Abstract

A capacitance sensor of the present invention comprises arrayed sensor electrodes, a switch unit for selecting a part of the sensor electrodes, and a capacitance detection unit for detecting the capacitances between the selected sensor electrodes and the earth. A position sensor of the present invention comprises such a capacitance sensor for changing the sensor electrodes selected every predetermined time by the switch unit and a data processing unit. The data processing unit can calculate the position of a conductor that has approached by weighting information indicating the capacitance with information indicating the position and calculating an average (weighted average).
