  • Retinex theory is a theory that models human visual characteristics.
  • the brightness of an object is determined by the product of the reflectance of the object and the illumination light, and the perception of the eye with respect to the brightness of the object has a strong correlation with the reflectance of the object. It is to show. Accordingly, when gradation conversion is performed, if only the illumination light component of the input image is compressed and the reflectance component of the object is maintained, an image with high contrast without blackout and whiteout can be obtained. Although it is not easy to accurately separate the illumination light and reflectance from the captured image, it is assumed that the illumination light is likely to be continuously changing in real space. The low frequency component thus obtained can be regarded as an illumination light component. Then, by compressing the illumination light component and multiplying the compressed illumination light component by the reflectance component of the input image, an image with high contrast can be obtained.

By doing so, the low frequency component of the edge portion where the illumination light changes rapidly is smoothed to prevent the edge from becoming loose, and the occurrence of halo is suppressed.
  • Patent Document 1 since the pixel values of the target pixel and the peripheral pixels are compared, the difference is caused by a difference in illumination light or a difference in reflectance of an object. It is not considered whether there is. Therefore, when the illumination light component is calculated by the method of Patent Document 1, in the region where the difference in the illumination light component is small and the difference in the reflectance component of the object is large, the reflectance component of the object is reflected in the illumination light component. When the light component is compressed, the reflected light component of the object is also compressed. As a result, the contrast is lowered and the image quality is deteriorated.

Description

  Y=0.29891×R+ 0.58661×G+0.11448×B     ・・・(1)
  L = ( 50×1 + 100×16 + 150×3 + 200×5 ) / 25 = 124
  L = ( 50×1.0×1 + 100×1.00×16 + 150×0.00×3 + 200×0.00×5 ) / ( 1.0×1 + 1.00×16 + 0.00×3 + 0.00×5 )
    = 97
  L = ( 50×1.0×1 + 100×0.25×13 + 100×0.50×3 + 150×0.5×3 + 200×1.00×5 ) / ( 1.0×6 + 0.50×6 + 0.25×13 )
    = 143
Figure JPOXMLDOC01-appb-M000001
Figure JPOXMLDOC01-appb-M000002
  Y=R×L      ・・・(4)
  R=R′       ・・・(6)
