- the assembly 34 includes a pair of flanges 35 including flange portions 36 and 37 secured together by means of threadedS shafts 38 and nuts 39 engaged with the shafts 38 so that upon the shafts 38 being placed under retention, the flange portions 36 and 37 securely engage the housing 14.
- Extending between the flanges 35 is a mounting plate 40 to which the device 29 is attached, with the plate 40 having a central aperture 41 through which the shaft 28 extends.
- the motor0 car 50 is a typical sedan in that it includes a cabin 51, a pair of front wheels 52 and a pair of rear wheels 53. Typically the car 50 also has an engine bay 54 that receives an internal combustion engine and associated drive train that drives the front wheels 52.
- the motor car 50 may originally be a front wheel drive vehicle or an all wheel drive vehicle. However in the present instance, the motor car 50 has been modified so that the internal combustion engine and associated drive train drives the pair of front wheels 52 only.

- the housing 83 would have a generally central upwardly facing aperture exposing the gears within the housing 83, with a flange 86 surrounding the opening and having a plurality of threaded studs 87.
- the housing 85 is of a welded construction including a base plate 88 having apertures 89 through which the studs 87 pass to engage threaded nuts to fix the housing 85 to the housing 83.
- Welded to the base 88 is a generally cylindrical sleeve 90 to which there is fixed a mounting plate 91.
- An electric device 92 is fixed to the plate 91.
- the studs 87 would also pass through a mounting flange for the housing part 92 through which a shaft 93 passes to be drivingly connected to the device 92.
- the sleeve 90 has apertures 94 via which access is provided to the studs 87 and nuts applied thereto.
- the sleeve 90 may be of a unitary construction or a plurality of segments 95 that are secured together and are as illustrated in Figure 18 in a parts exploded isometric view.
- the wheels 84 have a rotation axis 96, with the device 92 and its associated shaft 93 having an axis 97 extending generally upward relative to the axis 96 and generally normal thereto.
- use of the electric device and its associated housing is suitable for rear wheel drive as well as all wheel drive vehicles, and is particularly suited for the use as a "conversion kit" for installations in such vehicles.
- the various devices 29, 66 and 92 may be a motor provided for driving purposes only, or may be provided as a motor/generator to not only drive but also provide electric power. Where the device purely acts as a motor, the motor would receive electric energy from storage batteries and/or an alternator operatively associated with the vehicle motor.

Abstract
L'invention concerne un ensemble moteur (10) pour un véhicule tel qu'un camion à moteur. L'ensemble (10) comprend un premier carter (13) comprenant un premier ensemble engrenage différentiel ayant une couronne dentée (17). La couronne dentée (17) est entraînée par un premier pignon relié à un arbre de transmission (19). En général, l'arbre de transmission (19) doit est entraîné par le moteur du véhicule.
