Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method for overwrapping identical or similar products (A) and for boxing the overwrapped products (A). According to the invention, the overwrapping device comprises means (38) of dispensing overwrapping blanks (F) and means (22) for loading products (A) grouped together within a work station for distributing and loading preparatory batches (LP) and means (72) for closing preparatory batches (LP) and means (74) for offloading overwrapped batches (Ls) grouped together within a work station for closing and offloading the overwrapped batches (Ls). The device also comprises receiving means (50) comprising a first pair of shuttle shapers (52) designed to adjust the volume of the overwrapping blanks (F) around the products (A) in order to receive the preparatory batches (LP). These shuttle shapers (52) of the first pair are arranged along a first distribution path (V1) and able to be moved along the first distribution path (V1) in phase opposition to one another so that, during operation, when one of the shuttle shapers (52) of the first pair is in position in the work station for distributing and loading the preparatory batches (LP), the other of the shuttle shapers (52) of the first pair is in position in the work station for closing and offloading the overwrapped batches (Ls), and vice versa.
