Abstract
Description
この浄化用触媒を用いた自動車、例えばガソリンエンジン車あるいはディーゼルエンジン車では触媒活性とともに燃費の向上を図るために種々のシステムが用いられている。例えば、燃費を上げるために定常運転中では空燃比(A/F)がリーン(酸素過剰)の条件で燃焼させ、触媒活性を向上させるために一時的にストイキ(理論空燃比、A/F=14.7)~リッチ(燃料過剰)の条件で燃焼させている。
このように従来公知の貴金属触媒では、浄化性能を得るために浄化用触媒を高温にするためのエネルギーと浄化用触媒を一時的に還元雰囲気にするための燃料とエンジンでの空燃比(A/F)を低くすることが必要であり、自動車用エンジンを始め内燃機関の燃費を向上するためには低温および/又は酸化雰囲気でNOX浄化性能を発揮し得る新たな浄化用触媒が求められている。
一方、前記の貴金属触媒はいずれも資源枯渇の問題を抱えており、他の金属を用いて従来の貴金属触媒と同程度以上の浄化性能を有する触媒又は貴金属の使用量を少なくし得る浄化触媒が求められている。
このため、浄化用触媒について種々の改良の試みがなされている。
また、特許第3760717号公報には、金属酸化物又は炭素質材料の担体に高温高圧流体を用いてPt、Pd、Rh、Ru、Ir、Os、Au、Ag、Cu、Fe、Niからなる群から選択される少なくとも一種の金属の超微粒子を担持させた低温有害ガス浄化触媒が記載されている。そして、前記公報には具体例としてPt、Pd、Rh、Ru、Fe、Ni又はAuの1種類を高温高圧法又は超臨界法で担持させた浄化触媒が示されている。
従って、本発明の目的は、低温および/又は酸化雰囲気でNOX浄化性能を奏し得る触媒を提供することである。
本発明は、窒素酸化物浄化用触媒であって、固体中でAu原子とFe原子とが近接した状態で存在している触媒に関する。
前記の固体中でAu原子とFe原子とが近接した状態とは、Au原子およびFe原子の一方の原子に接して他方の原子の少なくとも1つが一次粒子であるナノ粒子中又は薄膜中で存在している状態にある近接した状態で含むことをいう。
以下、図面を参照して本発明の実施の形態を詳説する。
本発明のNOX浄化用触媒は、例えば図1の(1)に示すように担体、例えば酸化物担体上でAu原子とFe原子とが均一に分散した完全固溶(合金化)して近接した状態であってもよく、又は図1の(2)に示すように酸化物担体上にAu原子が積層された薄膜上にFe原子が積層されて積層面でAu原子とFe原子とが近接した状態(又はこの逆の構成であってもよい)であってもよく、又は図1の(3)に示すように酸化物担体上にAu原子とFe原子とが各々一部の領域に積層されてその境界でAu原子とFe原子とが近接した不完全固溶状態であってもよい。前記の図1の(2)に示す構成であっても、加熱によって少なくとも近接した両元素の固溶(合金化)が進むと考えられる。また粒子であればコアシェルの構造であってもよい。
O2脱離をしない又は困難なことが浄化触媒の活性を下げている要因であり、従来のRh触媒では酸化雰囲気ではNOを浄化できず、ストイキや還元雰囲気にして金属を還元し酸化雰囲気でのO2脱離温度よりも低温でO2脱離を促進していたのである。FeAu合金を活性点として使用することによって、O2の脱離温度が下がるため450℃程度の低い温度でも酸化雰囲気でNO浄化することが可能となる。FeAuであれば還元温度もO2脱離温度と同様に低くなるため、還元剤の存在で酸化雰囲気よりさらに低温でNOを浄化し得ると考えられる。
前記のAu原子とFe原子の両原子と合金化可能な他の金属原子としては、例えば合金化によってAuの耐熱性を改善し得るW(タングステン)を挙げることができる。
また、前記の担体材料としては、Al2O3(アルミナ)、ZrO2(ジルコニア)、CeO2(セリア)、TiO2(チタニア)や炭化ケイ素を挙げることが出来る。
前記の薄膜において、Feの堆積量、酸化還元雰囲気、加熱温度および加熱時間を変えることによって最外層における両元素の組成を変えることが可能である。
前記の加熱は、例えば赤外線レーザーで堆積物を450℃以下の温度、例えば350~450℃に加熱して行い得る。
また、前記の加熱は、輻射加熱方式や電子線加熱であってもよい。また、加熱の際に、堆積物を置く試料台はよく加熱された履歴を持つものが好適であり、例えば加熱により反応性の高いガスを放出しないものが望ましい。
また、本発明のNOX浄化用触媒は、図16に示すように、前記固体がAuとFeとを主成分とする一次粒子又は薄膜であって、固体表面のFeもしくはAuの表面濃度が両元素の合計量に対して原子比として1/7~6/7であることが好ましい。
また、本発明のNOX浄化用触媒によれば、エンジンでの空燃比(A/F)を低くすることが必要でなく、例えば高い空燃比(A/F)、例えば理論的には定常運転時に、ガソリンエンジンの場合はA/Fが14.7より大きく、例えばA/F≧20、ディーゼルエンジンの場合はA/F≧30を可能とし得る。
以下の各例において、得られた触媒の評価は以下に示す測定法によって行った。

下記の各工程によって、Al2O3(サファイア)基板上にAu、次いでFeを堆積して薄膜を形成してNOX浄化用触媒を調製した。この薄膜は次いで加熱処理した。
1)イオンスパッタ(HITACH E101 Energy 100eV、Ion Current 15mA)でAl2O3(サファイア)基板上に、Auスパッタ膜を作製した。2分間x5回でスパッタを行う(合計10分間)ことにより厚さ約30nmの均一なAu膜を堆積させた。このAu堆積後の表面のAESによる二次電子像を図4に示す。
2)堆積物を、図5に模式図を示す機構を持つPLD(Pulsed Laser Deposition)装置[分析手段:オージェ電子分光法(AES)、X線光電子分光法(XPS)を備えてある]の真空チャンバーに搬送する。
このPLDと分析手段とはIn−situであるのが理想である。ただし、In−situである必要はなく、以下に示す前処理を分析直前に行えるのであれば、一旦大気中に曝して搬送し得る。
3)Arスパッタを0.5eV、Cham.Pre.で1.8x10−4Torrの条件で30分間、アニールとして450℃、25分間の条件を2回繰り返して、表面前処理を行う。
図6から、50nmのAu上にFe粒子が堆積していた。
5)赤外線レーザーで堆積物を350℃に加熱して合金化する。加熱後の表面を図7に示す。
この加熱は、堆積物を置く試料台はよく加熱された履歴を持ち加熱により反応性の高いガスを放出しないものを用いた。
加熱後のAESによる表面組成は約40:60(Fe:Au、atm比)であった。
6)約1~10Langmuir(5.0x10−6Pa、44s/1Langmuir室温)のNOガス量をチャンバーに導入して、触媒にNOガスを吸着させる。
7)XPS(Φ ESCA1600、Monochlo Al−Ka(1486.7eV)、350W、14.0kV)でN1s、O1s、Fe2p、Au4f等のピークを観察して、XPSによる解離吸着特性の分析を行う。結果を図8−1、図8−2に示す。これら図8−1および図8−2に示すように、エネルギーピーク位置によりNO吸着状態であるか又はN/O解離状態であるかを区別でき、また反応サイトがFe上であるかを判断できる。
図8−1から、Fe上でNOは室温で解離吸着することを示した。
図8−2から、酸化物ピークの出現でFe上にOが吸着していることがわかった。
8)赤外線レーザーで触媒試料を50℃ずつ昇温して加熱し、AES(PHI、Energy 1.5kV、Fil.Cur.1.9A、Emi.Cur.0.9mA)でNピーク、Oピーク変化を観察する。測定結果を図9−1、図9−2に示す。ピークが減少した温度を脱離温度と判断する。
図9−1から、O2脱離温度は約450℃であることを示した。
図9−2から、N2脱離温度は約450℃であることを示した。
さらに、Fe堆積後の堆積物および350℃で熱処理後の堆積物のXRD測定結果を図10に示す。
Al2O3(サファイア)基板上に実施例1と同様にして図5に示すPLDを用いてFeのみを表面Fe濃度が100%になるまで堆積させた。
得られた堆積物試料について、実施例1の工程8)と同様に赤外線レーザーで触媒試料を50℃ずつ昇温して加熱し、AESでNピーク、Oピーク変化を測定した。測定結果を図11−1、図11−2に示す。
図11−1から、O2脱離温度は約800℃以上であることを示している。
図11−2から、N2脱離温度は約650℃であることを示している。
Rh単結晶について、実施例1の6)および7)の工程と同様にして、NOガス量をチャンバーに導入しRhにNOガスを吸着させ、XPSでN1s XPSスペクトル、O1s XPSスペクトルを測定して、XPSによる解離吸着特性の分析を行った。測定結果を図12−1、図12−2に示す。
図12−1から、Rh上でNOは室温では解離せず解離温度は100℃以上であった。
図12−2から、160℃までは吸着NOが観測されるが、温度上昇に伴い解離Oが観察され、800℃を超えるとO2脱離する。
Au単結晶について、実施例1の6)および7)の工程と同様にして、NOガス量をチャンバーに導入しRhにNOガスを吸着させ、XPSでN1s XPSスペクトル、Au4fXPSスペクトルを測定して、XPSによる解離吸着特性の分析を行った。測定結果を図13−1、図13−2に示す。
図13−1および図13−2から、Au上に−50℃以上ではNO、O2は吸着しないことを示している。
Al2O3基板上にAuとFeとを近接しないで距離をおいて存在させて堆積させた。得られたAuとFeとが分離して存在する堆積物の表面の両元素濃度をAESにより測定したところ、表面Fe濃度は40atm.%であった。
この加熱処理後の堆積物についてNO分解、脱離特性を評価した。測定結果を図15に示す。
実施例1と同様にして、Al2O3基板上に数nmFe/50nmAuの積層薄膜を形成した。
得られた堆積物について温度を変えて加熱処理した。
加熱温度と表面の両元素濃度をAESにより測定した。加熱処理温度とAu/Feの表面濃度との関係を図14に示す。
前記の図10から、熱処理することにより、Au(111)ピークが高角側にシフトしFe(110)ピークは小さくなった。これによって、FeがAuに拡散しAuの原子間距離が短くなったことが示唆される。これらの図7、図10、図14並びに図17の相図から、加熱処理によりAuFeは固溶して固溶体が形成されていると考えられる。
図15から、FeとAuとが分離して存在している場合は、NO解離吸着した後加熱処理しても各々の特性しか示さないことがわかる。
また、積層薄膜からなる固体中でFeとAuとが近接して存在している場合、表面がFe100%であってもO2解離吸着の温度が約700℃に低下しており、前記の本発明の効果が認められる。
Claims (4)
- 窒素酸化物浄化用触媒であって、固体中でAu原子とFe原子とが近接した状態で存在している触媒。
- 前記Au原子とFe原子とを、Au原子およびFe原子の一方の原子に接して他方の原子の少なくとも1つが一次粒子であるナノ粒子中又は薄膜中で存在している状態にある近接した状態で含む請求項1に記載の触媒。
- 前記固体がAuとFeとを主成分とする一次粒子又は薄膜であって、固体中のFe又はAuの濃度が両元素の合計量に対して0.2~99.8atm%である請求項1に記載の触媒。
- 前記固体がAuとFeとを主成分とする一次粒子又は薄膜であって、固体表面のFe又はAuの表面濃度が両元素の合計量に対して原子比として1/7~6/7である請求項1に記載の触媒。
