Description

RETRACTABLE HANDLE ROTATING MECHANISM BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention:
The present invention relates to a rotating mechanism and more particularly, to a retractable handle rotating mechanism, which causes a first tubular rod member of the retractable handle to rotate relative to a second tubular rod member thereof when the user moves the second tubular rod member axially relative to the first tubular rod member.
2. Description of the Related Art:
After using a mop to mop up the floor, it is necessary to wash the mop head with water and then to dry the mop head. When drying the mop head, the user may have to squeeze or twist the mop head, expel water out of the mop head. To facilitate drying the mop head of a mop, a dewatering device may be used. A dewatering device for mop is known comprising a basket rotatably mounted in a water container, a pedal, a gear set coupled between the pedal and the basket drivable by the pedal to rotate the basket in causing a centrifugal force for drying the mop head of a mop. This design facilitates drying the mop head of a mop. However, when using the A dewatering device to dry the mop head of a mop, the user must holds the handle of the mop with the hands and pedal the pedal with one foot to rotate the basket. When using the dewatering device, the user is difficult to keep the body in balance. Further, this dewatering device is still not very convenient to use.
Therefore, it is desirable to provide a measure or means that eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks.
l SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is one obj ect of the present invention to provide a retractable handle rotating mechanism, which causes a first tubular rod member of the retractable handle to rotate relative to a second tubular rod member thereof when the user moves the second tubular rod member axially relative to the first tubular rod member.
To achieve this and other objects of the present invention, a retractable handle rotating mechanism comprises a retractable handle and a driving device. The retractable handle comprises a first tubular rod member, a second tubular rod member sleeved onto and axially movable relative to the first tubular rod member, a locating member located on the top end of the second tubular rod member, and a spiral rod member connected to the locating member and axially extending to the inside of the first tubular rod member. The driving device is fixedly mounted inside the top end of the first tubular rod member. The driving device comprises a cylindrical casing fixedly mounted inside the first tubular rod member, and a transmission member mounted in the cylindrical casing. The cylindrical casing comprises a chamber defined therein in communication between two distal ends thereof and a first thread spirally arranged on an inside wall of the cylindrical casing at a lower end of the chamber. The transmission member is movably mounted in the chamber, comprising a second thread spirally extending around the peripheral thereof and engageable with the first thread and a thread groove spirally arranged on an inside wall between two distal ends thereof and meshed with the spiral rod member. The driving device further comprises a plug cap set in one end of the cylindrical casing and having a center through hole extending through two distal ends thereof, and a bush set in between the plug cap and the cylindrical casing.
Further, the retractable handle further comprises a stop block affixed to the distal end of the spiral rod member remote from the locating member.

Referring to FIGS. 1 ~5, a retractable handle rotating mechanism in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a retractable handle 1 and a driving device 2.
The retractable handle 1 includes a first tubular rod member 11 , a second tubular rod member 12 sleeved onto and axially movable relative to the first tubular rod member 11 , a locating member 121 located on the top end of the second tubular rod member 12, a spiral rod member 122 connected to the locating member 121 and axially extending to the inside of the first tubular rod member 11, a stop block 123 affixed to the distal end of the spiral rod member 122 remote from the locating member 121 and a mop head 13 located on one end, namely, the bottom end of the first tubular rod member 11 remote from the second tubular rod member 12.
The driving device 2 is fixedly mounted inside the other end, namely, the top end of the first tubular rod member 11 , comprising a cylindrical casing 21 , which is peripherally affixed to the inside wall of the first tubular rod member 11 and has a chamber 211 defined therein in communication between the two distal ends thereof and a first thread 212 that is spirally arranged on the inside wall of the cylindrical casing 21 at the lower end of the chamber 211, a transmission member 22, which is movably mounted in the chamber 211 and has a second thread 221 spirally extending around the peripheral thereof and engageable with the first thread 212 and a thread groove 222 spirally arranged on the inside wall between the two distal ends thereof and meshed with the spiral rod member 122, a plug cap 23, which is set in one end of the cylindrical casing 21 and has a center through hole 231 extending through two distal ends thereof, and a bush 24 set in between the plug cap 23 and the cylindrical casing 21.
Referring to FIGS . 6 and 7 and FIGS. 1 , 2 and 4 again, when using the rotary control type retractable handle in accordance with the present invention, holds the second tubular rod member 12 with one hand and pushes the second tubular rod member 12 in direction toward the bottom end of the first tubular rod member 11. At this time, the locating member 121 and the connected spiral rod member 122 will be moved with the second tubular rod member 12 toward the first tubular rod member 11. As the thread groove 222 is meshed with the spiral rod member 122, the transmission member 22 will be forced to rotate and to move in the chamber 211 in direction away from the plug cap 23. When the end edge of the transmission member 22 is stopped at the bottom side of the chamber 211 in the cylindrical casing 21, the first thread 212 of the cylindrical casing 21 is forced into mesh with the second thread 221 of the transmission member 22. At this time, the transmission member 22 is stopped inside the cylindrical casing 21 and prohibited from downward movement, and the spiral rod member 122 is continuously forced against the thread groove 222, causing rotation of the transmission member 22 and rotation of the cylindrical casing 21 with the transmission member 22, and therefore the first tubular rod member 11 and the mop head 13 are rotated. When the user continuously pushes the second tubular rod member 12 toward the first tubular rod member 11 to stop the locating member 121 against the plug cap 23, the second tubular rod member 12 is stopped from further movement relative to the first tubular rod member 11 , and therefore the spiral rod member 122 is stopped. At this time, the first tubular rod member 11 keeps rotating rapidly, causing the first thread 212 of the cylindrical casing 21 to propel the second thread 221 of the transmission member 22, and therefore the transmission member 22 is forced to rotate and to move in the chamber 211 toward the plug cap 23 and to further disengage the second thread 221 of the transmission member 22 from the first thread 212 of the cylindrical casing 21 for allowing free rotation of the cylindrical casing 21 with the first tubular rod member 11.
Further, when the user pulls the second tubular rod member 12 in direction away from the first tubular rod member 11 , the locating member 121 and the connected spiral rod member 122 will be moved with the second tubular rod member 12 away from the first tubular rod member 11. As the thread groove 222 is meshed with the spiral rod member 122, the transmission member 22 will be forced to rotate and to move in the chamber 211 in direction toward the plug cap 23, avoiding meshing between the first thread 212 of the cylindrical casing 21 and the second thread 221 of the transmission member 22. When repeating the aforesaid step, the first tubular rod member 11 will be rotated rapidly, causing the mop head 13 to produce a centrifugal force and to discharge the contained water.
Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
