Abstract

People undergoing physical therapy or occupational therapy, and more over people who are confined to a wheelchair during or after their rehabilitation, needs a simple, mobile, multi-purpose rehabilitation and exercise device that allows them to perform a variety of exercises and activities. The main disadvantage with the current equipment is that it's not targeted to people on wheelchairs. The new invention was developed especially for disable people. The simplicity and mobility of the invention allows those people to practice on their own at their residences, or elsewhere. The invention is attached easily to every wheelchair or regular chair and turns it to a complete fitness gym. One of the main advantages of the invention is the filling of comfort and confidence one gets from being able to practice at his own wheelchair and to perform almost endless variety of exercises.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The subject invention relates to physical fitness devices, and more particularly to devices designed for rehabilitation and fitness training. The rehabilitation and fitness trainer of the subject invention targets senior adults as well as individuals undergoing physical therapy. Furthermore, the subject invention relates to a device that is portable, easy to use and accommodates a wide variety of users, including users who are wheelchair bound.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There is numerous exercise devices intended to be used while seated. The user is usually bound to a wheelchair or undergoing physical therapy or has motility restrictions. None of the existing equipment intended for use by the above users is small and simple enough to allow full independence in using and adjusting the equipment and in same time offers a vast variety of exercises and all of that at a relatively very low price
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OFTHE DRAWINGS

FIG 2. The invention connected to a wheelchair
FIG 3. The invention with a regular chair
FIG 4. The mechanism of pulling and resistance
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The invention consists of mechanism of pulling and resistance (1) ("mechanism"). The mechanism in assemble on a profile (4), with height adjustable options. . The profile is connected to an arc (5) that allows adjusting the angle of the mechanism (1).
The invention base (6) has adaptors (7) that can lock the invention to the large wheel of a wheelchair and also a retractable platform (21) to be used with a regular chair (9) or a wheelchair (8).
The mechanism of pulling and resistance (1) ("mechanism") consist of pulling handles (2) connected to wheels (10) with retraction springs (19) assembled on bearings (11) that turns one way only. The bearings and a cog wheel are connected to an axis (12). A chain (14) transfers the spinning movement to another cog wheel (15). This cog wheel is connected to another axis (16). A wheel (17) is connected to this axis, a suitable component (18) is design to imply pressure on the wheel (17). The pressure can be regulated with a knob (3).
Different type of mechanism (1) can use that create resistant when puling handles. The mechanism described above is only one example.
Using the invention
An individual using a wheelchair (8) or seated on a regular chair (9) connect to the invention via adaptors (7) or retractable platform (21).
The user adjusts the mechanism (1) to the desire height and angle and adjusts the desire resistance using the knob (3). Then the user pulls the handle.
