Description

BOOK HOLDER
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a book holder for supporting one side of an opened book, and more particularly to a book holder which is arranged on one side of an opened book and supports leaves of the book to prevent turning of the leaves of the book and closing of the book to promote the studying and reading effects, and which is small-sized and thus easy to carry in comparison to existing reading stands.
Background Art
The moderns meet with a large number of books for studying and general reading. In the case of thick books such as university major books or full-length novels, leaves of the book are apt to be turned over if a user does not hold the book, and this disturbs the user's concentration on the reading.
Accordingly, in order to prevent turning of the leaves of an opened book to another page and closing of the book and to promote the studying and reading effects, a user may place the book on a separate reading stand.
However, in order for a user to turn over the leaves of the book placed on the reading stand, he/she should move a support of the reading stand that support the leaves of the book, turn over the leaf of the book, and then place again the support on the leaf to cause the user inconvenience in use .
Further, since the reading stand is made of wood or metal and is large-sized to include the whole opened book, it has a large size and a heavy weight, and thus it is inconvenient for the user to carry the reading stand.
Furthermore, in the case where taking notes and underlining the book placed on the reading stand are required, the user should take out the book from the reading stand to take notes and underline the book, and then re-place the book on the reading stand to cause the user inconvenience .
Disclosure Technical Problem The present invention has been made in view of the foregoing problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a book holder which is arranged on one side of an opened book, supports leaves of the book to prevent turning of the leaves of the book and closing of the book, and facilitates the user's turning of the leaves of the book to promote the studying and reading effects.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a book holder which is small-sized and thus easy to carry in comparison to existing reading stands. Still another object of the present invention is to provide a book holder which facilitates a user' s taking notes and underlining on the book in a state that the book is held on the book holder.
Technical Solution In order to achieve the above objects, in one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a book holder, which comprises a lower body, arranged on one side of an opened book, for guiding an end part of the book to be held; and a support, extended from the lower body and provided to cover an upper side of the lower body, for elastically supporting the whole guided leaves of the book with pressure.
The support may have a pressure member, made of silicon or synthetic rubber and inserted in an end part of the support, for increasing the pressure between the support and the leaves of the book.
Advantageous Effects
The book holder as constructed above according to the present invention can support the leaves of the book to prevent turning of the leaves of the book and closing of the book, and facilitate the user' s turning of the leaves of the book to promote the studying and reading effects.
Brief Description of the Drawings The foregoing and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a book holder according to an embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a sectional view of a book holder taken along the line "H-II" in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a book holder in a used state according to the present invention; and
FIG. 4 is a side view of a book holder in a used state according to the present invention.
Best Mode
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The matters defined in the description are nothing but specific details provided to assist those of ordinary skill in the art in a comprehensive understanding of the invention, and the present invention is only defined within the scope of the appended claims.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a book holder according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a sectional view of a book holder illustrated in FIG. 1. FIG.
3 is a perspective view of a book holder in a used state according to the present invention.
A book holder 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a lower body 10 arranged on one side of an opened book, and a support 20, extended from the lower body 10, for elastically supporting leaves of the book with pressure.
The lower body 10 serves to support the whole leaves of the book 40 arranged thereon in an opened state, and includes a bottom support part 11 that is in contact with a bottom surface to provide a support base of the whole holder, and a guide part 12 formed in a circle on an upper side of the bottom support part 11.
The guide part 12 may be separately provided and be coupled to the bottom support part 11. However, in the embodiment of the present invention, the guide part 12 is formed on the bottom support part 11 in a body.
In order to support one side of an opened book, the guide part 12 is extended from one end part of the bottom support part 11, and is at least once wound to the inside to form a clip in association with the support 20 to be explained later. Accordingly, the guide part 12 allows the leaf of the book on the supported side of the book to slide along the guide part formed in a circle, and thus it prevents the leaves of the book on the non-supported side from turning to the supported side.
It is preferable that the lower body 10 is formed to have a weight enough to support the lower part of the book against a force acting to close the book, and to correspond to the height of the opened book. It is also preferable that the center of gravity of the lower body 10 is formed on the lower part of the extended side of the support 20 to be explained later, in order to stably support the book 40.
In addition, the lower body 10 can be diversely formed to have the shape of an animal, a fruit, and so forth. The support 20 prevents the gripped leaf from turning to a neighboring page by elastically supporting the leaves of the book with pressure in association with the lower body 10, and includes a bent part 21 vertically extended from the bottom support part 11 of the lower body 10 and bent in a horizontal direction of the lower body 10, and a gripping part 22 extended from the bent part 21 and formed to cover an upper part of the lower body 10.
In this case, the support 20 may be formed on the lower body 10 in a body, or may be separately formed and fixedly inserted in to lower body 10.
It is preferable that the support 20 is made of a metallic material that can be elastically deformed upward and downward depending on the thickness of the book 40 arranged between the lower body 10 and the support 20. On the other hand, in an end part of the support 20 that presses the leaves of the book 40, a pressure member 30 made of silicon or synthetic resin is inserted, and serves to increase the pressing force acting on the opened book 40.
Although the book holder 1 can be constructed by the lower body 10 and the support 20 only, it may be further provided with the pressure member 30 to increase the pressing force acting on the opened book 40 and to protect the leaf from getting torn or damaged by the support 20 made of a metallic material having an elastic force.
In this case, it is preferable that the end part of the pressure member 30 is formed to be inclined downward in order to support the leaves of the book 40 more effectively.
The pressure member 30 may be made in diverse shapes by those skilled in the art in the same manner as the lower body 10. For example, if the lower body 10 is made to have the shape of an animal, the pressure member 30 may be made to have the shape of paws of the corresponding animal. Also, if the lower body 10 is made to have the shape of a fruit, the pressure member 30 may be made to have the shape of branches or leaves of a tree.
Although not illustrated in the drawing, the pressure member 30 may also be made to be detachable from the support 20, so that a user can selectively use the pressure member 30 in accordance with the user's taste.
Hereinafter, a method of using the book holder 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described as a whole.
First, the cover of the opened book 40 is supported by the lower body 10, and the leaves of the book are pressed by the support 20 that is inserted into the pressure member 30.
In the case where the book holder 1 is arranged on one side of the book 40 and supports the book in the form of a clip, the cover of the book on the supported side slides into the guide part of the lower body 10 so as to prevent the leaves on the non-supported side from turning to the support side .
In this case, the pressure member 30 serves not only to press the leaves of the opened book 40 but also to indicate the currently read part of the book.
Accordingly, if it is required to underline or take notes on the opened book 40, the book holder facilitates the user' s doing so in a state that the book is arranged on the book holder 1. In addition, after turning the leaf of the book, the user can easily insert the leaf into the support 20 that presses the leaf.
If the number of leaves on one side of the book 40, which have been inserted into the book holder 1, becomes larger than the number of leaves on the other side of the book 40, the user may pull the book holder 1 from the one side of the book 40 and arrange the book holder on the other side of the book 40 to insert the leaves thereof into the book holder 1. In addition, the user can selectively use diverse types of pressure members 30 that are detachable from the support
20 in accordance with the user' s taste, and may use only the support 20 except for the pressure member 30 in supporting the leaves of the book. Industrial Applicability
As can be seen from the foregoing, the book holder according to the present invention is arranged on one side of an opened book, supports leaves of the book to prevent turning of the leaves of the book and closing of the book, and facilitates the user' s turning of the leaves of the book to promote the studying and reading effects.
Further, the book holder according to the present invention is small-sized and thus easy to carry in comparison to existing reading stands.
Furthermore, the book holder according to the present invention facilitates a user' s taking notes and underlining on the book in a state that the book is held on the book holder. While this invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment and the drawings. On the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and variations within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
