것이다. X축 라인 안테나의 타단은 루프 안테나를 관통한 후 라인 선택 회로에 연결된다.
이하의 설명에서는, 라인 안테나들이 루프 안테나와 연결된 일단으로부터 연장된 형태로 배치된 부분을 제1 영역으로 지칭하고, 루프 안테나의 바깥에서 방향전환하여 다시 관통하여 가로질러 나가는 부분을 제2 영역으로 지칭한다.
이러한 형태의 라인 안테나를 구성하면, 라인 안테나의 개수를 종래의 구성에 비하여 1/2로 줄이면서도, 루프 안테나에 의한 전자펜 감지 영역의 전체 범위에 라인 안테나를 배치할 수 있게 된다.
한편, 이런 구조에서는, 라인 안테나를 스캔하여 얻어진 유도 전압으로 전자펜의 위치를 감지하는 데에는 특별한 기술이 필요하게 된다. 이에 대해서는, 도 4를 참조하여 설명한다.
도 4(b) 내지 4(d)는, 도 4(a)와 같은 라인 안테나 구조에 있어서, 도 4(a)에 표시된 전자펜의 다양한 위치에 대하여 측정된 및 생성한 유도 전압 파형을 보여주는 도면이다. 도 4(b) 내지 도 4(d)에서 유도 전압의 파형은, 실제 측정 파형과, 반전된 가상 파형의 2부분으로 구성된다.
제2 실시예에서의 라인 안테나 구조에서는, 루프 안테나의 전체 영역에 대하여 개별적인 라인 안테나를 연결하고 있는 것이 아니라, 라인 안테나를 1/2로 줄여서 루프 안테나를 2번 관통하도록 하고 있으므로, 스캔할 라인 안테나의 개수가 1/2로 줄어든다. 따라서, 샘플링 및 측정된 유도 전압의 개수도 1/2로 된다.
도 4(b) 내지 4(d)의 왼쪽 부분은 각 라인 안테나를 하나씩 스캔하여 얻어진 유도 전압의 크기를 나타낸 파형이다.
먼저, 도 4(b)는 도 4(a)의 라인 안테나 구성 중 전자펜이 A 위치에 있을 때의 스캔된 유도 전압의 크기를 보여주는 도면이다. 도 4(b)의 실제 측정 파형에서는, 왼쪽의 라인 안테나로부터 전자펜의 위치(A)까지는 유도 전압이 (-) 방향으로 크기(절대값 치)가 점점 커지다가 전자펜의 위치(A)를 지나는 라인 안테나로부터는 유도 전압이 역전되고((+) 방향) 라인 안테나가 전자펜의 위치(A)로부터 멀어질수록 크기는 작아지고 있다.
다음, 도 4(c)에는 도 4(a) 중 B 위치에 전자펜이 위치한 경우의 스캔된 유도 전압 파형이 도시되어 있다. 전자펜의 위치(B)는 루프 안테나와 연결된 가장 마지막의 라인 안테나에 걸쳐 있으므로, 실제 측정 파형은, 가장 왼쪽의 라인 안테나로부터 B 지점의 라인 안테나까지 (-) 방향으로 크기가 점점 커지는 형태의 파형이 나타날 것이다.
다음, 도 4(d)에는, 도 4(a) 중 C 위치에 전자펜이 위치한 경우의 스캔된 유도 전압 파형을 보여주는데, 이 경우에는, C 지점 주변의 라인 안테나가 루프 안테나의 위쪽 변의 바깥으로부터 아래쪽으로 관통해 지나가는 형태가 되므로, 측정되는 유도 전압이 위의 도 4(b) 및 5(c)의 유도 전압과는 반대 방향으로 나타날 것이다. 그래서, 도 4(d)의 파형은, 제2 영역의 첫 라인 안테나로부터 측정되는 유도 전압은 (+) 방향으로 나타나다가 전자펜의 위치(C)를 지나면서 역전되어 (-) 방향으로 된다.
한편, 본 발명의 제2 실시예에서는 전자펜 감지 영역을 구성하는 루프 안테나의 절반 부분에 대해서만 유도 전압의 파형을 얻을 수 있다. 따라서, 나머지 절반 부분에 대해서도 유도 전압의 파형을 만들어야 하는데, 이는, 앞서 스캔하여 획득한 유도 전압 파형을 이용할 수 있다. 즉, 앞서 획득한 실제 측정된 파형을 +/- 반전시켜 가상 파형을 생성한 후, 실제 측정된 파형과 연결함으로써, 2배 연장된 파형을 생성한다.
그리고 생성된 연장 파형으로부터 유도 전압 값이 가로축(예를 들면, 접지)을 (+) 기울기로 교차하는 지점을 전자펜이 위치하는 지점으로 간주한다.
즉, 도 4(b)에서는 실제 측정 파형 중 어느 지점에서 (+) 기울기의 교차점이 발견되므로, 이 지점을 전자펜의 위치로 간주할 수 있다. 또한, 도 4(c)에서는 실제 측정 파형의 끝부분에서 가로축의 (-) 부분에 맞닿아 있고, 가상 파형이 시작으로부터 (+)로 시작하므로, 이 지점을 전자펜의 위치로 판정할 수 있다.
한편, 도 4(d)에서는, 실제 측정 파형에서는 측정된 파형이 가로축과는 (-) 기울기를 가지며 교차하고 있으므로, 이 지점은 전자펜의 위치가 아니며, 가상 파형에서 비로소 가로축과 (+) 기울기로 교차하는 지점이 나타나게 되어, 이 지점을 전자펜의 위치로 판정할 수 있게 된다.
이와 같은 방법에 의하면, 라인 안테나의 개수를 절반으로 줄이면서도, 모든 전자펜 감지 영역에서의 전자펜의 위치를 측정할 수 있게 되는 것이다.
또한, 이러한 라인 안테나 구조에 의하면, 루프 안테나의 바깥쪽에는 종래에 비하여 단지 1/2 개수의 라인 안테나만에 대한 패턴을 구비하여도 되므로, 루프 안테나 바깥쪽의 베젤의 폭을 줄일 수 있게 된다.
더욱, 라인 선택 회로의 입력 개수를 1/2로 줄일 수 있으므로, 회로 구성을 위한 패턴 설계의 복잡함이 줄어들고, 적은 입력을 갖는 선택 소자(예를 들면, 멀티플렉서)를 사용하여도 되므로, 부품 비용도 줄일 수 있다. 또한, 스캔할 라인 안테나의 개수가 1/2로 줄어들어, 스캔의 속도가 향상되어 더욱 정밀한 좌표 감지가 가능하다.
다음, 도 5 내지 도 8은, 본 발명의 다양한 실시에에 따른, 라인 안테나 구성 방법을 보여주는 도면이다.
도 5는, X축 라인 안테나와 Y축 라인 안테나를, 상술한 제2 실시예에 따른 라인 안테나 구조로 형성한 것을 보여주는 도면이다. 도 5에서는 직사각형 형태의 루프 안테나와, 세로 방향으로 'ㄷ'자 형태로 배열된 X축 라인 안테나와 가로 방향으로도 'ㄷ'자 형태로 배열된 Y축 라인 안테나를 볼 수 있다.
이와 같은 구성에 의하면, 각 라인 안테나의 개수를 1/2로 줄일 수 있으므로, 전체적으로 스캔할 라인 안테나의 개수가 1/2로 줄어들며, 베젤 영역을 줄일 수도 있다.
도 6은 X축 라인 안테나는 종래의 방식으로 하나의 변에 모든 일단을 연결한 형태로 구성하고, Y축 라인 안테나만을 제2 실시예에 따른 라인 안테나 구조를 이용하고 있는 형태를 보여준다. 이러한 구성은, 양 옆쪽의 베젤 영역에 대해서는 폭 제약이 있지만, 위 또는 아래의 베젤 영역에 대해서는 폭의 제약이 완화된 경우에 적용될 수 있다.
도 7은, 어느 한 축의 라인 안테나를 구성함에 있어서, 루프 안테나의 영역을 2분할하고, 분할된 한 영역에서는 라인 안테나를 일단이 루프 안테나에 연결된 상태에서 루프 안테나를 'ㄷ'자 형태로 돌아 나가도록 구성한다. 그리고, 분할된 다른 영역에서는 라인 안테나가 반대쪽에서 루프 안테나와 연결된 상태에서 'コ'자 형태로 돌아나가도록 구성하고 있다.
비슷한 예로, 도 8에서는, 'ㄷ'자 및 'コ'자 형태의 라인 안테나들이 서로 조합된 형태로 구성되어 있다.
이러한 구성은 타블렛의 설계 요구 사항에 맞추어 적절히 선택될 수 있으며, 각 경우에 있어서의 전자펜 위치 감지 방법은 상술한 설명을 적절히 조합함으로써 실현될 수 있다.
한편, 상기한 제2 실시예의 라인 안테나 구성에서는, 제1 영역에서 루프 안테나의 아래쪽 변의 가장 왼쪽에 처음으로 연결된 라인 안테나는, 루프 안테나의 외부에서 방향전환하여 제2 영역에서 다시 루프 안테나의 내부로 들어올 때, 가장 왼쪽 첫 위치에 배열되도록 하고 있다. 하지만, 다른 방식으로, 제1 영역의 가장 왼쪽의 라인 안테나는 제2 영역의 가장 오른쪽에 배치하고, 제1 영역의 가장 오른쪽의 라인 안테나를 제2 영역의 왼쪽 첫번째 라인 안테나로 설정할 수도 있다.
이러한 구성에 의하면, 루프 안테나의 외부에서 라인 안테나끼리 교차하지 않게 되므로, 안테나 패턴의 구성이 더 용이하다.
또한, 상술한 설명에서는, 루프 안테나는 접지에 연결되는 것으로 설명하고, 차동 증폭기의 입력으로 이 접지가 연결되어 있는 것으로 설명하였으나, 루프 안테나와 차동 증폭기의 어느 하나의 입력은 서로 동일 전위이면 다른 전위와 연결시킬 수도 있다.
Claims (5)
- 접지에 연결되어 있으며, 공진 회로를 이용하여 전자기력을 방출하는 전자펜의 위치를 감지하기 위해 설정된 전자펜 감지 영역의 둘레를 형성하는 폐루프 형태의 루프 안테나와;상기 루프 안테나의 폐루프 형태 내부에서 빗살 모양으로 서로 평행하게 배치되며, 일단은 상기 루프 안테나에 전기적으로 연결되고 타단은 상기 루프 안테나를 절연된 상태로 가로질러 상기 감지 영역을 관통하는 복수의 라인 안테나와;상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들이 결합되어 있으며, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 중 어느 하나를 선택하여 차동 출력으로 설정하는 라인 선택 회로와;상기 라인 선택 회로의 선택 동작을 제어하고, 상기 전자펜에서 방출하는 전자기력에 의해 상기 차동 출력에서 나타나는 유도 전압을 이용하여 상기 선택된 라인 안테나를 기준으로 상기 전자펜의 위치를 판정하는 좌표 감지 회로를 포함하고,서로 평행한 상기 복수의 라인 안테나는 적어도 2개의 군으로 분할되고, 제1군은 일단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되고 타단측이 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되고, 제2군은 일단측이 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되고 타단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결된 것을 특징으로 하는 개선된 구조의 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 좌표 감지 회로는,상기 제1군의 라인 안테나로부터의 유도 전압 값 또는 상기 제2군의 라인 안테나로부터의 유도 전압 값을 반전시켜 상기 전자펜의 위치 판정에 이용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 개선된 구조의 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛.
- 접지에 연결되어 있으며, 공진 회로를 이용하여 전자기력을 방출하는 전자펜의 위치를 감지하기 위해 설정된 전자펜 감지 영역의 둘레를 형성하는 폐루프 형태의 루프 안테나와;상기 루프 안테나의 폐루프 형태 내부에서 빗살 모양으로 서로 평행하게 배치되며, 일단은 상기 루프 안테나에 전기적으로 연결되고 타단은 상기 루프 안테나를 절연된 상태로 가로질러 상기 감지 영역을 관통하는 복수의 라인 안테나와;상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들이 결합되어 있으며, 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 중 어느 하나를 선택하여 차동 출력으로 설정하는 라인 선택 회로와;상기 라인 선택 회로의 선택 동작을 제어하고, 상기 전자펜에서 방출하는 전자기력에 의해 상기 차동 출력에서 나타나는 유도 전압을 이용하여 상기 선택된 라인 안테나를 기준으로 상기 전자펜의 위치를 판정하는 좌표 감지 회로를 포함하고,상기 복수의 라인 안테나는, 상기 루프 안테나와 연결된 일단의 반대쪽인 타단이, 상기 감지 영역을 상기 루프 안테나와는 절연된 상태로 관통하도록 연장되고(제1 영역), 상기 감지 영역의 외부에서 'ㄷ'자 형태로 방향전환하여 상기 루프 안테나와는 절연된 상태로 인접한 다른 라인 안테나와 평행하게 상기 감지 영역을 다시 완전히 관통한(제2 영역) 후 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합되도록 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 개선된 구조의 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 좌표 감지 회로는,세로축(상기 라인 안테나가 연장된 방향)을 측정된 유도 전압값으로 정의하고 가로축을 상기 라인 안테나들의 위치로 정의하고, 상기 라인 선택 회로에 결합된 상기 복수의 라인 안테나의 타단들 각각에서 유도 전압 값을 샘플링하여 측정된 유도 전압 값의 파형(측정 파형)을 생성하고, 상기 측정 파형을 반전한 파형(가상 파형)을 상기 측정 파형에 연결시켜 연장 파형을 형성하고, 상기 연장 파형에 있어서 상기 가로축과 상승하는 방향으로 교차하는 지점 또는 하강하는 방향으로 교차하는 지점을 상기 전자펜의 위치로 판정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 개선된 구조의 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 복수의 라인 안테나는 2개의 군으로 분할되고,제1군은 일단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되어 상기 감지 영역을 관통하도록 시작하고,제2군은 타단측이 상기 루프 안테나와 연결되어 상기 감지 영역을 관통하도록 시작함으로써 상기 제1군의 라인 안테나와는 역방향으로 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 개선된 구조의 라인 안테나를 갖는 타블렛.
