Abstract

A modulation scheme with a large bit rate is applied to a sub channel with good transmission path characteristics, and a modulation scheme with a low bit rate is applied to a sub channel with poor transmission path characteristics for transmission. In this case, information on the transmission path characteristics is detected from signals received in transmission path characteristics detection units (19,29), and a combination of transmission power of each sub channel with which the bit rate over a full band is the maximum is determined in maximum bit rate calculation units (20,30) by means of a minimization algorithm of a matroid convex function. The determined combination of the transmission power for each sub channel and the modulation scheme (bit rate) is used to transmit signals.
