Description

Air curtain generator for refrigerated display case
The utility model comprises an air curtain generator for refrigerated display case, particularly for vertical display cases.
Refrigerated display cases are usually used in commercial establishments for storage and presentation purposes of food in temperatures lower than the ambient temperature. Such display cases consist of a display chamber with thermally isolated walls and an open front and separated from the surroundings by an curtain of air cooled to a temperature below the temperature of the surroundings.
From description of a utility model no. 61115 a refrigerated display case is known, with the display chamber surrounded by walls made of internal and external layers, with isolation between them. The bottom part of the display case comprises a ventilation set and an evaporator, from which along the back and the upper walls a channel runs with an outlet located outside the display chamber and directed downwards. The air, pushed by a fan and cooled in the evaporator is exhausted through an upper outlet, and flowing down along the display chamber creates an air curtain that separates the chamber from the surroundings, thus allowing to keep the temperature in the chamber lower than the ambient temperature.
In the description of claim in Poland no. 367690 (PCT/FR02/o2814), a vertical display case is included, the shape of which is inscribed in a cuboid. In the lower part of the display case there is a chamber with a cover in the front in the form of a louver wall. In the chamber behind the cover, a fan is mounted that sucks in the air from the outside. Behind the fan there is a heat exchanger that cools down the air that was suck in. The chamber has an outlet to a channel that runs within the back wall of the display case and has holes on different levels. The holes let the air inside the display chamber. Next, the channel goes within the upper wall of the display chamber to outlets directed downwards.
The upper wall of the display case has an inlet for the surrounding air, wherefrom a channel runs to the downward outlet. Behind the outlet, a fan is mounted that sucks the air in and pushes it into the outlet, wherefrom it flows downwards as an external stream of the air curtain.
The solution according to the utility model consists in that in the lower part of the refrigerated display case there is an outlet of the warmer air system, to which a channel is connected, the starting part of which runs along the bottom wall of the display case, its middle part runs along the back wall of the display case, and its end ; part runs along the top wall of the display case, having at the end an outlet of warmer air. This outlet is located outside the outlet of cooler air. In the channel, at least one fan is mounted. Preferably, the warmer air system is a repetitive, at least one, module of such air flow in the display case. This means that depending on the display case and its dimensions, there may be several warmer air flow systems or more than one channel. Air inlet and outlet also means that there may be more outlets and/or inlets, depending on a particular technical solution (within the scope of claims), and on design.
Preferably, in the inlet of the cooling chamber there is an air filter, or in the inlet of the beginning part of the warmer air channel, there is an air filter mounted.
The advantage of the presented solution is that it enables to recover cold air released to the surroundings from the internal flow of cooler air, and next to introduce it to the external flow of warmer air.
As an effect of lowering the temperature of the external stream, heat exchange between the flowes decreases, and thus less energy is consumed for purposes of cooling the air introduced to the internal stream. The tests conducted proved that energy consumption decreased by a few percent as a result of this.
A side effect of sealing the closed flow of cooler air is removing the reason for lowering the ambient temperature, which decreases the energy consumption for heating the room.
The device according to the utility model is presented in the drawings, where fig.l is a reference front view of the refrigerated display case, fig.2 presents the axonometric front view of the refrigerated display case, fig. 3 presents the schematic back view of the refrigerated display case, and fig.4 is a vertical cross- section of the refrigerated display case, in a bigger scale in respect to other figures, for the sake of better clarity.
A typical refrigerated display case 1 has a shape inscribed in a cuboid, the five walls 2 of which constitute a thermally isolated casing. The biggest and the most visually exposed element of the display case 1 is the display chamber 3, open at the front and having food shelves 4 mounted inside. Under the display chamber 3 there is a cooling chamber 5 having in its front part a louver inlet of the cooler air and the surrounding air.
In the cooling chamber 5 behind the inlet 6 there is a fan 7 that sucks in the air from the internal flow of cooler air B and, to complement its losses, from the external flow of warmer air C. The fan 7 pushes the air to the heat exchanger 8, where it is cooled to the desired temperature and directed to the channel 9 of cooler air. The channel 9 consists of a vertical part 9a running between the back wall 3b of the display chamber 3 and the back wall 2b of the display case 1. In the back wall 3b there are outlets 10, through which cooler air is pushed from the vertical part 9a to the display chamber 3. At the top of the display case 1, the vertical part 9a becomes an end part 9b, running between the upper wall 3c of the display chamber 3 and the upper wall 2c of the display case 1. The channel of the cooler air 9 is terminated with a downward outlet 11 of cooler air, located at the end of the end part 9b.
Below the bottom wall 2a of the display case 1, at the front, there is an inlet 13 of the warmer air channel 12 that consists of the horizontal front part 12a, middle part 12b running outside the back wall 2b of the display case 1, and a horizontal end part 12c. In the front part 12a, the bed serves as the bottom. In the end part 12c, a warmer air fan 15 is mounted that sucks in the air through the inlet 13 and pushes it through the channel 12 to a downward outlet 14 located at the end part 12c outside the outlet 11 of the cooler air channel 9.
In the inlet 6 of the air cooling chamber 5, a removable air filter is mounted, and in the inlet 13 of the front part 12a of the warmer air channel 12, a removable air filter is mounted.
