Abstract

A secondary cell includes: a polarity plate group (1) formed by winding or layering a positive electrode plate (2) and a negative electrode plate (3) via a separator (4); and a cell case (7) containing the polarity plate group (1) and an electrolyte. At least one of the positive electrode plate (2) and the negative electrode plate (3) has a porous protection film (28) formed on the surface of an active material layer. A plurality of grooves (10) are formed on the surface of the electrode plate having the porous protection film (28). The grooves (10) reach the surface of the active material layer from the surface of the porous protection film (28) and are formed on the surface of the active material layer, too.
