Description

This patent, which concerns the construction industry, relates to a process for obtaining mass to simulate, as closely as possible, the appearance of natural granite in use as decorative floor and wall coverings. ,
In the present state of the art of producing decorative floor and wall coverings used in construction, various processes are known for simulating the appearance of noble stones such as granite, marble, etc. These are processes in which a mass is obtained in which different elements are added to simulate feldspar, a rock from a major family of minerals, from the group of tectosilicates, constituents of rocks that form about 60% of the earth's crust and crystallize in the triclinic or Monoclinic, occurring as compact minerals, or dykes, in pegmatites and develop into many types of metamorphic rocks and some types of sedimentary rocks, common in granite, marble and various natural stones considered noble. Among them can be mentioned the ones described below.
One of these processes utilizes ground grains of granite or other natural stones having a particle diameter of approximately 3 to 8 mm, which are mixed with transparent resins and when dried or fixed provide a one-package coating material. colored patterned with natural stone hue This colored patterned coating material is mainly finished with a coat using a spatula, or by spray coating or spatula coating.
In another, two or three colors are used which are separate in each package from the colored pattern coating material as described above which are made so that when dried or fixed they are similar to the color. In this process the intention is to form a colored granite shade pattern through three to four coatings using a multi-package or multi-package coating material, for finishing wall surfaces in a colored pattern by the special procedure which Includes: First spraying a natural stone tint-based color across the surface; repeated splashing of another color or two colors, partially before the first mentioned single color is dry, and repeated spraying (returning) of a base shade color, partially before these one or two colors are dried.
In these processes, however, if the color of the ground grains of natural stone is similar to that of the granite component, a pattern similar to the natural color of granite can be obtained. Application is simple and the finish is uniform and stable. However, since ground natural stone grains themselves are used as a colored pattern material, all shapes of the colored pattern are rounded, independent, and approximately in the form of grains. (Hard aggregates are difficult to coat unless they are in the form of grains that are all rounded in terms of the properties of the spatula coating operation.) This results in irregularity in shape and randomness in the size of a colored pattern. natural granite component, and a pattern in which the colored patterns are blended.
In addition, the spatula coating material, composed of heavy aggregates and resins of this type, requires both excellent spatula ductility and sufficient viscosity so that the aggregates do not fall. Thus, the thickness of one coat is limited to about 8 mm and therefore the size of the aggregates is also limited to about 8 mm. (In case of spatula coating, aggregates larger than the coating thickness cannot be used.) Therefore, it is not possible to wait for the finish near the natural granite pattern, having a colored pattern of components larger than the aforementioned. In cases where the size of the aggregates of approximately 5 mm in terms of spray coating properties when aggregates larger than the size mentioned fall when the coating material is sprayed and the film surface becomes excessively rough. .). Thus, only in the case of granite where the color pattern of the component is very small, can a color pattern finish similar to the granite shade be obtained. However, the small color pattern of the component will not be a frequently used granite pattern. However, unless more than two extremely well-qualified applicators are used simultaneously in the spraying art, and if application is performed on site, under favorable conditions of scaffolding and wall surfaces to be coated, the size of the colored pattern will be considerably free and the finish will bear some resemblance to the natural granite color pattern. However, the component colors are likely to be overly mixed in terms of spray-repeat properties, failing to achieve a clear color pattern characteristic of natural granite.
In addition, at the actual site of execution, the availability of qualified professionals is limited, and the narrowness and instability of scaffolding and the complexity of the shape of the wall surfaces to be coated are involved. In addition, the colors of the required coating materials being separated into separate containers should be prepared at one time and on the same scaffolding, practically at the time of execution, and the use of a spray unit in which the coating material is passed through. The pressure of the hose is very costly and makes small applications unfeasible. In addition, the application steps require 3-4 coats, being extremely complex. Therefore, especially when running a large area, it is very rare to obtain a uniformly finished pattern without irregularities.
In this case, even if the complexity and particularity of the spray operation can be improved, the quality of the finish obtained by the twin nozzle type sprayer is lower and in the case of the use of a triple nozzle type sprayer, where the size and The shape of the color pattern is generally free to achieve a finish very close to the natural granite pattern, and if the colors of the components are excessively mixed, a clear color pattern characteristic of the natural granite fails.
There are also processes for forming a colored, granite-like pattern in which a multi-phase suspension coating of colored gelatinous grains (multi-colored paints) is used, mainly used for interior wall finishing, where A colorful grain splash pattern is easily and evenly formed without irregularities by a spray coat or a brush coat. You can also use waste fibers of various colors, cotton, shredded paper, perlite, vermiculite, wood, extremely thin pieces of plastic, etc., commonly referred to as "fiber wall", which are mixed with a water-soluble cellulose binder powder. The resulting mixture is dissolved with water when in use, forming a colored pattern by means of a trowel coat, used primarily for interior finishing.
Moreover, it has the disadvantage that, not only because the execution step is complex, but also because the indispensable step of the thin-piece dispersion operation is an extremely inadequate and costly process for external execution and execution relative to surface surfaces. walls. There are also industrialized materials that seek to simulate the look of noble stones, which can be cited as "Formica" or "Silestone", but are often heavy, difficult to handle or follow a standard design printed on the surface. . The widely used "silestone" is heavy, follows a specific design pattern and is more expensive than natural stone itself. Other imitations of granite can be found in porcelain or porcelain tiles, which also follow a specific pattern.
The present patent, in this sense, presents an innovative process that allows to obtain a mass to perfectly simulate the natural appearance of noble stones in decorative coating of floors and walls in construction. It is a textured mass that allows the artificial imitation of granite, marble and other noble stones to perfection by adding specially developed flakes to simulate the naturally occurring feldspar in this rock type.
In practice the putty is applied as an internal and external coating and also on the floor and can also be used as decoration for other objects such as, for example, potted plants, wood or any other material that may be used. as decoration. Standing out for its lightness, speed of application, lower costs compared to natural stones and ease of handling, it is also waterproof.
Not following a specific pattern, it is very close to granite in its natural state, because it has flakes, which mimic the stains that occur on these stones (feldspars), being porous and slightly transparent, a fact that happens with feldspar in granite and marble. , among other noble stones, in their form Natural. Its application can be done by any construction professional or even a layman, achieving a high quality standard and similarity to the natural look of the stone. Its cost is immensely lower than that of natural stone and the speed of application is much higher than that achieved with conventional techniques used in known products.
The process for obtaining mass for simulation of noble stone in coating of artificial granite surfaces, and the obtained product, object of this patent can be better understood by referring to the description of its technical peculiarities, which does not restrict its configuration as to its dimensions. , proportions and eventual types of elements inserted and the scope of their practical application.
In the process the mass, in which the flakes are added to simulate the natural feldespar that occurs according to the type of appearance, in the noble stone that is intended to form the final product, is obtained with the mixture of 80% of resin; 0.25% anti bubbles; 0.4% Microbicide; 0.4% fungicide, 15% water; 3.5% ethylene glycol; (This is already the process for making the resin that will be added to the sand) and sand, forming a mixture that can contain countless colors, depending on the color of the flakes applied and the color of the added sand. Its hardness depends on the type of resin used, along with the amount of additives that change the hardness of the added flakes.
In practice, the resin is firstly prepared in the desired form so that it produces a film at low temperatures, and the product can be applied anywhere and with extreme temperature variations and homogenized in a mechanical mixer.
The amount of resin + additives, sand and flakes may vary according to the desired color. Likewise the amount, size and coloration of the sand that will be added to the mixture to obtain the desired effect. The sand may have a particle size ranging from 1 to 8 mm, being pre-dyed to the desired color, its amount may vary from 54% to 58%. Flakes may vary according to the effect and type and appearance of the noble stone to be simulated, as well as the size and color of the same.
The paste can be used in decoration of indoor environments, facades, indoor and outdoor areas and as adornment of environments in general, approximating its appearance, as much as possible of granite in its natural form. Its advantages are: lightness, quickness of application, reduced cost compared to natural stone, ease of handling and application, as well as being waterproof.
