Abstract

[PROBLEMS] With respect to a tap covered with hard coating, to even in tapping machining of mild steel, etc., facilitate curling of chips while inhibiting any fusion adhesion to thereby inhibit any entanglement thereof and to stably realize the abrasion resistance by the hard coating, thereby attaining not only enhancement of tool life duration but also continuous operation of tapping machining. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] At the portion of twist groove (20) functioning as a rake surface, hard coating (28) is provided on oxide film (26). Accordingly, the hard coating (28) is easily detached to thereby bring about surface exposure of the oxide film (26) to thereby inhibit any fusion adhesion to mild steel, etc. Further, curling of chips is facilitated to thereby inhibit any breakage by entanglement. Moreover, at portions other than twist groove (20) of screw part (16), the hard coating (28) is directly superimposed on the surface of tool base material (24), so that not only is the configuration of interfacial portion with detached hard coating (28), namely, hard coating (28) at cutting edge portion stabilized but also there are attained maintenance of high adhesion and stabilization of coating performance and cutting performance of cutting blade (22).
