Description

PIPE UNION
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a union, and more particularly, to a pipe union for connecting both eccentric pipes with each other.
Background Art
In general, a union is to connect both pipes such as a stainless steel pipe, a synthetic resin coated pipe, a hard material softening vinyl pipe including a water pipe. The union includes a union screw connecting to one pipe, a union collar connecting to the other pipe, and a union nut connecting to both the union screw and the union collar. In the union, each element is straight-line shaped and combined, and the pipes to be jointed should be disposed on the same central line, that is, on the same straight line to make joint possible. However, in a process of a piping work, the both pipes may be alternated in view of axis, and may not be on the same axis in an installation structure. In this case, mostly, the alternating pipes are pulled or pushed to forcibly be on the same straight line and then, are connected with the union.
In the above combined pipes, there occurs a drawback in that because a connection force of a connection screw part is concentrated on one side, airtightness can be deteriorated and the screw part can be weakened. Specifically, when eccentricity is relatively greater, an angle of a screw thread is not adapted and thus the union nut is run idle, thereby disabling the joint. In this case, an assistant device such as a flexible coupling should be used.
Disclosure Technical Problem Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a pipe union that substantially obviates one or more of the problems due to limitations and disadvantages of the related art.
An object of the present invention is to provide a pipe union for firmly combining both pipes alternating in a piping work or in an installation structure, without torsion on a screw connection part.
Technical Solution
To achieve these and other advantages and in accordance with the purpose of the present invention, as embodied and broadly described, there is provided a pipe union including a union screw, a union collar, and a union nut. A connection part 22 is attached to an outer surface of the union collar
20, and is distant away out of a center of the union collar, thereby providing a predetermined eccentricity, and a connection part 32 is attached to an outer surface of the union screw 30 and is distant away out of a center of the union screw, thereby providing a predetermined eccentricity.
Advantageous Effects
As described above, the inventive pipe union can assemble both pipes having eccentricities, with simplicity and convenience. The pipe union can assemble the both pipes to a combination screw part without overstrain, thereby keeping airtightness and preventing a damage of the screw part, and can connect the pipes to some extent of eccentricity, without a separate device.
Description of Drawings FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a pipe union according to the present invention; and
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a combination state of a pipe union according to the present invention.
Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a pipe union according to the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a construction of the pipe union according to the present invention and exemplifies a use state of the pipe union.
Referring to the drawings, the pipe union includes a union screw connecting to one pipe; a union collar connecting to the other pipe; and a union nut combining the union screw with the union collar provided at both sides.
The above will be in more detail described below.
First, a connection part 22 has a through-hole at its center, and is integrally provided on an outer surface of the union collar 20 fitted and connecting to an end of the one pipe 1. The connection part 22 has a smaller diameter than the union collar 20, and its center is distant away out of a center of the union collar 20, thereby providing a predetermined eccentricity.
A connection part 32 also has a through-hole at its center, and is integrally provided on an outer surface of the union screw 30 fitted and connecting to an end of the other pipe 2. The connection part 32 also has a smaller diameter than the union screw 30, and its center is distant away out of a center of the union screw 30, thereby providing a predetermined eccentricity.
A locking jaw 24 protruding outward is provided at an inner end of the union collar 20. A nut 10 is provided and has a locking jaw 12 engaged to the locking jaw. After fixing the union collar 20, the nut 10 is coupled with the union screw 30 while combining the union collar 20 with the union screw 30. Packing 14 is provided between the union collar and the union screw. The connection parts 22 and 32 provided at the union collar 20 and the union screw 30, respectively, are hexagonal shaped such that they can turn by a tool such as a spanner. The hexagonal shaped connection parts 22 and 32 are provided with identifying numbers 26 and 36 on their faces, respectively. Thus, it is easy to find eccentric positions based on an interval suitable to eccentric distances of the both pipes 1 and 2.
The above constructed pipe union according to the present invention is used as follows.
First, when the both pipes intended to combine with each other are disposed on the same line, the respective connection parts 22 and 32 of the union collar 20 and the union screw 30 are disposed at the same position and are combined with the both pipes, respectively. And then, the nut 10 is combined with the union collar 20 and the union screw 30.
The union collar is rotated such that, as the eccentric distances of the both pipes get greater, a central distance between the respective connection parts 22 and 32 gets greater, and a combination is made at a suitable position.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, the inventive pipe union can assemble both pipes having eccentricities, with simplicity and convenience. The pipe union can assemble the both pipes to a combination screw part without overstrain, thereby keeping airtightness and preventing a damage of the screw part, and can connect the pipes to some extent of eccentricity, without a separate device.
While the present invention has been described and illustrated herein with reference to the preferred embodiments thereof, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention covers the modifications and variations of this invention that come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents .
