Description
Description
A LAUNDRY DRYER MACHINE WHICH PREVENTS WRINKLES
[0001] The present invention relates to a laundry dryer machine wherein wrinkles are prevented.
[0002] In laundry dryer machines, the cycle air whereby the temperature is
lowered and the moisture retained by being passed from the condenser by means of the fan, is directed to the heater. The cycle air the temperature and hence moisture removing capacity of which is increased by being passed over the heater, is directed to the drum to evaporate the moisture on the laundry and is again directed to the condenser. However, the shirts and similar fragile textiles thus dried get wrinkled at the end of the drying process.
[0003] In the state of the art Great Britain Patent Application no GB2279448, the explanation is given for the prevention of wrinkling by operating the fan and the heater intermittently in the drying step. In the state of the art Japanese Patent Application no JP2004057235, a humidifier device is used for preventing wrinkling of the laundry.
[0004] Another state of the art patent document is the European Patent
Application No EP1939349. In this application, a steam generator is used for preventing the wrinkles of the laundry.
[0005] In the state of the art, the steam generator is disposed on the laundry dryer machines for minimizing the wrinkles on the textiles. The steam generator delivers steam into the drum by being operated at certain phases of the drying process. However, the steam generator added on the laundry dryer machine increases energy consumption and furthermore complicates the control method.
[0006] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a laundry dryer
machine wherein the wrinkles of the laundry are removed.
[0007] In the laundry dryer machine realized in order to attain the aim of the
present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, the cycle air passing over the heater is passed over a desiccant before reaching the drum. The desiccant retaining the moisture in the cycle air passing thereover by means of the heater that is turned off in the
drying phase, releases the retained moisture by evaporating by means of the heater that is turned on again in the wrinkle removing phase and the steam is delivered into the drum. Consequently, the wrinkling of the laundry placed in the drum is prevented.
[0008] The laundry dryer machine operates in accordance with a drying program which provides the desiccant to retain the moisture by turning off the heater at the end of the drying phase and evaporating the moisture retained at the desiccant by turning on the heater again in the wrinkle removing phase.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the wrinkle removing phase is automatically executed without requiring the selection of the user.
[0010] In another embodiment of the present invention, the wrinkle removing phase is activated by a button disposed on the laundry dryer machine.
[001 1] By means of the present invention, the wrinkles in the fragile textiles such as shirts, etc. are reduced at the end of the drying program without disposing an energy consuming device like the steam generator etc. in the laundry dryer machine.
[0012] By means of the present invention, moisture is delivered unto the laundry without using an energy consuming additional device like the steam generator.
[0013] A laundry dryer machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0014] Figure 1 - is the schematic view of a laundry dryer machine.
[0015] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Laundry dryer machine
2. Drum
3. Heater
4. Condenser
5. Channel
6. Fan
7. Desiccant
8. Button
[0016] The laundry dryer machine (1 ) of the present invention comprises a drum
(2) wherein the laundry desired to be dried are placed, a channel (5) with both ends connected to the drum (2) providing the cycle air to be circulated in a closed cycle, a condenser (4) providing to remove the moisture from the cycle air leaving the drum (2) by condensation, at least one heater (3) providing the demoisturized cycle air leaving the condenser (4) to be heated and a control unit which provides the execution of a drying program having a drying phase wherein the heater (3) is operated at frequent intervals and a wrinkle removing phase wherein the heater (3) remains turned off until the drying process is completed.
[0017] The laundry dryer machine (1 ), furthermore, comprises,
• a desiccant (7) disposed between the heater (3) and the drum (2),
• which retains moisture while the heater (3) is turned off, releasing the retained moisture by being regenerated when the heater (3) is turned on and
• the heater (3) disposed inside the channel (5) extending between the desiccant (7) and the condenser (4),
• which provides the desiccant (7) to retain moisture by being turned off at the end of the drying phase and provides the moisture retained in the desiccant (7) to be delivered into the drum (2) by being turned on just before the wrinkle removing phase is completed and by evaporating it (Figure 1).
[0018] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, zeolite material is used as the desiccant (7). The zeolite material is a regenerable chemical sieve which retains moisture when heat is not applied thereon, which radiates heat to its surrounding while retaining moisture and which releases the retained moisture as steam when heat is applied thereon.
[0019] The heater (3) is activated by operating the laundry dryer machine (1 ). The cycle air leaving the drum (2) by passing over the laundry contained inside the drum (2) passes over the condenser (4). The cycle air releases the moisture while passing over the condenser (4), afterwards is heated while passing over the heater (3) and its moisture holding capacity is increased. The cycle air leaving the heater (3) completes a drying cycle by passing from the desiccant (7) and entering into the drum (2) from the rear side of
the drum (2).
[0020] The cycle air increasing in temperature by means of the heater (3) passes over the desiccant (7) before entering into the drum (2). The desiccant (7) is in regenerated state since the heater (3) is turned on. The desiccant (7) remains in regenerated state due to the heater (3) being on until the end of the drying phase. In the drying phase the heater (3) is preferably operated intermittently at frequent intervals. However, the heater (3) is operated at a frequency that will not provide the desiccant (7) to retain moisture. The drying phase wherein the moisture on the laundry is decreased
substantially and hence the evaporation in the drum (2) is decreased, ends by turning off the heater (3). In this situation, the desiccant (7) starts to retain the moisture in the cycle air passing thereover and to radiate heat to its surrounding. Consequently, the total energy consumption at the end of the drying program of the laundry dryer machine (1 ) is decreased by preventing the energy consumption originating from use of the heater (3) in the final phase of the drying process. The desiccant (7), retaining the moisture in the cycle air passing over by the heater (3) being turned off at the end of the drying phase, is regenerated by turning on the heater (3) again at the end of the wrinkle removing phase. The moisture retained by the desiccant (7) evaporates when the heater (3) is turned on and is delivered into the drum (2) from the rear wall of the drum (2).
[0021] In the drying phase, the desiccant (7) is constantly in the regenerated
state. In the wrinkle removing phase wherein the heater (3) is turned off, the desiccant (7) gets heated at the same time while providing the moisture to be retained. Consequently, energy saving is provided. Hot air is provided to pass over the desiccant (7) by turning on the heater (3) again just before the completion of the wrinkle removing phase. By this means, by delivering the moisture previously retained on the desiccant (7) as steam on the shirts or similar fragile textiles, wrinkles are provided to be removed. Consequently, the laundry is wrinkled less and the user is prevented from doing further ironing.
[0022] The laundry dryer machine (1 ) operates according to a wrinkle prevention program which provides the desiccant (7) to retain moisture by turning off
the heater (3) at the end of the drying phase, and which provides the moisture retained in the desiccant (7) to be evaporated by turning on the heater (3) again just before the wrinkle removing phase is completed.
[0023] In an embodiment of the present invention, the wrinkle removing phase is automatically activated.
[0024] In another embodiment of the present invention, the laundry dryer machine
(1 ) comprises a button (8) which activates the wrinkle removing phase. When the button (8) is actuated by the user, the desiccant (7) that retains moisture is provided to regenerate by turning on the heater (3), turned off in the drying phase, in the wrinkle removing phase before the completion of the drying program. The moisture in the regenerated desiccant (7) evaporates and is directed into the drum (2) from the rear wall of the drum
(2) by passing through the channel (5).
[0025] The laundry dryer machine (1 ) comprises at least one fan (6) which
maintains the cycle air to move along the channel (5). The fan (6) operates throughout the wrinkle removing phase.
[0026] By means of the present invention, by being evaporated by regeneration of the desiccant (7) by turning on the heater (3) again and being directed into the drum (2), the moisture retained with the desiccant (7) by turning the heater (3) off in the drying phase is provided to be used with the aim of removing the wrinkles.
[0027] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the
embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These different embodiments should also be considered within the scope of the claims of the present invention.
