Abstract

 誘電体から成る板状の本体11内に空孔12が周期的に配置されて成るベース領域131内に、複数の遷移領域140、1411~1414、1421~1424を一方向に連接するように設ける。これら遷移領域群において、空孔12の配置周期akは中央(a0)から端に向かって単調に減少する。この配置周期akは(1-Ck2)a0とすることが望ましい。これにより、導波路15に平行な方向にガウス分布で減衰する電磁界分布が導波路15内に形成される。また、各領域を貫くように、空孔12を欠損させて成る導波路15を設け、それを挟む両側の空孔を互いに近づくようにシフトさせることにより、導波路15の幅をシフトのない場合よりも狭くする。これにより、モード体積を保ったままガウス分布の幅を広くすることができるため、従来よりも高いQ値を持つ光共振器が得られる。
