- the relative viscosity (RV) of PA 6.6 is the ratio of the viscosity of a solution of 8.4 weight-% polymer in a solution of 90 % formic acid to the viscosity of the formic acid solution. 5.5 g polymer are dissolved in 50 ml formic acid (90%). Viscosity measurements are performed using a Cannon-Fenske viscometer at 25 0 C.
- every sample (extruded or synthesized PA 6,6) is dried under vacuum at 80° C for 2 hours.
- the reaction is carried out in a 500 ml flask equipped with two dropping funnels in a water bath at 32°C.
- the first dropping funnel 13.92 g (0.119 mol) hexamethylenediamine are dissolved in 25 ml methanol, the other contains a solution of 17.70 g (0.120 mol) adipic acid in 80 ml methanol. Both solutions are simultaneously (during 2 min.) dropped into the flask and the temperature is increased up to 45-50 0 C.

- the mixture is stirred for 30 minutes and then the temperature is raised up to 225°C. After 1.5 h at this temperature at a pressure of 8-11 bar the autoclave is vented and the mixture is stirred 15 minutes under nitrogen atmosphere. After cooling down to room temperature the resulting polyamide 6.6 is removed mechanically and is grinded.
