Abstract

This invention provides a DLC film comprising ta-C, that is, DLC having an sp3/(sp2 + sp3) structural ratio of 0.5 to 0.9, a hydrogen content of 0 to 5 atomic%, a nanoindentation hardness of 40 to 100 GPa, and a density of 2.7 to 3.4 g/cm3. In surface scanning detection at a measuring feed of 0.01 mm with a tracer-type surface shape measuring device having a tracer tip radius of curvature of 2 μm on the surface of a film formed on a base material, the absolute value change level of arithmetical mean roughness between the arithmetic mean roughness Ra (S) of a film forming face before the formation of a film on the base material and the arithmetic mean roughness Ra (D) of the DLC film face, i.e., ΔRa (= |Ra(S) - Ra(D)|), is not more than 0.75 nm, and the number of concavoconvexes having a height or depth of not less than 20 nm on the DLC film face is not more than 0.01/unit scanning distance (mm)/unit film thickness (nm).
