Abstract
It is possible to provide an optical recording medium which has three or more information layers and can increase the setting density in the thickness direction of the information layers as compared to the conventional technique while suppressing crosstalk upon reproduction. A method for reproducing the recording medium is also provided. An optical recording medium (10) has a three-layer structure formed by a substrate (12), a first information layer (14), a first spacer layer (16), a second information layer (18), a second spacer layer (20), a third information layer (22), and a cover layer (24) which is thinner than the substrate (12). These layers are successively layered in this order on the substrate (12). The first information layer (14) has a reflection factor R1, the second information layer (18) has a reflection factor R2, and a third information layer (22) has a reflection factor R3 which satisfy Expression (1) as follows. (R2 x R3 x R2)/R1 ≤ 0.0032 ... Expression (1) The thickness of the first spacer layer (16) is identical to the thickness of the second spacer layer (20).
