Abstract

A method is provided for preventing parasites and especially hair parasites such as lice using accessories that are adapted to deter parasites and prevents infections. It is also provided a device that can be associated with a hair accessory that is provided with a repellent material. The prevention device comprises a repellent material provided within a matrix; the matrix is associated with an accessory.

Description

PARASITES INFECTION PREVENTION ACCESSORY
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to parasites prevention. More particularly, the present invention relates to hair accessories and components to be combined with hair accessories adapted to prevent head louse.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Head lice are very common and affect most of the children during their childhood. It is estimated that at any time, around 10% of the population is infected by head lice. The incidence of head lice is only slightly improved from the reported incidence in 1940, which was prior to the advent of insecticides and "superior" knowledge by the medical establishment
Head lice typically cause itching of the scalp. In some cases, a person may develop lesions or papules on the scalp, swollen glands in the neck or under the arms, or other symptoms. In addition, infection with head lice often causes negative social implications.
Transmitting potential of hair lice from one person to the other is very high. The hair lice are transmitted simply by contact between the hair lice of one person and the body of another potential host. Current commercial treatments for head lice include applying an insecticide on the scalp hair to kill the head lice. The pharmaceutically formulated insecticides are universally admixed in a water-based composition such as a shampoo, cream or lotion.
Similar problem is also known to occur in pets. U. S Patent No 6,083,519 titled "N-phenylpyrazole-based anti-flea and anti-tick collar for cats and dogs" filed on 1998 discloses Collar or other external device for a pet, in particular a cat or dog, made of a matrix in which is incorporated from 0.1 to 40% by weight, preferably from 1 to 15% by weight, relative to the collar, of a substance which is active against ectoparasites such as fleas and ticks, this active substance being formed of at least one compound corresponding to a certain disclosed formula. This collar or other external device being designed to ensure more than 6 months of efficacy against fleas and more than 3 months of efficacy against ticks, the efficacy being maintained for several weeks even if the collar or other external device is taken off or lost or if there is a variation in the release of the compound.
It would be desirable to provide a method for preventing the easy contagion especially of children with hair lice that will hold resistance to such contagion. It is also preferable to have a solution that will not use any unnatural or toxic insecticides.
There is clearly a need for a safe, effective preventive treatment for hair lice.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of preventing parasites and especially hair parasites such as lice and accessories that are adapted to deter parasites and prevents infections such as head lice infections.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a device that can be associated with a hair accessory that is provided with a repellent material. It is therefore provided in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, Parasites infection prevention device comprising a repellent material provided within a matrix, wherein said matrix is associated with an accessory.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said repellent material is soaked within a matrix that is encapsulated within a permeable capsule. Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is a sponge-like material.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is a cloth. Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said capsule comprises a tube-like member adapted to be closed.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is made of adsorbing material soaked with said repellent material.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the accessory is selected of a group of ponytail band, hair pin, hair slide, and other hair accessories.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is incorporated within said accessory.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is adhered on said accessory.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is a sticking band having two sides and wherein said sticking band comprises adsorbing material on one side and adhering material on the other side.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said adsorbing material is cellulose.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said repellent material is selected from a group of materials such as rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, green tea tree oil or vanilla extract, neem oil.
It is also provided in accordance with yet another preferred embodiment of the present invention, a method for preventing parasites comprising: providing a matrix; soaking repellent material within said matrix so as to form a soaked matrix; associating said soaked matrix with an accessory. Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is a sponge-like material that is provided within a permeable capsule. Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is adhere in onto the accessory.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said matrix is incorporated within the accessory.
Furthermore, in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the accessory is hair accessory.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
In order to better understand the present invention and appreciate its practical applications, the following Figures are attached and references herein. Like components are denoted by like reference numerals.
It should be noted that the figures are given as examples and preferred embodiments only and in no way limit the scope of the present invention as defined in the appending Description and Claims.
Figure 1 illustrates a capsule for deterring parasites in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 2 illustrates a cross sectional view within a ponytail band in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 3 illustrates a cross sectional view within a ponytail band in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention. Figure 4 illustrates a cross sectional view of an accessory filled with deterred material in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 5 illustrates views of sticking band having adsorbing material containing anti-hair-parasite, repellent material or capsules in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 6 illustrates a cross sectional view of hair arch with sticking band as described in Figure 5.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INEVNTION AND FIGURES
Hair lice are easily transmitted from one human host to the other and usually can not be detected before the symptoms of the infection are shown.
Therefore, efficient prevention of contagion with hair lice is needed. The major population that is exposed to hair lice is young children. In order to assist the prevention of hair lice contagion of children, natural components should be used as repellents.
Treating young children after they are infected with hair lice or conducting periodic unpleasant prevention treatments requires the attention of the parent as well as the patience of the child. The novel devices and method according to the present invention discloses a simple method and accessories aiming the prevention that does not require any sort of treatment.
Some of the natural components that are known to repel many sorts of parasites have a certain smell that repels the parasites but is almost un- sensed by humans. Therefore, using these repellents soaked within a matrix is both efficient and healthy for the potential host of the hair lice. In order to avoid resistance of the young child to the prevention treatment, the soaked matrix is associated with accessories such as a ponytail band, sticking band or any other accessory that is placed on or near the hair of the person.
Reference is now made to Figure 1 illustrating a capsule for repelling parasites in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Capsule 10 comprises a tube like member 12 that is preferably made of a permeable or semi permeable material having both sides closed by a cover 14. A cloth or a sponge 16 is provided within tube like member. Other agents such as capsulated or microencapsulated repellents could also be included in capsule 10. Cloth 16 is soaked with a liquid such as oil having a smell that is adapted to deter parasites such as lice, mosquito, flies etc. The liquid that in capsule 10 is released to the environment in a slow release manner, while the material itself does not have any contact with the outside environment of the capsule; however, the oil evaporates through the permeable material.
It should be mentioned that the capsule could be a capsule that is closed from all sides while the soaked cloth is incorporated within the capsule. In case a tube-like capsule is used, the capsule can comprise two covers from both sides, one cover at one side while the other side is a close opening and closed from both sides. The examples provided herein in no way limit the scope of the present invention. Reference is now made to Figure 2 illustrating a cross sectional view within a ponytail band in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Ponytail band 100 is preferably a regular band made of a fabric and having a rubber band sewn to it (the rubber is not shown in the Figure). The capsules 10 could be threaded in the band, sewn or glued to it. A plurality of capsules 10 as explained herein before are distributed within the band. When the band is attached to the hair of a child, for example, the oil or any other material that is adapted to deter parasites is not in a direct contact with the head skin; however, the evaporation of the material from within the capsule through the permeable or semi permeable tube will deter the parasites of the child's head.
It should be noted that the band is shown herein only as an example. The capsules can be incorporated within other accessories for hair such as „
hair clips, or hair slides or in other accessories such as pins, rings, necklace etc. The illustration of the band in no way limits the scope of the present invention.
Reference is now made to Figure 3 illustrating a cross sectional view within a ponytail band in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention. Ponytail band 200 is provided with balls 202 that are preferably made of wood or sponge or any adsorbing material. The balls 202 are initially soaked within a repelling or insecticidal materials such as rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, green tea tree oil or vanilla extract, neem oil or any other material, oil or water based, having such characteristics. The balls can be soaked in room temperature or while heated. Similarly to the capsules shown in Figure 2, the balls are incorporated within the band; however it should be noted that the balls could be incorporated in many other accessories that are worn by children. Reference is now made to Figure 4 illustrating a cross sectional view of an accessory filled with deterred material in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. This is an example of a ball-like accessory 300 for hair that can be attached to a band or to a hair-clip. The material from which accessory 300 is made of is preferably a permeable or semi permeable material that will allow a liquid trapped inside to evaporate through the material. A cloth 302 that is soaked with a material that is adapted to deter parasites as mentioned herein before is entrapped within accessory 300 and the smell of the evaporated gas deters the parasites.
Reference is now made to Figure 5 illustrating the back side view and cross sectional view of sticking band. The sticking band comprised of adsorbing material such as cellulose, attached on one side to preferably plastic band 54 covered with glue on the second side that enables sticking the band to hair accessory. The adsorbing material is covers on the second side by permeable layer 52. The adsorbing material 56 contain parasite-repellent or insecticidal material or capsules (as shown in Figure 1) that is adsorbed by the adsorbing material 56 and slowly released to the hair or the gas phase between or on the top of the hair. It is also possible to replace the plastic band by sticking permeable band. In such configuration the adsorbing material is directly adhere to the hair accessory. The sticking band can be incorporated in a hair accessory or adhered to the accessory by the user.
Reference is now made to Figure 6 illustrating hair arch, as sample of hair accessory, adhered with a sticking band in accordance with the a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The sticking band can be stacked to any hair accessories such as hair arch, hat, hair-clip etc, is the side that in touch with the head and can be replace from time to time after its loose its efficiency. It should be noted that in order to maintain the effectiveness of the accessory as a lice prevention accessory, it is preferable to use microcapsules or adsorbing material that will be released of the accessory in a slow-release manner.
As mentioned herein before, many of the materials that are used for deterring parasites are oils. The oil can be entrapped in micellar or liposome structure that will allow slow release of the material from an aqueous phase.
Generally, in accordance with the method of the present invention, a capsule adapted to deter parasites is incorporated within the accessory. The capsule can be a cloth soaked with deterring material that is incorporated in a closed member or a wooden member that is soaked in the deterring material.
It should be clear that the description of the embodiments and attached Figures set forth in this specification serves only for a better understanding of the invention, without limiting its scope as covered by the following Claims.
It should also be clear that a person skilled in the art, after reading the present specification can make adjustments or amendments to the attached Figures and above described embodiments that would still be covered by the following Claims.

Claims

1. Parasites infection prevention device comprising a repellent material provided within a matrix, wherein said matrix is associated with an accessory.
2. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said repellent material is soaked within a matrix that is encapsulated within a permeable capsule.
3. The device as claimed in Claim 2, wherein said matrix is a sponge-like material.
4. The device as claimed in Claim 2, wherein said matrix is a cloth.
5. The device as claimed in Claim 2, wherein said capsule comprises a tube-like member adapted to be closed.
6. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said matrix is made of adsorbing material soaked with said repellent material.
7. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein the accessory is selected of a group of ponytail band, hair pin, hair slide, and other hair accessories.
8. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said matrix is incorporated within said accessory.
9. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said matrix is adhered on said accessory.
10. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said matrix is a sticking band having two sides and wherein said sticking band comprises adsorbing material on one side and adhering material on the other side.
11. The device as claimed in Claim 10, wherein said adsorbing material is cellulose.
12. The device as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein said repellent material is selected from a group of materials such as rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, green tea tree oil or vanilla extract, neem oil.
13. A method for preventing parasites comprising: providing a matrix; soaking repellent material within said matrix so as to form a soaked matrix; associating said soaked matrix with an accessory.
14. The method as claimed in Claim 13, wherein said matrix is a sponge-like material that is provided within a permeable capsule.
15. The method as claimed in Claim 13, wherein said matrix is adhere in onto the accessory.
16. The method as claimed in Claim 13, wherein said matrix is incorporated within the accessory.
17. The method as claimed in Claim 13, wherein the accessory is hair accessory.
18. A parasites infection prevention device substantially as described in the above specification, attached Figures and appending Claims.
19. A method for preventing parasites substantially as described in the above specification, attached Figures and appending Claims.
