Abstract
This invention provides a phase difference film, which is durable against a change in environment and is small in unevenness of alignment of a liquid crystal layer, a polarizing plate using the phase difference film, and a liquid crystal display device. The phase difference film comprises at least one intermediate layer between a biaxial transparent film and an optical anisotropic layer. The phase difference film is characterized in that the intermediate layer contains at least one compound selected from compounds having a rod-like polarizability anisotropy, represented by numerical formula (1), of not less than 200 x 10-25 cm3 and not more than 2000 x 10-25 cm3 and a molecular end-to-end distance of not less than 1.5 nm and not more than 10 nm, or compounds having a planar polarizability anisotropy, represented by numerical formula (2), of not less than 150 x 10-25 cm3 and not more than 1500 x 10-25 cm3 and a molecular end-to-end distance of not less than 1.5 nm and not more than 10 nm.
