Abstract

A clock distribution circuit (1) comprises a plurality of clock signal paths configured to distribute a clock signal (21) to a plurality of clock outputs (9-11) of the clock distribution circuit (1), a first clock signal generator (2) configured to generate a first clock signal, and a second clock signal generator (3) configured to generate a second clock signal. The second clock signal generator (3) consumes significantly less energy than the first clock signal generator (2). The clock distribution circuit (1) further comprises selecting means (18) configured to select one of the first or second clock signal generators (2, 3) and switching means (4) configured to either connect the first clock signal generator (2) or the second clock signal generator (3) to the plurality of clock signal paths dependent on the clock signal generator (2, 3) selected by the selecting means (18).
