Abstract
The tray is formed from a sheet which defines a bottom (1), a pair of headers (3) and a pair of sides (2), each end of the sides (2) comprising a flap provided with at least four folding lines which define two intermediate sectors (4a) , an end sector (4b) fixed to the header (3) , and an additional sector (4c) folded on said end sector (4b) and fixed to it, the tray comprising also a pair of folding lines (5) inclined in opposite direction at each header, and it is characterised in that said additional sector (4c) is folded on the external part of said end sector (4b) . It is obtained a tray more resistant than the trays currently known.
Description
TRAY FOR TRANSPORTING PRODUCTS
The present invention refers to a tray for transporting products, formed from a cardboard sheet and that can be transported folded when it is empty.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There are a lot of trays for the transportation of products formed from a compact-cardboard sheet which defines the bottom of the tray, two sides and two headers. To strengthen the structure of the tray, reinforcement columns are formed at its corners from flaps which extend from the sides or from the headers. There are known trays which comprise folding lines inclined in opposite directions at the sides or at the headers to facilitate its transportation occupying a reduced space when they are empty, and they are also provided with a vertical folding line in said reinforcement columns. Therefore, the tray can be folded when it is transported empty.
The manufacturers of this kind of trays for transporting products always try to obtain an increased strength, with the minimum possible material and neither occupying the internal space of the tray nor damaging the products transported inside it.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
With the tray of the invention said drawbacks can be solved, presenting other advantages that will be described.
The tray for transporting products is formed from a sheet which defines a bottom, a pair of headers and a pair of sides, each end of the sides comprising a flap
provided with at least four folding lines which define two intermediate sectors, an end sector fixed to the header, and an additional sector folded on said end sector and fixed to it, the tray comprising also a pair of folding lines inclined in opposite direction at each header, and it is characterised in that said additional sector is folded on the external part of said end sector.
According to a second embodiment, said flap at each of the ends of the sides comprises a fifth folding line which defines a second additional sector, which is folded on one of said intermediate sectors and is fixed to it.
According to a third embodiment, said additional sector extends to the corner between the header and the side, being fixed to the header.
In this case, said flap at each of the ends of the sides can comprise a fifth folding line which defines a second additional sector, which is fixed to the adjacent side . The tray of the present invention presents a great resistance and, at the same time, it is avoided the edge of the additional flap to be in contact with the product to be transported inside the tray.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
For a better understanding of what has been described, some drawings are attached in which, diagrammatically and only as a non-limitative example, is shown a practical case of embodiment.
Fig. Ia is a perspective view of a corner of the tray for transporting products of the present invention, according to a first embodiment;
Fig. Ib is a perspective view of a corner of the tray for transporting products of the present invention,
according to a second embodiment;
Fig. Ic is a perspective view of a corner of the tray for transporting products of the present invention, according to a third embodiment; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the corners of the tray of the present invention, according to the embodiment of Fig. Ia, partially folded.
DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
As can be seen from Fig. Ia, in which is shown a first embodiment of the tray of the present invention, it comprises only one sheet of compact cardboard which defines a bottom 1, two sides 2 and two headers 3. The ends of each side 2 comprise a flap provided with four folding lines which define two intermediate sectors 4a, an end sector 4b and an additional sector 4c. The end sector 4b is fixed to the header 3 and the additional sector 4c is folded on the external part of said end sector 4b, and it is also fixed to the header 3.
In the present description, the external part is that part which is not directed inwardly in the tray of the present invention.
The intermediate sectors 4a are not fixed neither to the side 2 nor to the header 3, permitting the folding of the tray. This folding is possible thanks to the presence of folding lines 5 inclined in opposite directions in the headers 3 of the tray of the present invention, one of them is shown in fig. 2. In fig. Ib is shown a second embodiment of the tray of the present invention. The only difference with respect to the tray of fig. Ia is that the flap of the sides comprises an additional folding line which defines a second additional sector 4d folded and fixed to one of the intermediate sectors 4a.
In fig. Ic is shown a second embodiment of the tray of the present invention. The only difference with respect to the tray of fig. Ib is that the additional sector 4c extends to the corner between the header 3 and the lateral 2, and the second additional sector 4d is fixed to the side 2.
Even though reference is made to some embodiments of the invention, it is apparent for a person skilled in the art that the tray for transporting products described is susceptible of numerous variations and modifications, and that all cited details can be substituted by other ones technically equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection defined by the attached claims .
