Abstract

The invention relates to a hinge system developed for toilet seats with damper system as well as for the damper systems comprised therein. The hinge system according to the invention comprises a connecting element (1), with a tapered pin (2), a casing of the hinge system (3), a toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) and a hinge pin locking component (5). The hinge pin is locked by means of rotating the locking component (5) in right- left or down-up direction whereby the locking component (5) comprises a slot (8) having an opening through which the pin projects and which narrows down towards the edge sections (9) in right- left or down-up direction with respect to its middle section (10). The pin (2) is fixed by means of rotating the component (5) in right- left or down-up direction since exiting the narrow internal volume sections (9) of the slot (8) is not possible for the pin and hence locking of the system is assured. Unlocking is obtained by means of rotating the component (5) in the reverse direction and releasing the pin again.

BOWL
Technical Field
The invention relates to a hinge system developed for toilet seats with damper system as well as for the damper systems comprised therein.
Background of the Invention
The use of damper systems, which allow the toilet seats to close slowly, in toilet bowls becomes popular and is preferred due to many benefits provided by them. Damper systems used for the toilet seats to close softly, cause trouble at times owing to their complex structures, installation and maintenance difficulties. In the known applications, compression/pressure springs or different shock absorber systems are used as dampers and slow closing of the toilet seats is provided. There are different hinge systems for installing these systems together with toilet seats and these hinge systems have diverse locking mechanisms.
In the case that a hinge pin with a cylindrical tip and an o-ring on the pin or if an o-ring are not used in the prior art hinge systems, the pin is fastened with a set-screw. In these systems, pin fastening, in other words the locking process is carried out with the screw used. In another technique, hinge systems comprising a locking element, by which the system can be locked thanks to its movement of in and out of its slot on the hinge pin, exist in order to facilitate the locking process. In such systems, the movement of the locking element is controlled with the help of a button and the unlocking process is executed by pressing the button.
The patent EP2189092 discloses a hinge system fastened with a screw and comprising a pin with a cylindrical tip and a damper system.
The patent EP2324745 relates to a toilet seat hinge system having the slow close feature. In the said system, locking and unlocking of the hinge is carried out with the help of a button as mentioned above. Locking and unlocking process in the system comprising spring mechanism take place by providing the movement of the component, referred to as "retention element", in and out of its slot on the hinge pin.
Hinge system according to invention, which is easier to use and install, has been developed for eliminating the installation difficulties experienced due to multitude of components and the problems of use in these kinds of systems.
Purpose of the Invention
The purpose of the invention is to provide an easy installation of the damper systems comprised in the toilet seats as well as the toilet seats along with the damper systems.

Description of the Invention
The invention relates to a hinge system developed for toilet seats with damper system as well as for the damper systems comprised therein.
The hinge system according to the invention comprises fastening/connecting element (1) for fastening the toilet seat to the toilet bowl, tapered pin (hinge pin) (2) providing the connection of the fastening element with the casing of the hinge (3), casing of the hinge system (3), toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) and hinge pin locking component (5). Casing of the hinge (3) comprises thereon slots (12, 11) having forms suitable for the placement of hinge pin (2) and toilet seat cover mounting tab (4). Hinge pin locking component (5) enclosing toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) is so positioned on the casing as to surround the whole of it (3) except the slot (12) where the pin (2) will be placed, as shown in Figure 5. Locking component (5) comprises a slot (8) having a special geometric shape, wherein the pin (2) can be placed thereon and cause the system to be locked.
In the hinge system according to the invention, toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) is positioned in its slot (11) on the casing (3) of the hinge system and these components are mounted to the damper (6) comprised in the toilet seat damper mounting slot (7) shown in Figure 3. Hinge pin (2) and hinge pin locking component (5) are positioned in the respective slots on the casing of the hinge (3) in the direction of the arrows (14, 13) shown in Figure 2. Locking component (5) is so positioned on the casing as the middle section (10) of the slot (8) thereon to be aligned with the slot (12) on the casing for allowing the pin (2) to be placed in its slot (12) on the casing. Pin (2) is so positioned on the casing as to be placed in both its slot (12) on the casing and middle section (10) of the slot (8) on the locking component (5) aligned with the said slot (12). After the positioning of the locking component (5) on the casing of the hinge (3), hinge pin (2) is also placed in its slot (12) on the casing and in its slot (8) on the locking component and is aligned with the slot (12) and locking process is carried out by rotating the locking component (5) in one of the directions of the arrows (in a direction that can be defined as right-left or up-down) show in Figure 4. Sections, where the system components are mounted, are shown in detail in Figure 2 and Figure 3.
Locked and unlocked positions of the hinge system are shown in Figures 5 and 6, respectively. In the system according to the invention, set-screw or button is not used for the locking process as done in the current systems. Hinge system can be easily locked by rotating the locking component (5) in right-left or down-up direction, while it can also be easily unlocked by rotating the locking component (5) in reverse direction. As seen in Figures 5 and 6, locking component (5) comprises a slot (8), which has a middle section (10) volume large enough for the passage of the tapered pin (2) and is yet so configured as to form structures with smaller diameter by narrowing down to sections (9) towards right and left or down and up directions relative to the said middle section (10), in other words it narrows down in size to sections (9) towards right and left or down and up directions starting from the middle section (10). Slot's (8) internal volume structure, narrowing down to these sections (9) in a way to prevent the passage of the pin (2), restrains the passage of the pin (2) when the component (5) is rotated (right-left or down-up direction) towards the narrowing sections (9), in other words when the component (5) is locked. Fastening of the pin (2) in the narrowing sections (9) of the slot (8) and hence the locking of the system is assured by the rotation of the locking component (5) in right-left or down-up direction. Exiting the narrow internal volume sections (9) of the slot (8) is not possible and hence locking of the system is assured. Unlocking the system and bringing the locking component (5) back to its former position again is obtained by rotating the component (5) in the reverse direction used for the locking process. Thus, the pin (2) is released by being aligned again with the middle section of the slot (10), through which it can pass and demounting of the system is achieved by the easy detachment of the pin (2) from the connecting element (1). Thanks to the hinge system according to the invention, installation of the damper and toilet seats are facilitated, furthermore, locking process of the pin comprised in hinge systems is also made easier such that it can be performed manually with the use of less components. Thus, the need for screw systems, locking elements employed for the locking process and elements controlling the movement thereof used in prior art is eliminated.

Claims

1. Hinge system developed for toilet seats and damper systems comprised therein, characterized in that the same comprises connecting element (1), casing of the hinge system (3), pin (2) positioned on the casing , toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) positioned on the casing and hinge pin locking component (5) positioned on the casing.
2. Hinge system according to claim 1, characterized in that the pin (2) is a tapered pin.
3. Hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the casing (3) comprises a slot (12) where the tapered pin (2) can fit.
4. Hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the casing (3) comprises a slot (11) where the toilet seat cover mounting tab (4) can fit and which has a shape consistent with the mounting tab (4).

Hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the locking component (5) is positioned on the casing (3) in such a way that it surrounds the casing (3) excluding the slot (12) where the pin will rest and the middle section (10), large enough to allow the passage of the pin, of the slot (8) on the said locking component (5) is aligned with the slot (12) on the said casing (3).

Hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the locking component (5) comprises a slot (8), which has a middle section (10) internal volume large enough for the passage of the pin (2) but narrowing down in size to the section (9) towards right and left or down and up directions relative to the said middle section (10) for preventing the passage of the said pin (2).
7. Hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the pin (2) is so positioned on the casing (3) as to be placed in both its slot (12) on the casing and middle section (10) of the slot (8) on the locking component aligned with the said slot (12).

A method for locking the hinge system according to any preceding claims, characterized in that the hinge system is locked by means of rotating the locking component (5) in right or left or down or up direction and so by fixing the pin (2) in the said edge sections (9) having narrower internal volume with respect to middle section (10) and preventing the releasing/exiting of the pin (2) due to narrower internal volume of these sections (9).
9. A method for unlocking the hinge system according to any preceding claim, characterized in that the lock is unlocked by means of rotating the locking component (5) in the reverse direction of the rotating direction for locking process, releasing the said pin (2) by aligning it with the middle section (10) of the slot (8) large enough to allow for the passage of the pin (2) and separating the said pin (2) from the connecting element (1).
