Abstract
The present invention relates to a display unit with an integrated frame and with a backing that is removably connected to this integrated frame.
Description
DISPLAY UNIT HAVING INTEGRATED FRAME
Field of Invention The present invention relates to a display unit with an integrated-frame and a backing that is removably connected to this integrated frame.
Background of Invention Tools for display purposes are frequently used for indoor and outdoor advertisements. In general terms, a display unit comprises a frame, formed by perpendicularly connecting the to each other by their ends; a backing, closing the blank remaining within this frame and keeping a material to be displayed on itself; a spring-profile, positioned on the front side of, and open- and closable with respect to the frame; and a transparent protector covered over the display material.
Since production and assembly operations of conventional display units require substantial labor and time, the outcomes are of high costs and disadvantageous with respect to the maintainability of quality standards. For instance, according to a production method of conventional frames, the parts and backing, which compose the frame components, are first cut in line with their dimensions, are then bored at their corresponding sections by which they are to be assembled, then the corner joining elements are cut in proper dimensions, such that the frames are joined at their assembly sites.
On the other hand, it is known that single-piece (integral) type display units, of which the frame and backing are manufactured via plastic injection-like production methods, do feature some drawbacks as well. For instance, as the size of a single-piece display unit made of plastic materials increases, molding the plastic material becomes more difficult technically and the production cost increases substantially. Additionally, since the product is single-piece, it becomes impossible to change the backing according to user wishes. In other words, it is not feasible in such products to made the backing from other materials such as cork, cardboard, etc.. In US 2001023549 is disclosed a display unit with changeable frame elements.
In EP 1238607 is disclosed a display unit, which is composed of an outer frame and an inner frame, and in which these frames are connected to each other by means of a hinge.
In GB 2005535, on the other hand, is disclosed a display unit, having parts that become polygon-shaped once assembled to hold and display a display material. Said parts comprise a front and a rear section, which are engaged mutually in a pivotal manner.
Brief Description of Invention In order to eliminate the aforesaid drawbacks, the object of the present invention is to provide a functional display unit with minimized production and assembly times and labor requirements and the backing made changeable optionally.
In order to achieve this object, the present invention provides a display unit comprising a frame; a backing which closes the blank remaining within this frame and keeps a display material on its front side; and a spring-profile positioned optionally on the front side of and open- and closable with respect to the frame. The frame of the display unit according to the present invention has a single-piece (integrated) form obtained via molding. The backing of the display unit mounted to the single-piece frame can be of various materials.
The frame according to the present invention is preferably made of plastic material and is preferably obtained by means of injection molding method.
According to a variation of the present invention, two single-piece frames are joined together directly along their upper edges by means of a pin and along their vertical edges by means of a connection arm, so that an "A-board" type display unit is obtained.
Description of Figures In order to make clear the present invention, it has to be assessed together with annexed figures briefly described hereunder.
Figure 1 is a perspective illustration of a frame according to the present invention. Figure 2 is a cross-sectional illustration of a frame profile according to the present invention.

Detailed Description of Invention Display unit according to the present invention comprises a single-piece frame (1), a backing (4), made of a material such as plastic, cardboard, glass, sheet metal, etc., and filling the blank interior of this frame (1) by engaging thereto, and a profile (2), provided on the frame (1) by means of a joint (7) in a manner by which it can be opened and closed with the aid of spring (3).
A material to be displayed (e.g. poster) is situated on the front side of the backing (4), and
over this material, in turn, is optionally placed a transparent protective layer (6). A fixation piece (5) is provided along the edges of the backing (4), tightening these edges, in order to prevent any displacement of the backing (4) relative to the frame (1). Horizontal and vertical parts of the frame (1) according to the present invention are not assembled to each other by an extra mounting operation, this is because it is in single- piece form and is made of a plastic material obtained preferably via plastic injection method. A variational arrangement of the single-piece frame according to the present invention provides an advantageously-used "A-board" type display unit, obtained by joining two frames along their upper edges directly and along their vertical edges by means of an arm (15). In such a product, production and assembly times can be substantially lowered. Therefore the frame (1) according to the present invention comprises at least one connection piece (8) at its upper edge, which is integrated to the frame, and at least one arm connection slot (10), provided at a region close to the middle height of the vertical edges of the frame. Connection pieces (8) comprise a hole (9), so that when it is desired to join one frame with another by their upper edges, the connection piece holes (9) of the frames are aligned and the frames are connected to each other by their upper edges by means of a pin (17) and a connection element such as a ring (18) retaining said pin. The "A-board" type display unit is made standing stably on the floor by means of two arms (15), which are opened/closed like a scissor and mutually join the arm connection holes (11) formed on the arm connection slots (10).
The frame of the "A-board" type display unit arranged according to an alternative arrangement of the present invention further comprises leg slots (12) integrated to the frame (1) for the legs (16) adjustably assembled to itself (1) so that the frame can made stand on the floor. These leg slots (12) extend upwards along vertical edges, starting from the lower part of the frame (1); there are further formed leg connection holes (13) on the frame to fix the legs (16) to the frame (1) at desired locations, once the legs (16) are placed in their slots (12). The holes provided on the legs (16) are aligned with the leg connection holes (13) to fix the legs (16) and a fixation element like a screw or pin is introduced through these aligned holes so that the legs (16) are fixed.
The "A-board" type display unit formed by joining the frames (1) according to the present
invention further comprises a logo surface (14) provided on the upper edge of the frame an integrated manner.
Claims
1. A display unit comprising a frame (1); a backing (4) which closes the blank remaining within this frame (1) and keeps a display material on its front side; and a profile (2) with spring (3), positioned optionally on the front side of and open- and closable with respect to the frame (1 ), characterized in that said frame (1 ) has an integrated form obtained by means of molding.
2. A display unit according to Claim 1 , wherein said frame (1 ) is preferably made of a plastic material, obtained by means of injection molding method.
3. A display unit according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said frame (1) comprises at least one connection piece (8) integrated to the frame (1) at an upper edge thereof and a hole (9) at said connection pieces.
4. A display unit according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that said frame (1) comprises at least one arm connection slot (10) provided at a region preferably close to the middle height of the vertical edges thereof and arm connection holes (11 ) formed at these slots.
5. A display unit according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that said frame (1) comprises leg slots (12) integrated to the frame (1 ) in order to assemble legs (16) thereto.
6. A display unit according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that said legs (16) comprises leg connection holes (13) formed at the frame in order to fasten the legs (16) to the frame (1) in an adjustable manner.
7. A display unit according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that said frame (1) comprises an integrated logo surface (14), arranged on the upper edge thereof (1 ).
8. A display unit according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that two of said frames (1) are joined directly by their upper edges by means of connection pieces (8) and by an arm placed at arm connection slots at the vertical edges thereof (1) in order to form an A-board.
