Abstract

A method and system of reducing the time that a load remains un-powered when a power source fails is disclosed. The method includes receiving a sinusoidal input signal from a first power source. Once the signal has been received, a sinusoidal output signal is generated. The sinusoidal output signal defines a lower limit of a deviation range over which the sinusoidal input signal can deviate before a source-transfer from the first power source to a second power source is initiated. Input signal instantaneous value is compared with output signal instantaneous value. When the input signal instantaneous value has fallen below the lower limit of the deviation range is detected, a digital signal is sent to a switch controller in response to the detection, the digital signal causing the load to be coupled to the second power source.
