Description

Description
CONTACT INFORMATION DISPLAY METHOD OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to an address book display method of a mobile communication terminal; and, more particularly, to a method for displaying the address book of the mobile communication terminal in a contact information cloud shape. Background Art
[2] With a steady development of technology of a mobile communication terminal which becomes a necessity to our contemporaries, the mobile communication terminal has not only been scaled down and reduced in weight, but it is also becoming a multifunction communication terminal capable of providing various functions such as an MP3 player, a camera, a navigation system, and so forth as well as a typical function of providing telephone calls between users.
[3] In addition to the above-mentioned functions, the mobile communication terminal provides other various functions and services such as a voice mail service for allowing a telephone caller to store a message in a voice mail box or a fax mail box when a receiver cannot answer the phone; a voice activated dialing service for allowing a user to make a phone call without having to dial telephone numbers by connecting a voice recognition device to the mobile communication terminal and storing/registering the voice of the user; a short message service (SMS) for transceiving messages including numbers and characters not greater than 80 bytes, i.e., messages including about 40 to 50 Korean characters or about 80 English alphabets; and a multimedia message service (MMS) allowing a text longer than the SMS messages and capable of attaching voice or image to the text.
[4] Meanwhile, the mobile communication terminal has an address book function capable of storing telephone numbers, e-mails addresses, resident addresses, or the like of acquaintances. Therefore, a user of the mobile communication terminal searches for a telephone number of a certain person from the address book and usefully makes a telephone call or transmits messages to the searched person.
[5] Most of conventional mobile communication terminals display an address book after sorting names and groups by using characters of the same size and the same font. That is, since contact information in the address book is not distinguished from each other by means of different sizes and fonts of characters, a user has some difficulty in finding out and selecting desired contact information.
[6] Further, the conventional mobile terminal has provided information upon the most recently or frequently used contact information in order to improve convenience of a user who searches for the contact information. However, the conventional mobile terminal did not calculate a relationship value, so that contact information is not classified based on the relationship value between the user and the contact information. Accordingly, there has been a limit in providing necessary contact information to the user efficiently.
[7] Moreover, with the conventional mobile communication terminal, the number of button touches is excessively great when a user attempts to select a plurality of contact information from the address book so as to send text messages, e-mails, or the like.
[8] Meanwhile, a web site specialized in movies or the like conventionally provides a web page displaying a "tag cloud" to facilitate a search for a multimedia file.
[9] Fig. 1 illustrates an example of a web page on which tag clouds are displayed. The term "tag clouds" refers to popular or important tags which are well-placed to be readily noticed by users or displayed in the form of "clouds" by using bold-faced characters, different colors or different fonts.
[10] However, in the conventional mobile communication terminal, it has not yet been attempted to use the form of "tag clouds" to visualize the address book. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[11] In view of the foregoing, an embodiment of the present invention provides an address book in a "cloud" form to allow a user of a mobile communication terminal to distinguish contact information in the address book easily and conveniently.
[12] Further, the embodiment of the present invention provides the address book based on a relationship value between contact information and a user in order to provide necessary contact information to the user more appropriately.
[13] Moreover, the embodiment of the present invention provides a method for selecting contact information in the address book by a drag-and-drop method to reduce unnecessary key inputs or touches. Technical Solution
[14] In accordance with a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a mobile communication terminal provided with a touch screen, including: a relationship value calculation unit for calculating a relationship value between each contact information stored in an address book of the mobile communication terminal and a user of the mobile communication terminal based on communication logs; a contact information cloud generation unit for determining a display manner for each contact information and generating a contact information cloud based on the calculated relationship value; a display unit for displaying the contact information cloud on the touch screen; and an input sensing unit for sensing an input manipulation performed on the touch screen.
[15] Here, it is possible that the display manner includes at least one of an arrangement position, a character size, a character font, and a character color of a name of each contact information and the each contact information is an individual or a group.
[16] Further, it is possible that the display manner includes at least one of an arrangement position, a size, a font and a color of a representative icon and a photograph of each contact information.
[17] Further, it is possible that a user carries out a phone call or transmits a text message to a user of the contact information displayed on the contact information cloud by clicking or dragging and dropping the contact information.
[18] Further, it is possible that the relationship value calculation unit includes: a co mmunication index calculation unit for calculating a communication index between the contact information and the terminal user, a communication freshness value calculation unit for calculating a communication index freshness value based on the communication index and a recent communication time interval between the contact information and the terminal user and a communication balance value calculation unit for calculating a communication balance value between the contact information and the terminal user.
[19] In accordance with a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for displaying an address book of a mobile communication terminal provided with a touch screen, the method including: (a) calculating a relationship value between each contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal and a user of the mobile communication terminal based on communication logs; (b) determining a display manner of each contact information based on the relationship value; (c) generating a contact information cloud according to the display manner of each contact information; and (d) displaying the contact information cloud on the touch screen.
Advantageous Effects
[20] In accordance with the above-described one aspect of the present invention, since an address book in the form of clouds is provided, a user can easily distinguish contact information displayed with different character sizes, fonts and colors or with different sizes of representative icons or photographs. Thus, an exacter and rapider search for the contact information is enabled.
[21] Further, in accordance with another aspect of the present invention, since contact information having a high relationship value with the user is visually displayed, the user can be provided with desired contact information more appropriately, so that the search for the contact information can be carried out more efficiently. [22] Moreover, in accordance with still another aspect of the present invention, since the user can select contact information by a drag-and-drop method, it is possible to select contact information with a smaller number of key inputs or touches, so that the selection of contact information can be carried out a in a simpler manner. [33] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings so that the present invention may be readily implemented by those skilled in the art. However, it is to be noted that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments but can be realized in various other ways. In the drawings, parts irrelevant to the description are omitted for the simplicity of explanation, and like reference numerals denote like parts through the whole document.
[34] Through the whole document, the term "connected to" or "coupled to" that is used to designate a connection or coupling of one element to another element includes both a case that an element is "directly connected or coupled to" another element and a case that an element is "electronically connected or coupled to" another element via still another element. Further, the term "comprises or includes" and/or "comprising or including" used in the document means that one or more other components, steps, operation and/or existence or addition of elements are not excluded in addition to the described components, steps, operation and/or elements.
[35] In the present specification, the term "cloud" is used to describe a form for visually displaying an address book on a screen of a mobile communication terminal, and implies any type of manners for well-placing contact information having a high relationship value with a user or having a high rank in frequency of uses, emphasizing it in bold strokes or displaying it by using different colors and fonts to allow the user to recognize it at one sight.
[36] Since the term "tag cloud" is widely used to refer to a display manner for visualizing popular or important tags to enable a one-sight search for them, the term "address book display method in the form of clouds" would be easily understood by those skilled in the art.
[37] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to attached drawings.
[38] Fig. 2 is a block diagram showing a schematic configuration of a mobile communication terminal in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
[39] As shown in Fig. 2, the mobile communication terminal includes an input sensing unit 110, a display unit 120, a communication unit 130, a communication log DB 140, a relationship value calculation unit 150, a contact information cloud generation unit 160 and a control unit 170.
[40] The input sensing unit 110 senses a user's input manipulation performed on a touch screen of the mobile communication terminal. For example, the input sensing unit 110 senses the user's input manipulation performed by a touching motion or a drag- and-drop motion, and sends the sensing result to the control unit 170.
[41] The display unit 120 displays a soft keyboard to be arranged on the touch screen, menu buttons for operating the mobile communication terminal and various information such as characters selected by the user, and so forth. The display unit 120 especially displays a contact information cloud, which is an address book in the form of a tag cloud, on the touch screen.
[42] The communication unit 130 enables the user to make telephone calls or transmit and receive text messages or the like through the mobile communication terminal.
[43] The communication log DB 140 stores therein various communication logs regarding transmission calls, reception calls, transmitted text messages, received text messages, a response time to a telephone call, a response time to a text message, the number of absent calls, sizes of the transmitted and received text messages, and the like.
[44] The relationship value calculation unit 150 calculates a relationship value between certain contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal and the terminal user based on the communication logs stored in the communication log DB 140. A detailed method for calculating the relationship value will be explained later.
[45] The contact information cloud generation unit 160 generates contact information clouds by determining a display manner for each contact information according to the relationship value between the contact information stored in the mobile communication terminal and the terminal user. The display manner for each contact information includes, for example, an arrangement position, a character size, a character font, a character color of a name of the contact information.
[46] Further, besides the manner of displaying each contact information by using characters, each contact information can be displayed by using a representative icon, a photograph, or an avatar, or the like. At this time, the display manner of contact information may include, for example, an arrangement position, a size, a font and a color of the representative icon, photograph, or avatar.
[47] Moreover, in case that each contact information is written in characters, names of groups registered in the address book can be displayed though it may be also possible to display individuals' names. Further, in case that each contact information is displayed by representative icons, photographs or avatars, representative icons, photographs or avatars of groups can be displayed though it may be also possible to display representative icons, photographs or avatars of individuals.
[48] The control unit 170 controls the whole operation of the mobile communication terminal. Specifically, the control unit 170 controls the relationship value calculation unit 150, the contact information cloud generation unit 160, the display unit 120, the input sensing unit 110 and the communication unit 130 so as to calculate the relationship value between certain contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal and the terminal user; to generate and display the contact information cloud based on the calculated relationship value; and to carry out transmission of a telephone call or a message by sensing a user's input manipulation performed on the contact information cloud.
[49] Hereinafter, a method for displaying a cloud address book in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to Fig. 3. Fig. 3 presents a flowchart to describe the cloud address book display method in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention.
[50] As shown in Fig. 3, first, the relationship value calculation unit 150 calculates a relationship value between each contact information stored in the mobile communication terminal and a user (step S200). Factors for calculating the relationship value may include, for example, the number of transmission of messages, the number and time of telephone calls, and so forth. A detailed method by which the relationship value calculation unit 150 calculates the relationship value will be described later.
[51] Thereafter, the contact information cloud generation unit 160 classifies the respective contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal based on the calculated relationship value (step S202).
[52] In case that the whole number of the contact information stored in the address book is greater than a data amount that can be displayed on a single screen, the contact information to be displayed on the contact information clouds is selected according to various ranks based on the relationship value.
[53] Further, a display manner for an arrangement position and a style, a size and a color of characters of each contact information is determined based on the calculated relationship value in step S200. Further, in case that each contact information is displayed by representative icons, photographs, or avatars, not by characters, a display manner for an arrangement position and a size, a font and a color of the representative icons or photographs, or avatars is determined.
[54] Thereafter, the contact information cloud generation unit 160 generates contact information clouds by using the classified contact information (step S204). Names, icons, photographs or avatars of the respective contact information stored in the mobile communication terminal are arranged at different positions with different fonts, sizes and colors according to the relationship value between the contact information and the user.
[55] Thereafter, the display unit 120 displays the contact information clouds generated in step S204. The contact information displayed on the contact information clouds can be individuals or groups. Further, as for the contact information displayed on the contact information clouds, names, icons, photographs or avatars can be displayed at different positions with different fonts, sizes, and colors according to, for example, the relationship value between the contact information and the individuals or groups.
[56] Hereinafter, the method for calculating the relationship value in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to Fig. 4. Fig. 4 is a block diagram showing a detailed configuration of the relationship value calculation unit in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention.
[57] The relationship value calculation unit 150 includes a communication index calculation unit 152, a communication balance value calculation unit 154 and a communication freshness value calculation unit 156.
[58] The communication index calculation unit 152 calculates a communication index between each contact information stored in an address book of the mobile communication terminal and a terminal user based on communication logs stored in the communication log DB 140. The communication index represents a communication relationship between each contact information and the terminal user, and it is expressed in terms of an absolute communication value.
[59] The communication index in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention can be calculated based on communication index calculation factors including at least one of the number of transmission of telephone calls, the number of reception of telephone calls, the number of transmission of text messages, the number of reception of text messages, a response time to a telephone call, a response time to a text message, the number of absent calls, the number of non-responses to text messages, a size of transmitted text messages, and a size of received text messages.
[60] The response time to a telephone call can imply time taken for the terminal user to respond to a telephone call received from each contact information stored in the address book, or time taken for a user of each contact information to respond to a telephone call transmitted by the terminal user. Further, the response time to a text message may imply time taken for the terminal user to transmit a text message or transmit a telephone call as an answer for a text message received from each contact information stored in the address book. Though a total response time of each contact information can be used as the response time, it is also possible to utilize an average response time which is a standardized value.
[61] At this time, among the communication index calculation factors, the number of transmission of telephone calls, the number of reception of telephone calls, the number of transmission of text messages, the number of reception of text messages, the size of transmitted text messages, and the size of received text messages are (+) factors for the calculation of the communication index, whereas the number of absent calls, the number of non-responses to text messages, the response time to telephone calls, and the response time to text messages are (-) factors for the calculation of the communication index.
[62] The communication index can be calculated by, for example, summing up values of the (+) factors and then subtracting values of the (-) factors from the sum of the (+) factors.
[63] At this time, different weight can be applied depending on the importance of the respective calculation factors, and it is also possible to calculate the communication index that satisfies a date range set by the user. Further, when calculating the communication index, it is also possible to exclude a communication index calculation factor which is deemed to be unimportant by the terminal user's input.
[64] The communication balance value calculation unit 154 calculates a communication balance value between a user of certain contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal and the terminal user based on communication logs stored in the communication log DB 140. The communication balance value is a calculated value which represents a rate of communication balance based on information of transmission and reception between the user of certain contact information and the terminal user. Through the communication balance value, it is possible to know whether the terminal user more attempts to communicate with the user of certain contact information or the user of certain contact information more attempts to communicate with the terminal user. [65] The communication balance value in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention can be calculated based on communication balance value calculation factors including at least one of the number of transmission of telephone calls, the number of reception of telephone calls, the number of transmission of text messages, the number of reception of text messages, a size of received text messages, a size of transmitted text messages, a response time to telephone calls, a response time to text messages, the number of responses to telephone calls, and the number of responses to text messages.
[66] For example, the number of transmission of telephone calls, the number of transmission of text messages, the size of transmitted text messages, the response time to telephone calls of each contact information, the response time to text messages of each contact information, the number of terminal user's responses to telephone calls, and the number of terminal user's responses to text messages are (+) factors for the calculation of the communication balance value, whereas the number of reception of telephone calls, the number of reception of text messages, the size of received text messages, the terminal user's response time to telephone calls from each contact information, the terminal user's response time to text messages from each contact information, the number of terminal user's responses to the telephone calls from each contact information, and the number of terminal user's responses to the text messages from each contact information are (-) factors for the calculation of the communication balance value.
[67] The communication balance value can be calculated by, for example, summing up values of the (+) factors and then subtracting values of the (-) factors from the sum of the (+) factors.
[68] At this time, different weight can be applied depending on the importance of the respective calculation factors, and it is also possible to calculate the communication balance value that satisfies a date range set by the user. Further, when calculating the communication balance value, it is also possible to exclude a communication balance value calculation factor which is deemed to be unimportant by the terminal user's input.
[69] In case that the calculated communication balance value is equal to or greater than 0, it may be implied that the terminal user more attempts to communicate with the user of the certain contact information. On the other hand, in case that the calculated communication balance value is less than 0, it may be implied that the user of the certain contact information more attempts to communicate with the terminal user.
[70] The respective contact information displayed on the contact information clouds can be distinguished from each other according to the communication balance value by using different colors or icons.
[71] The communication freshness value calculation unit 156 calculates a communication index freshness value between certain contact information stored in the address book of the mobile communication terminal and the terminal user based on communication logs stored in the communication log DB 140. The communication index freshness value is a calculated index of the freshness value for the communication index of the contact information which has a communication index equal to or greater than 0, and it is expressed in terms of %. By using the communication index freshness value, the order of priority of the plural contact information in the address book can be changed according to the freshness value.
[72] The communication freshness value and the communication index freshness value of each contact information can be calculated as follows, for example.
[73] Recent communication time interval = current date — recent communication date
[74] Communication freshness value (%) = 100 — (recent communication time interval)
[75] Communication index freshness value = (communication index/100) * communication freshness value
[76] In the above example, though a day unit is used to calculate the recent communication time interval, it may be also possible to use various time units such as an hour and a minute as well as a week, a month, and a year.
[77] The relationship value calculation unit 150 calculates a relationship value between each contact information and the terminal user based on at least one of the communication index, the communication index freshness value and the communication balance value obtained as described above.
[78] Below, with reference to Fig. 5, there will be explained a method for making a telephone call, transmitting a message, or editing contact information by selecting contact information from a cloud address book, and a cloud address book in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention.
[79] Fig. 5 illustrates an example of the cloud address book in accordance with the embodiment of the present invention.
[80] As shown in Fig. 5, the cloud address book can be displayed on, for example, a phone number search screen. The phone number search screen includes, for example, an individual field 400, a group field 402, a search field 404, a consonant field 406, a main screen 408, a number edit button 410, a call button 412 and a message button 414.
[81] The individual field 400 displays contact information in the form of clouds by classifying it as individuals, thus allowing a user to select a desired individual at one sight.
[82] The group field 402 displays contact information in the form of clouds by classifying it as groups, thus allowing the user to select a desired group at one sight.
[83] The search field 404 allows the user to input contact information that the user wants to search for, thus enabling the user to select desired contact information.
[84] The consonant field 406 arranges contact information by classifying it in the order of consonants according to initial sounds of the contact information, thus allowing the user to select desired contact information.
[85] The individual or group contact information clouds are displayed on the main screen
408. In case that the user selects the individual field 400, the contact information clouds display individuals at different positions with different sizes, fonts and colors of characters, or with different sizes of representative icons or photographs based on the relationship value between each individual and the terminal user.
[86] When the user selects the group field 402, the contact information clouds display groups at different positions with different sizes, fonts and colors of characters, or with different sizes of representative icons or photographs based on the relationship value between each group and the terminal user.
[87] The number edit button 410 is a button for allowing the user to edit names, groups, phone numbers and the like of contact information.
[88] The call button 412 is a button enabling to make a phone call to contact information selected by the user.
[89] The message button 414 is a button enabling transmission of a message to the contact information selected by the user.
[90] In case that the user wants to make a phone call, for example, the user selects one of the contact information displayed on the contact information cloud and then carries out a phone call with the selected one by clicking the call button 412.
[91] Further, for example, the user selects one of the contact information displayed on the contact information cloud and carries out a phone call with the selected one by dragging and dropping the selected contact information to the call button 412.
[92] When the user wants to transmit a message, the user selects one of the contact information displayed on the contact information cloud and transmits a message to the selected one by clicking the message button 414. In case that the user clicks the message button 414 after selecting a plurality of contact information, the message transmission can be carried out to the plurality of contact information at the same time.
[93] Moreover, for example, the user selects one of the contact information displayed on the contact information cloud and transmits a message to the selected one by dragging and dropping the selected contact information to the message button 414. In case that the user moves a plurality of contact information to the message button 414 by the drag-and-drop method, the message transmission can be carried out to the plurality of contact information at the same time.
[94] Furthermore, for example, in case that group names are displayed on the contact information clouds, the message transmission can be carried out to all the contact in- formation belong to a certain group by clicking or dragging and dropping the group name.
[95] When the user wants to edit the contact information, the user can edit it by, for example, pressing the number edit button 410 after selecting desired contact information on the main screen 408. Further, the user can also carry out the editing of the phone numbers by, for example, selecting the contact information on the main screen 408 and then moving the selected contact information to the number edit button 410 by a drag-and-drop method.
[96] The embodiment of the present invention can be implemented by storage medium including computer executable commands such as a program module executed on a computer.
