Background Art
[2] In general, roof tiles are classified into those of Korean and Chinese types, which consist of both male and female roof tiles, and those of Japanese type, which consist of female roof tiles only.
[3] Tiled roofs consisting of male and female roof tiles have stepped portions formed on troughs only, while tiled roofs consisting of female roof tiles only have stepped portions formed on both crests and troughs.
[4] Currently used metal roofs have the shape of Japanese-type roof tiles, which consist of female roof tiles only. FIG. 1 shows conventional metal panel roof tiles having the shape of female roof tiles.
[5] A conventional method for forming conventional metal panel roof tiles includes the steps of bending a metal panel by using a roll forming machine so that a number of crests 11 and troughs 12 are formed in the transverse direction of the panel, bending the metal panel by a press forming machine so that stepped portions of the same depth extend throughout the entire crests and troughs in the longitudinal direction of the metal panel at a predetermined interval; and cutting the metal panel by a necessary length.
[6] However, conventional metal panel roof tiles having the shape of female tiles, which are produced by the above-mentioned method, do not have the same aesthetic appearance of traditional Korean roof tiles. Furthermore, conventional metal panel roof tiles are formed by processing a thin metal panel, which has low strength, and are easily deformed and broken. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and in order to form metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female roof tiles by using a thin metal panel, the following problems are to be solved.
[8] Firstly, strength of the thin metal panel, which is used to form the metal panel roof tiles, must be increased.
[9] Secondly, stepped portions need to be formed only on the troughs of the metal panel roof tiles, which have crests and troughs formed thereon, to give the aesthetic appearance of traditional Korean roof tiles.
[10] Thirdly, deformation and tearing of the metal panel must be prevented when stepped portions are formed only on the troughs of the metal panel, which has crests and troughs formed thereon. Technical Solution
[11] In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, there is provided method for forming metal panel roof tiles having a shape of both male and female roof tiles, the method including the steps of passing a metal panel between shaping rolls of a roll forming machine to form a number of crests and troughs in a longitudinal direction of the metal panel (SlO); forming a number of small troughs in a transverse direction of the metal panel (S20); forming protruding patterns only on the crests of the metal panel by press pressing operation so that the small troughs of a corrugated shape created in the step (S20) of forming small troughs are spread to form the protruding patterns (S30); forming protruding patterns and stepped portions only on the troughs of the metal panel by press pressing operation so that the small troughs of a corrugated shape created in the step (S20) of forming small troughs are spread to form the protruding patterns and stepped portions (S40); and cutting the metal panel into a necessary length by a cutting device (S50), wherein the step (S30) of forming protruding patterns only on the crests and the step (S40) of forming protruding patterns and stepped portions only on the troughs are conducted by a single press device, a first pressing frame (151) having a number of through-holes (151-a) on the inside descends to form protruding patterns on the crests of the metal panel and to fixedly support the metal panel, and second pressing frames (152) descend via the through-holes (151-a) of the first pressing frame (151) to form protruding patterns and stepped portions on the troughs of the metal panel.
[12] According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus for forming metal panel roof tiles having a shape of both male and female roof tiles, the apparatus including a rolling forming machine (130) for passing a metal panel between shaping rolls to form a number of crests and troughs in a longitudinal direction of the metal panel; a first press (140) for forming small troughs of a corrugated shape in a transverse direction of the metal panel by means of pressing operation after the metal panel has passed through the roll forming machine (130); a second press (150) for forming various shapes of protruding patterns on the metal panel after the metal panel has passed through the first press (140); and a cutting device (160) for cutting the metal panel into a predetermined length after the metal panel has passed through the second press (150), wherein the second press (150) includes a first pressing frame (151) for forming protruding patterns on the crests of the metal panel and second pressing frames (152) for forming protruding patterns and stepped portions on the troughs of the metal panel, the first pressing frame (151) has a number of through-holes (151-a) formed on the inside, and the second pressing frames (152) descend via the through-holes (151-a) to compress the metal panel.
Advantageous Effects
[13] The method and apparatus for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female roof tiles according to the present invention have the following advantages.
[14] Firstly, the protruding patterns formed on the crests of the metal panel roof tiles and the stepped portions formed on their troughs reinforce rigidity and substantially increase the strength of the metal panel roof tiles.
[15] Secondly, as a result of the primary shaping step of forming small troughs on the entire metal panel roof tiles in a corrugated shape, a deformable effective surface is secured.
[16] Thirdly, the primary shaping step prevents deformation and fracture of the metal panel in the following press shaping step for forming stepped portions on the troughs of the metal panel. Furthermore, the height of the stepped portion can be increased.
[17] Fourthly, the entire process of forming metal panel roof tiles can be automated to improve productivity. Brief Description of the Drawings
[18] The foregoing and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
[19] FIG. 1 is a perspective view briefly showing conventional metal roof tiles;
[20] FIG. 2 is a conceptual diagram showing a method for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles according to an embodiment of the present invention;
[21] FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing steps of forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles; and
[22] FIGs. 4-6 briefly show an exemplary step of forming protruding patterns on the crests and troughs among steps of the method for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Mode for the Invention
[23] Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[24] FIG. 2 is a conceptual diagram showing a method for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing steps of forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles.
[25] As shown in FIG. 2 or 3, the method for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of roll-forming a metal panel (SlO), primarily shaping the metal panel (S20), forming protruding patterns on crests (S30), forming protruding patterns on troughs (S40), and cutting the metal panel (S50). The entire steps are conducted continuously to improve productivity.
[26] Respective steps of the method for manufacturing metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles will be described in detail.
[27] 1. Step of roll-forming a metal panel
[28] In the step of roll-forming a metal panel (S 10), a number of crests and troughs are formed in the longitudinal direction of a metal panel 120.
[29] The metal panel 120, which is used to form metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles, is wound in a coil shape. The metal panel 120 is unwound by a roll forming machine 130 positioned at the front, and is supplied inside the roll forming machine 130.
[30] After being supplied to the roll forming machine 130, the metal panel 120 passes between shaping rolls of the roll forming machine 130 so that a number of crests and troughs are formed in the longitudinal direction of the metal panel 120.
[31] 2. Step of primarily shaping the metal panel
[32] In the step of primarily shaping the metal panel 120 (S20), the metal panel 120 is primarily shaped to prevent it from being deformed and broken in the following press shaping step and to increase the height of stepped portions formed on troughs.
[33] A number of small troughs are formed in the transverse direction of the metal panel
120 in the primary shaping step (S20). More particularly, small troughs of a corrugated shape are formed in the transverse direction of the metal panel 120 to secure a de- formable effective surface, although the corrugated small troughs may reduce the longitudinal size of the metal panel.
[34] According to an embodiment of the present invention, the primary shaping step (S20) for forming small troughs on the metal panel 120 may be conducted by pressing operation using a press forming machine, such as the first press 140 shown in FIG. 2, or by bending operation using a roll forming machine.
[35] 3. Step of forming protruding patterns on crests
[36] In the step of forming protruding patterns on the crests (S30), protruding patterns are formed only on crests of the metal panel, which has crests and troughs alternating with each other. Particularly, after the metal panel is transferred to the second press 150, the first pressing frame 151 of the second press 150 descends to form protruding patterns only on the crests of the metal panel. The small troughs, which have been formed in the primary shaping step (S20), are spread so that protruding patterns are formed on the crests.
[37] Preferably, the protruding patterns formed on the crests are arc-shaped protruding patterns protruding from the top or bottom surface.
[38] 4. Step of forming protruding patterns on troughs
[39] In the step of forming protruding patterns on the troughs (S40), protruding patterns and stepped portions are formed only on the troughs of the metal panel 120, which has crests and troughs alternating with each other. Particularly, after the metal panel has been transferred to the second press 150 so that protruding patterns are formed only on the crests by the first pressing frame 151, the second pressing frames 152 descend to form protruding patterns and stepped portions on the troughs of the metal panel.
[40] The small troughs formed in the primary shaping step (S20) are spread so that stepped portions are formed on the troughs. At the same time, various patterns (e.g. longitudinal stripes) may be formed between respective stepped portions.
[41] During the above-mentioned steps of forming protruding patterns on the crests and troughs, the first pressing frame 151 of the second press 150, which is used to form protruding patterns on the crests, has a number of through-holes 151-a formed therein. The second pressing frames 152 descend via the through-holes 151-a to form various protruding patterns on the crests and troughs of the metal panel.
[42] FIGs. 4-6 briefly show an exemplary step of forming protruding patterns on the crests and troughs among steps of the method for forming metal panel roof tiles having the shape of both male and female tiles according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[43] As shown in FIG. 4, the metal panel 120, which has crests and troughs formed thereon, enters the second press 150. Then, as shown in FIG. 5, the first pressing frame 151 of the second press 150 descends to form protruding patterns on the crests of the metal panel 120 and to fixedly support the metal panel 120. As shown in FIG. 6, the second pressing frames 152 of the second press 150 descend via the through-holes 151-a formed in the first pressing frame 151 to form protruding patterns and stepped portions on the troughs of the metal panel 120.
[44] After forming protruding patterns on the crests and troughs of the metal panel, the first and second pressing frames 151 and 152 ascend and stand by.
[45] 5. Cutting step
[46] After the metal panel 120 has been bent and pressed through the above steps
(S10-S40), it is cut into metal panel roof tiles of a desired length by a cutting device 160 (S50). Preferably, the metal panel is repeatedly cut into metal panel roof tiles of the same length, which can be entered and adjusted by the user.
[47] Although several exemplary embodiments of the present invention have been described for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
