Description

SOLID FUEL FIRED BOILER WITH A GAS BURNER FOR HOUSEHOLD USE AND
GAS COMBUSTION METHOD
The invention belongs to the field of heating appliances, namely solid fuel boilers.
A known generator with a burner of gas obtained from organic materials described in Patent Application No. 2009 054 published in 2010 in the official gazette of the State Patent Bureau Isradimai, dizainas, preki¾ zenklai ("Inventions, design, trade marks") No. 4, consists of a metal housing, a fuel stocking shaft, air supply units, two combustion chambers, a combustible gas collection chamber, a burner, and metal collectors arranged in the direction of the burner. The burner is made of a tube with double perforated walls.
The known technical solution does not guarantee intensive formation of fuel mixture or effective combustion and at the same time efficient transfer of heat to the heat exchanger.
The aim of the invention is to increase the intensity of fuel mixture formation, the efficiency of its combustion and at the same time the efficiency of the boiler.
In order to achieve the objective of the invention, the fuel stocking shaft of the solid fuel fired boiler, where the initial amount of air is supplied through a valve in the shaft door, is directly connected to a metal burner which consists of double-wall housing with a hollow channel installed in the gas combustion chamber. The housing of the burner has some openings: one opening is in the outer wall of the burner housing for secondary air supply from the space between the walls of the burner and other openings are for releasing heated secondary air into the burner channel. Besides, there is a metal ring mounted in the burner channel, which reduces the opening for combustible gas entering the channel. Furthermore, to achieve the objective, an additional air supply tube is installed before the burner on the side of the fuel stocking shaft.
The objective of the invention is also achieved by supplying a secondary amount of air from the ambience through the opening in the outer wall of the burner between the burner walls, which moves towards the openings of the inner walls and is heated up by the hot burner walls and then goes out through the openings of the inner walls of the burner into the burner channel where it gets mixed with the combustible gas from the combustion chamber which has entered the burner channel through the metal ring and thus produces a fuel mixture combusted in the channel of the burner. Moreover, to achieve the objective of the invention, additional air is supplied into the burner through the air tube installed before the burner on the side of the fuel stocking shaft.
The invention is illustrated in a drawing.
The housing of the solid fuel fired boiler for household use 1 is made of welded sheet metal. The inner walls of the boiler, which have direct contact with the flame and combustion products, are 6 mm thick; the outer walls are 4 mm thick. From outside, the boiler is insulated. The cavity between the walls is filled with water. Inside of the boiler housing, there is a fuel stocking shaft 2. The top of the fuel stocking shaft 2 is covered with a fire resistant lid 3. The combustion chamber 4 at the bottom of the fuel stocking shaft 2 is separated from the chamber with fire resistant grating 5. The fuel shaft 6 has a door with a valve designed to adjust the amount of the initial air supply, which is used to ignite the solid fuel in the fuel stocking shaft 2, to supply the initial air into the combustion chamber 4, and to clean the combustion chamber 4 from burnt particles of fuel (ash, soot). The fuel stocking shaft 2 is connected to the burner 7 mounted in the gas combustion chamber 8. The burner 7 is made of metal. It is resistant to heat and high temperature fluctuations. It consists of housing with double walls and a hollow channel 9. To reduce the opening for entering gas, a metal ring 10 is installed at one end of the burner 7, through which combustible gas enters from the combustion chamber 4. Such reduction in a section of the channel 9 of the burner guarantees efficient diffusion of the combustible gas towards the broader section of the channel 9 of the burner. The housing of the burner 7 has several openings: one opening 11 in the outer wall of the burner housing for the secondary air supply from the space between the walls of the burner and other openings 12 in the inner wall of the burner for releasing heated secondary air into the channel 9 of the burner 7. Besides, an additional air supply tube 13 can be installed before the burner 7 on the side of the fuel stocking shaft 2, since the amount of supplied air determines the maintenance of the gas combustion process and its intensity as well as an efficient heat transfer to the heat exchanger 14.
The solid fuel fired boiler with the burner 7 is connected to the elements of the heating system. At the top level of the boiler there is a water outlet pipe 15, at the bottom part of the boiler there is a water inlet (return) pipe 16. The construction of the boiler provides for the function of boiler extinction. A safety valve is installed for this purpose (not in the drawing). It protects the boiler against excessive pressure. Combustion products are discharged into the ambience through the chimney 17.
Boiler operation.
The lid 3 of the fuel stocking shaft 2 is opened and the shaft is loaded with fuel. The initial air is supplied into the combustion chamber 4 through the valve in the door 6 and solid fuel is fired. Wood, solid wood waste, billets, coal, peat and sawdust briquettes, and grain can be used as solid fuel. During the lower combustion process at the grating 5, combustible gas is released. From the combustion chamber 4, combustible gas gets through the metal ring 10 into the channel 9 of the burner 7. After the combustible gas passes through the zone of the metal ring 10, it intensively expands along the hollow channel 9 of the burner 7. Heated secondary air also gets into the channel 9 of the burner 7 through the openings 12 in the inner wall. Through the opening in the outer wall 11, the secondary amount of air from the ambience first gets between the walls of the burner 7, which heat it up while it moves towards the openings of the inner walls 12. The heated air mixes with combustible gas and produces a fuel mixture. The fuel mixture combusts at a high temperature: 900 °C - 1700 °C. The heat generated by the combusted fuel mixture - heated air and combustion products - rises to the top of the boiler (shown by arrows in the drawing) and releases heat to the heat exchanger 14. Combustion products are discharged through the chimney 17.
If required for the combustion process, additional air can be supplied through the tube 13 further to the primary and secondary air supply amounts.
The solid fuel fired boiler is intended for heating small and large premises (up to 1000 m2). The construction of the boiler ensures an effective combustion process and an efficient transfer of heat to the heat exchanger. Due to the primary, secondary and additional air supply, the combustion process is intensive and stable. Besides, the technical solution of the burner ensures intensive mixing of combustible gas and heated air and a complete combustion of combustible gas at a high temperature. The advantage of the boiler is that that wet fuel can be used for heating the combustion process whereof releases gas, which burns in the combustion chamber and maintains a combustion temperature exceeding 1500 °C.
