Abstract

A light emitting device is formed by a transparent substrate (1) made of, for example, a glass material, a first electrode layer (transparent electrode made of, for example, ITO) (2) formed on the substrate, a light-emitting functional layer (4) containing an organic material and formed on the first electrode layer, and a back electrode (5) made of, for example, a metal material, serving as a second electrode layer, and formed on the light-emitting functional layer. In addition, first auxiliary electrodes (3) are provided on one surface of the first electrode layer (2), and second auxiliary electrodes (6) are provided on one surface of the second electrode layer. The first auxiliary electrodes (3) can reduce a voltage drop caused by the first electrode layer (2) and can decrease the rate of occurrence of luminance gradients. The second auxiliary electrodes (6) act so as to reduce uneven light emission caused by the first auxiliary electrodes (3).
