Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft einen hydrodynamischen Retarder - mit einem in einem Bremsbetrieb umlaufenden Rotor und einem in Gegenrichtung hierzu umlaufenden Gegen lauf rotor oder stationären Stator, welche gemeinsam einen mit einem Arbeitsmedium befüllten oder befüllbaren Arbeitsraum ausbilden; - wobei der Rotor mit Antriebsleistung über einen Antriebsstrang zur Abbremsung des Antriebsstranges antreibbar ist. Die Erfindung ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass - dem Retarder eine Energiespeichervorrichtung zugeordnet oder in diesen integriert ist, umfassend einen mechanischen Energiespeicher, Druckspeicher oder kinetischen Energiespeicher und eine mit dem Rotor verbundene Beschleunigungseinrichtung, wobei die Beschleunigungseinrichtung zur Umwandlung von in dem Energiespeicher gespeicherter Energie in eine Drehbeschleunigung des Rotors an dem Energiespeicher und dem Rotor angeschlossen oder in diesen integriert ist.
