Abstract
A wound debridement simulator for simulating procedures relating to surgical debridement of a wound is provided. The wound debridement simulator includes a visual display for displaying a simulated rendering of a portion of a human body upon which a wound has been inflicted. The wound debridement simulator also includes a modeling system in communication with the visual display, the system causing the animated rendering to change in response to a simulated touching of the portion of the human body. Additionally, the wound debridement simulator further includes a haptic device in communication with the tissue modeling system, the device simulating force feedback based upon the simulated touching. The wound debridement simulator also includes a training module in communication with both the tissue modeling system and the haptic device, the module causing the system and device to operate in a predefined manner in response to one or more user-supplied inputs.
