Abstract

A wire conductor and an insulated wire in which degradation in strength due to reduction in weight and diameter is improved and heat generation during conduction can be suppressed. The wire conductor (10a) is formed by stranding seven copper strands (12) and one stainless steel strand (14). The stainless steel strand (14) is formed to have a smaller elongation percentage and a larger cross-sectional area as compared with those of the copper strand (12). The wire conductor (10a) may be compressed circularly. Preferably, the cross-section area of the wire conductor (10a) is 0.3 mm2 or less. The wire conductor (10a) is an insulated wire obtained by coating the outer circumference with an insulator.
