Abstract

　波長変換装置は、基本波を出射するレーザ光源と、前記基本波を第二高調波に変換する波長変換素子と、変換されずに前記波長変換素子を透過した前記基本波を反射すると共に、波長変換された前記第二高調波を透過する波長選択ミラーを含む光学系と、を備え、前記光学系は、変換されずに前記波長変換素子を透過した前記基本波を、前記波長選択ミラーにより、前記波長変換素子に１回以上、集光させながら再入射し波長変換するものであって、ある入射段の変換効率を、（その段で得られた前記第二高調波）／（その段に入射した前記基本波の自乗）で定義するとき、前記光学系は二段目以降の少なくとも一つの段の変換効率が一段目の変換効率よりも高くなるように設定されている。
