Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel metering device for, in particular, a self-igniting air-compressing internal combustion engine having a first fuel pump for delivering a first fuel such as a diesel fuel and a second fuel pump for supplying a second fuel, in particular a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel.
- a first fuel pump for delivering a first fuel such as a diesel fuel
- a second fuel pump for supplying a second fuel, in particular a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel.
- LPG liquefied petroleum gas
- Fuel metering devices for the supply of fuel mixtures are known. For example, it is known from DE 10 2004 011 414 A1, by injection of a fuel mixture from fuels of different properties of diesel engine combustion with the combustion of the same volume Otto Motors to gain advantages in terms of performance and emissions of fuels.
- the fuel metering device of the type mentioned above is characterized in that the pressure mixing tank a Dampfdruck- buffer space, which is connectable to a vapor return line, which opens into the vapor pressure space of the fuel tank of the second fuel.
- the level inside the pressure mixing tank is to be secured by level sensors, but also by appropriate fuel metering pumps.
- a self-priming, but outside the tank, calibrated and load-controlled and controlled by a level sensor fuel pump are preferably provided for the second fuel, which promotes the second fuel via a universal mixing nozzle in the mixing vessel.
- This mixing vessel is under a controlled pressure.
- the first fuel such as a diesel fuel can be promoted via a universal mixing nozzle in the pressure mixing vessel.
- the universal nozzle takes over by the flow velocity of the LPG - A -
- the mixing is maintained constantly with the engine running by the introduced return quantities.
- the fuel mixture is supplied via a high-pressure pump to the conventional injection system of the internal combustion engine.
- Such external high-pressure pumps are not susceptible to interference and easy to replace. This does not require a suction of the tank contents.
- Each fuel can be controlled, calibrated, and weighed to achieve the same composition within the blender, resulting in consistent combustion and uniform emissions even with temperature-dependent fuel density.
- the provided level sensors is always a constant filling of the pressure mixing tank to achieve. Via provided pressure sensors it is ensured that in the pressure mixing tank matching pressure conditions are present. Should there be a malfunction within the supply line from the fuel tank of the second fuel, or should it come to, for example, a fuel oil tank of the second fuel, it should be ensured by providing valves that the entire distance for the second fuel is shut off. In this case, the fuel pump for the first fuel (diesel pump) takes over the sole supply of the pressure mixing tank, so that even in this case a malfunction of the internal combustion engine can not occur.
- the pressure mixing tank receives a temperature sensor, which can shut off the LPG fuel supply at excessive temperature.
- the fuel pump for the diesel fuel takes the sole supply of the pressure mixing tank, so that the system can cool down without malfunction. If a sufficiently low temperature level is reached, the LPG fuel supply can reconnect.
- the Brennstoffzumess raised according to the present invention is particularly suitable to be additionally grown in conventional internal combustion engines.
- commercial vehicles and e.g. Retrofit buses with such a metering device in order to change to a two-fuel mixing operation can.
- the associated construction costs are kept within narrow limits.
- a universal mixing nozzle is preferably provided on the underside of the universal pressure container, at which coming from below all filling and return lines opening into the pressure mixing container are connected. This ensures a continuous mixing of the two specifically unequal heavy fuels.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 each show a system diagram, with FIG. 2 showing more closely the pressure mixing container.
- the fuel metering device which comprises an LPG tank 2, which is acted upon by a relatively low overpressure and comprises a vapor pressure chamber 2.1, and a diesel tank 3, is generally illustrated at 1.
- the fuel passes first (bypassing a high pressure pump 8) via the strand 9 to a pressure mixing vessel 11.
- the fuels of LPG and diesel are mixed, wherein within the pressure vessel 11, a vapor pressure buffer room 12 is formed.
- a pressure sensor is provided within the vapor pressure buffer chamber 12, which releases the line 13 when an adjustable overpressure is exceeded, which in turn opens to the vapor pressure chamber 2.1 of the LPG tank 2 out.
- the fuel mixture passes via the line 14 and the already mentioned high-pressure pump 8 (for example with an operating pressure of 1,600 bar) to the injection system of an internal combustion engine, generally designated 15. a truck.
- Unconsumed (mixed) fuel can in turn be supplied via the line 16 and the bypass valve 10 to the vapor pressure buffer chamber 12 of the pressure mixing tank 11.
- a universal mixing nozzle 17 is provided at the coming from below all incoming in the pressure mixing tank 11 filling and return lines are connected. As a result, a turbulence in the pressure mixing tank 11 is to be carried out while the internal combustion engine is running. After downtime, the engine can be started with diesel fuel.
