Items to be protected are often provided with a security element that allows verification of the authenticity of the item and at the same time serves as protection against unauthorized reproduction.

Items to be protected include, for example, security papers, identity and value documents (such as bank notes, chip cards, passports, identification cards, identity cards, stocks, bonds, certificates, vouchers, Checks, tickets, credit cards, health cards, ...) as well as product security elements such as labels, seals, packaging.

The security against forgery of a security element is particularly great when the security element shows perceptible motifs that are generated by an optical effect that can not be reproduced with a copied motif.

A combination of microstructure elements with overlying microlenses has proven to be particularly tamper-proof which magnifies the microstructure elements. Here, the so-called Moire effect can be used. Such security elements are therefore also referred to as "modulo mapping" or "Moire Magnifier". An exemplary description of such a security element can be found in WO 2008/031170 AI, according to which the microlenses and the microstructures are produced by using an embossable lacquer. Such optical structures can not be reproduced with conventional copying processes, since the optical imaging can be designed in particular as dependent on the viewing angle. For example, this is known. an orthoparallactic effect.

For this security against counterfeiting, however, an optical image is required, which is why optical elements, for example in the form of said microlens, are necessary. As a rule, their imaging effect requires that the optical elements, eg the microlenses, have an uneven surface. The front of the optical structure is therefore usually not plan. Unwanted reproduction of the optical elements by molding the surface can therefore not be ruled out. The invention is therefore the object of developing a security element of the type mentioned so that the security against counterfeiting is increased. This object is achieved by a security element for security papers, documents of value or the like, having a carrier having a front side and a rear side, a lamination applied to the carrier and an optical structure comprising an optical element having a lower and an upper side, and produces a visually perceptible from the top motif, wherein the carrier has at least one window, the optical structure is placed on the back of the carrier over the window, with its top to the front, so that the subject from the front through the window Visible visually, and the lamination is attached to the back, and covers the optical structure on the underside.

This choice of terminology serves the conceptual distinction of the top surfaces of the support and optical structure and is otherwise not intended to represent a technical limitation.

The invention thus provides that the optical structure which generates the particularly forgery-proof motif is applied to the back of the security element so that its upper side and thus the motif generated by the optical structure through a window in the security element when viewed from the front of the security element are visible. At the same time, the optical element is covered by the lamination from the rear side of the carrier. This construction makes it possible to embed the optical element (for example comprising a moire magnifier or a modulo mapper or other optically active structures) in a security element. The underside of the optical structure is covered, allowing access for unauthorized reproduction, e.g. B. by impression, difficult. The underside of the optical structure is further protected against mechanical influence and chemical influence.

The same applies to the top of the optical structure. This is located in the window and can therefore be molded only very difficult. At the same time they or the like against contamination protected, which in particular provided at the top optical elements that protrude spatially, z. B.

in microlens elements, is advantageous. The optical structure has optical elements on its upper side. These optical elements may particularly preferably be a microlens array, which cooperates with microstructures underlying the upper side. In this way, a Moir0 magnifier or a modulo-mapping element, as known from WO 2009/000528, can be realized in the optical structure. According to experience, such elements are particularly tamper-proof. However, the optical element of the optical structure may also be, for example, a Fresnel structure or a hologram. With regard to the 3D structure, in particular the structure disclosed in DE 10 2009 056 934 can be used. The disclosure of the two writings mentioned in this paragraph is fully incorporated here.

For increased security against counterfeiting, it is possible to colorize or colorize microstructures that are embedded on the underside of the optical structure by the lamination. This can be done by color filling, as described in WO 2005/052650, microtip printing, as described in DE 102006 029852, or by filling with nanoparticles or nanostructures. The publications mentioned herein are to be considered as fully incorporated into this description. It is also possible to provide microstructures with a transparent or semitransparent metallization or with a layer system which effects viewing-angle-dependent color properties (so-called color shift). It is also possible to embed the microstructures with a lacquer system which is located between the microstructures and the embedment has a refractive index difference of at least 0.3.

The optical structure can be particularly preferably provided in the form of a separately produced strip, which is then applied to the carrier. For further protection against counterfeiting, it is advantageous to provide a further security element in this strip in addition to the optical structure at other locations, e.g. an additional hologram. This is only visible from the back, as it is not over the window.

Of course, a strip may be used which has a plurality of optical structures, if appropriate in the carrier correspondingly more windows are formed.

The overlapping of the optical structure according to the invention on the back side of the carrier has, as a further advantage, that such a strip can be printed well, since a uniform pressure-accepting layer is available. The security element can be designed, in particular, as a security thread, tear-open thread, security strip, security strip, patch or as a label for application to a security paper, value document or the like. The term security paper is understood here in particular as the precursor that can not yet be processed to form a value document which, in addition to the security element according to the invention, may also have further authenticity features (such as, for example, luminescent substances provided in the volume). Under value documents are here on the one hand from security understood documents. On the other hand, value documents can also be other documents and objects which can be provided with the security feature according to the invention, so that the value documents have non-copyable authenticity features, whereby an authenticity check is possible and at the same time unwanted copies are prevented.

The manufacturing method according to the invention can be developed so that the described preferred embodiments and embodiments of the security element are produced.

The banknote 1 is constructed on a carrier 7, into which the window 4 is introduced (eg by punching), preferably after a foil has been laminated onto the front side 2. However, this lamination is only required if a corresponding film is desired on the front. The structure of the front side 2 is otherwise irrelevant to the security element described here. The optical element 8 of the strip 6 is constructed as follows. It has on its upper side 15 microlenses 9, which were produced for example by embossing a suitable plastic layer.
