Abstract

Disclosed are: a solution comprising a blended material and a solvent, wherein the blended material comprises a resol resin having a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 50,000 and a poly(vinyl butyral) having a solution viscosity of 10 to 100 mPa•s blended in the resol resin in an amount of 0.5 to 5 wt% relative to the total weight of the blended material; a fiber comprising the blended material; a sheet-like material comprising the fiber; a method for producing the fiber; and a method for producing the sheet-like material. It becomes possible to improve the poor spinnability of a conventional resol resin and also improve the brittleness of a fiber produced from the resol resin. Thus, it becomes possible to provide a fiber and a sheet-like material both mainly composed of a resol resin and having improved handling properties.
