Abstract

The invention relates to the use of compounds derived from bis-benzamidines as fluorogenic agents for signalling specific sequences of double-strand DNA and to novel compounds. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of compounds derived from propamidine-pentamidine and containing 4-aminobenzamidine groups as fluorogenic DNA-sequence-recognition agents since they can bind to the DNA minor groove, and to novel compounds.
