Abstract

A vortex producing device for producing a vector vortex having an orbital angular momentum is characterized in that the device comprises first and second axially symmetric polarizers (20, 22), first and second 1/4 wavelength plate (32, 36), and a 1/2 wavelength plate (34), a predetermined light is made to fall on the first axially symmetric polarizer (20), the light passing through the first axially symmetric polarizer (20) is made to pass through the first 1/4 wavelength plate (32), the 1/2 wavelength plate (34), and the second 1/4 wavelength plate (36) and to fall on the second axially symmetric polarizer (22), and a vector vortex is outputted from the second axially symmetric polarizer.
