Definitions

  • the present invention refers to a single-door refrigerator provided with a "no-frost” refrigeration module.
  • the invention further has for object said "no-frost” refrigeration module, which can be used in refrigerators and freezers in general.
  • No-frost system consists in an air cooling system using one or more fans, evaporators and ducts which are installed in a region out of user's view, and while cooling the air, the evaporator also dries it, removing moisture from the refrigerated environment and accumulating ice in its surface, which is periodically removed by an automatic defrosting system.
  • Components in basic "no-frost" system are an evaporator, a fan and a duct system which have for objective to promote cold air blowing in the freezing and refrigerated compartments and promote the return of air from these compartments to the evaporator, and a temperature control system of said compartments.
  • the "no-frost" system is usually applied to two-doors refrigerators and has advantages of a better quality of freezing, a better refri- geration and distribution of cold air in refrigerator compartments, in addition to eliminate the need of periodical defrosting of evaporator(s) of refrigerator's compartment(s), which usually is performed by manual or semi-automatic means (through defrosting push button).
  • the consumer or user should start defrosting operation through a push button that turns off the product until the thermostat bulb located in the evaporator reaches 6 s C.
  • Defrosting process usually is performed by natural convection and takes from 7 to 10 hours to be completed. User frequently accelerates defrosting through refrigerator door opening and by using a fan to blow hot air from environment inwards refrigerator. At this time, foods will defrost if they remain in the freezing compartment and, on account of this, user's manual recommends to remove foods during defrosting process. This is the ma- in reason for dissatisfaction on the part of the user of this type of product, specially due to the high frequency of this operation (usually each one or two weeks). Moreover, ice formation in evaporator causes loss of performance, resulting in increase of temperature in both freezing and refrigerated com- partments.
  • the present invention has for objective to provide a single-door refrigerator provided with "no-frost" concept, thereby eliminating the need of defrosting and removal of foods from the freezing compartment as mentio- ned above, thus eliminating user's dissatisfaction.
  • the single-door refrigerator is provided with a freezing compartment and a refrigerated compartment, the refrigerator being provided with a "no-frost” refrigeration module.
  • the module comprises, in an integrated manner, an air diffuser in which a fan motor is assembled, a fan associated with the fun motor, an evaporator with defrost heater, an accumulator and a drain pot.
  • the "no-frost" refrigeration module is arranged near the region of the freezing compartment and substantially vertical inside refrigerator, in such a way that the longitudinal geometrical axis of the refrigeration module is substantially parallel to the longitudinal geometrical axis of the refrigerator.
  • the "no-frost" refrigeration module is arranged near the region of the freezing compartment and substantially horizontal inside refrigerator, in such a way that the longitudinal geometrical axis of the refrigeration module is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal geometrical axis of the refrigerator.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of the "no-frost" refrigeration module of the present invention

  • Figure 11 is an alternative construction of the refrigerator regar- ding that one shown in Figure 10.
  • Figures 1 and 2 show a "no-frost" refrigeration module 1 according to the present invention, which can be used in a refrigerator having an integrated freezing compartment or not, as well as a freezer having one or more doors.
  • the "no-frost" refrigeration module 1 comprises a fan 2, a fan motor 3, an evaporator with heater for automatic defrosting 4, an air diffuser 5, an accumulator 6 and a drain pot 7.
  • Figures 3, 4 and 5 show the "no-frost" refrigeration module 1 installed vertically inside a single-door refrigerator 8, i.e., in such a position that the longitudinal geometrical axis of module 1 is arranged substantially paral- IeI to the longitudinal geometrical axis of the refrigerator 8.
