Definitions
- the present invention relates to an array antenna including a feeding element and a non-excitation element.
- a super gain antenna is an antenna that can produce a gain that is higher than that of a single antenna by placing a reflector close to a monopole antenna or a dipole antenna.
- the super gain antenna has a unidirectional force due to the arrangement of the reflecting plate, and the size of the reflecting plate depends on a desired resonance frequency.
- the super gain antenna can have multi-resonance characteristics by providing a non-excited element with a feed element force that is simply spaced at a length of ⁇ ⁇ or less, but it can control the directivity of the super gain antenna. The technology to do is not clear.
- an ESPAR antenna is an antenna in which a monopole or dipole is used as a feed element, and a non-excitation element is arranged around it, and the value of a reactance element loaded on the non-excitation element is changed. Therefore, controllable directivity can be provided (see Non-Patent Document 1). In this case, there is a limit to downsizing the non-excited elements because the element spacing is 1Z4 wavelength based on the principle of the Yagi-Uda antenna.

- FIG. 1 shows the entire array antenna according to the present invention as viewed obliquely upward.
- array The antenna 10 includes a quadrangular prism-shaped dielectric 12 disposed on the ground substrate 19, and the central axis extending in the column direction of the dielectric 12, that is, the long axis is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the ground substrate 19. .
- the ground substrate 19 is, for example, a 30 mm square dielectric substrate, and its surface is covered with a conductor to form an ideal antenna ground plane.
- the dielectric 12 includes a cylindrical feed element 11 embedded therein along its long axis (Z-axis).
- the feed element 11 is an electrical conductor and constitutes a wavelength monopole antenna.
- the upper end of the feed element 11 extends to the vicinity of the upper end of the dielectric 12, and the lower end of the feed element 11 electrically insulates the ground surface force of the ground substrate 19, while the back surface force of the ground substrate 19 is also external RF circuit (Not shown).
- the dielectric 12 is formed of a material force such as alumina, and the entire size of the array antenna 10 is reduced due to the wavelength contraction effect. If the wavelength in the free space of the desired resonance frequency is ⁇ and the relative permittivity of the dielectric 12 is ⁇ r, the resonance wavelength is about ⁇ ⁇ ⁇ r due to the wavelength shortening effect.
- the dielectric material 12 is also manufactured using an alumina material force, the relative dielectric constant is about 9, and the wavelength shortening effect can be obtained by shortening the wavelength of the desired radio wave signal to about one third of the wavelength force in the free space.
- FIG. 2 shows a view of the dielectric 12 shown in FIG.
- the dielectric 12 includes the feed element 11 and further includes four non-excitation elements 13 a to 13 d so as to surround the feed element 11.
- the four non-exciting elements 13a to 13d are formed of strip-shaped electrical conductors extending substantially parallel to the long axis (Z-axis) of the dielectric 12.
- one surface of each of the four non-exciting elements 13a to 13d faces the feed element 11, and the opposite surface faces the radial direction from the long axis (Z axis) of the dielectric 12.
- the lower ends of the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d are grounded to the ground substrate 19 via the reactance elements 14a to 14d.
- Each of the reactance elements 14a to 14d also has a capacitive reactance element force.
- the non-exciting elements 13a to 13d are formed on the side surfaces of the dielectric 12, and one of the surfaces is exposed to the outside. There is no limitation on the invention.
- the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d may be at least partially formed on the side surfaces of the dielectric 12.
- the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d may be arranged so as to be in contact with the corners of the dielectric 12 that is a quadrangular column. Good.
- the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d are part or all of the dielectric 12 inside. Is completely buried, okay.
- the element spacing between the feed element 11 and each of the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d is set to approximately 1Z10 wavelength or less of the wavelength determined in the dielectric 12.
- the design principle is different from the design principle of the standard Yagi-Uda antenna, and is based on the design principle of the proximity parasitic element. As a result, the distance between the feed element 11 and each of the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d can be made smaller than the 1Z4 wavelength.
- antenna configuration parameters in antenna design the element spacing between the feed element 11 and the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d, the dielectric height and width of the dielectric 12, the feed element length and the feed of the feed element 11 There are element diameter, non-excitation element length and non-excitation element width of the non-excitation elements 13a to 13d, and reactance values of the reactance elements 14a to 14d.
- These antenna configuration parameters are optimized to operate at a desired frequency using, for example, electromagnetic field analysis such as the finite element method.
- the feed element 11 is a monopole element, and the length of the feed element needs to be adjusted according to the impedance of the feed section of the RF circuit 17 or the like.
- the desired frequency is 2473 MHz and the dielectric constant of the dielectric 12 is 9, the element spacing is 0.075, the dielectric height is 25 mm, and the dielectric Width: 6 mm, feed element length: 22 mm, feed element diameter: 2.6 mm, non-excitation element length: 10 mm, non-excitation element width: 2 mm.
- 2pF, 2pF, 4pF and 2pF are obtained as the reactance values of the reactance elements 14a to 14d, respectively.
- FIG. 3 shows an electrical connection state in the embodiment of the present invention.
- the feed element 11 in the dielectric 12 is connected to the RF circuit 17 of the unit, and an RF (radio) signal is fed or received.
- the RF circuit 17 is a circuit that feeds or receives an RF signal such as a 2.4 GHz band.
- the non-exciting elements 13a and 13c on the side surface of the dielectric 12 are connected to the reactance elements 14a and 14c, respectively, and are loaded with capacitive reactance. The same applies to the reactance elements 14b and 14d not shown.
- varactor diodes that are variable capacitance elements are used as the reactance elements 14a to 14d.
- the capacitance of the inductor diode can be arbitrarily controlled depending on the DC voltage applied.
- the DC voltage is applied as a control signal from the external control circuit 18. In this way, by setting the voltage applied to each of the reactance elements 14a to 14d to an appropriate value, the value of each reactance is selected, and as a result, the directivity of the array antenna 10 is arbitrarily controlled.
- the reactance elements 14a to 14d may be fixed reactance elements having a constant reactance value such as a chip capacitor. By selecting the capacitance values of the reactance elements 14a to 14d in advance according to the desired directivity, fixed directivity can be obtained.
- FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 show the results of calculation simulation for the VSWR of the array antenna in this example.
- the VSWR Voltage Standing Wave Ratio
- the VSWR is a numerical value that indicates the voltage ratio between the traveling wave and the reflected wave in the transmission line to the feed line force antenna. This means that all the power supplied to the antenna is radiated, and in other cases, a part of the power is distributed as a reflected wave on the feeder line and is not radiated effectively.
- the reflected wave sharply decreases near the desired frequency of 2.473 GHz, and the value of VSWR is about 1.06. That is, it can be seen that the reflected wave from the array antenna is minimized, the signal power is appropriately supplied, and the resonance frequency is in an appropriate state at the desired frequency of 2.473 GHz.
- FIG. 5 the vicinity of the desired frequency number of 2.473 GHz is enlarged.
- VSWR value of approximately 1.06 is shown at point A (desired frequency 2.473 GHz)
- VSWR value of approximately 2.74 is expressed at point B (desired frequency 2.463 GHz). is doing.
- FIG. 6 shows the results of a calculation simulation of the directivity of the array antenna in this example.
- Antenna pattern (a) shows the directivity at point A (desired frequency 2.473 GHz) shown in Fig. 5, and antenna pattern (b) shows the point shown in Fig. 5 (desired frequency 2.463 GHz).
- the directivity in In each of the two antenna patterns the radial direction indicates the relative value of the radiated voltage, and the azimuth angle indicates the angle around the long axis of the array antenna.
- An azimuth angle of 135 degrees is the target direction of directivity.
- the antenna pattern (a) at the desired frequency has a shallower depth to the null point (a point where the radiation voltage is substantially zero) and the desired direction angle (135 degrees). It is recognized that a pattern that is biased depending on the direction is formed and the directivity is higher.
- the array antenna of the present embodiment can be optimized, for example, by improving the gain or deepening the null point, by performing an electromagnetic field analysis.
- the spacing force between the feed element and the non-excitation element is configured in the same proximity as the S super gain antenna, but does not require a reflector. Realized. In other words, by optimizing the reactance element value, the electromagnetic coupling between the non-excited element and the feed element in the radial direction is strengthened, and the force applied by the other non-excited elements is also used to install the reflector. Give the electromagnetic field behavior like this. This achieves the same effect without installing a reflector with a large area behind the feed element.
- variable reactance element is loaded on a non-excited element like an Esper antenna, but a configuration that does not require a large element spacing like a Yagi-Uda antenna is realized.
- the variable reactance element is, for example, a barracuda diode, the reactance value can be easily changed by an external control circuit, so that the directivity can be easily optimized.
- the dielectric is filled between the feed element and the non-excitation element, and a further miniaturized form is realized by the wavelength shortening effect of the dielectric.
- the use of a dielectric material enables a reduction in size in the height direction, thereby realizing a groundless antenna.
- the passive element can be formed by forming an electrically conductive portion on the side surface of the dielectric and then performing an etching process. Easy manufacturing is possible.
- the shape of the dielectric disposed in the array antenna has been described as a quadrangular prism.
- the present invention does not limit the shape of the dielectric to a cylinder or other prism.
- it may be a polyhedron including a cone, a pyramid, and the like.
- the number of non-excitation elements may be increased according to the shape of the dielectric. Due to the powerful deformation, the directivity resolution and gain can be further improved.
- FIG. 8 shows a modification of the array antenna according to the present invention.
- the array antenna according to the present invention may be formed such that a non-excitation element is arranged around the feeding element and is inclined with respect to the feeding element.
- (a) of FIG. 8 shows a form in which the dielectric 12 is a cone or a pyramid, and a non-exciting element 13 is inclined with respect to the feed element 11 on its side surface.
- FIG. 8 (b) shows a configuration in which the dielectric 12 is a cone or pyramid that is inverted with respect to the ground plane, and the non-exciting element 13 is inclined with respect to the feed element 11 on the side surface. Is shown.
- the distance D1 between the lower end 131 on the power feeding side of the non-excitation element 13 and the feeding element 11 is determined, and the distance between the upper end 132 opposite to the lower end 131 and the feeding element 11 is determined. D2 is determined.
- the element interval between the non-excitation element 13 and the feeding element 11 is an interval D1 that exceeds the interval D2, and is required to be ⁇ ⁇ or less.
- the interval D1 and the interval D2 are determined in the same manner.
- the element interval between the non-excitation element 13 and the feeding element 11 is an interval D2 exceeding the interval D1, and is required to be 1 / ⁇ or less.

<変形例>
