Description

Description
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING ELECTRONIC
CATALOGUES
Technical Field
[1] This invention is for a system and a method for providing electronic catalogues. In detail, it is about a system and method for providing electronic catalogues to offer online electronic catalogues before/after the exhibition to the visitors who want catalogues than to distribute paper- type catalogues in exhibitions and conventions. Background Art
[2] Generally, a company exhibits its products in exhibitions or conventions to let people know the products. In this case, a visitor who visits the exhibition or convention walks around the exhibition and watches carefully the products that a visitor is interested in. But, as it is hard to get the detailed information about the products in the exhibition due to its time and space restriction, a company which exhibits its products makes the paper-type catalogues with the detailed information about the products and distributes those to supplement that restriction in general.
[3] At that time, a visitor who visits the exhibition gets each catalogue from the several companies and after the exhibition, sees and reads those catalogues at home or office carefully and then obtains the more detailed information about the products and the company. However, the catalogue is limited in its space as it is distributed and a company shall cover the additional expense for the paper-type catalogue. Also, a visitor feels inconvenience to take those catalogues in a bag, and it is worried to lose. And, as a type of catalogues is not unified, there is difficulty in grouping and keeping. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[4] This invention is originated to solve the above problems and pursues to provide a system and method of providing electronic catalogues than the paper- type catalogues.
[5] According to this invention, a visitor who visits the exhibition need not collect any paper-type catalogues, after the exhibition a visitor can access to the on-line server and see or download the electronic catalogues. Technical Solution
[6] To achieve the above purpose, a system providing electronic catalogues according to this invention is installed for each product exhibited to correspond to the number of the electronic catalogues. [48] The user DB (41) can include the personal information such as the name, address, contract, user ID and password of the customers and companies that access to the administration server (30) and sign in.
[49]
[50] The exhibition DB (42) can save the data such as the name, time, place, sponsors and etc of the exhibition where the company exhibits its products and the exhibition ID.
[51] The catalogue DB (43) can save the electronic catalogues that the company uploads, the catalogue ID and the summary of the catalogues.
[52] Desirably, the server (30) creates the customer directory (44) and the company directory (45) for each registered customer and company as a member and saves the data to be provided for the customer and the company each. It'll be explained later again for the data.
[53] As well, the administration server (31) has a basic display part (37) such as CRT or
LCD for screen displays and an input part (38) such as a keyboard for inserting information. The reference number (39), as a communication interface, performs the transmission/receipt of the data connecting to network physically.
[54] According to this invention, the administration server (30) communicates with the exhibition hall server (50) installed in the exhibition hall where the products (100) are exhibited via network. According to the example of this invention, the RF terminal (60) attached in each product (100) exhibited in the exhibition hall is more equipped, and the RF terminal (60) reads the RF card (70) a visitor who visits the exhibition holds and interprets the card.
[55] The exhibition hall server (50) , as D3 shows, includes a controller (51) which controls each part, a basic display device (52) such as CRT or LCD, an input device (53) such as a keyboard to insert information and a communication interface (54) connected to network physically for access to the administration server (30).
[56] And the exhibition hall server (50) includes the several RF terminals (60) installed in the designated scope of the exhibition and a local area transmitting and receiving device (55) which performs the local area mobile communications. The local area transmitting and receiving device (55) includes the followings to transmit the data in the local area mobile communication network such as Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) desirably, Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), Bluetooth, Wireless LANs, and Dedicated Short Range Communication. As those technical organizations are well known, the detailed explanation is omitted.
[57] The storage unit (56) of the exhibition hall server (50) can save the exhibition ID
(56a), the catalogue ID (56b), the user ID (56c), the serial number of RF card (56d), and the serial number of RF terminal (56e) for working as the picture shows, as well.
[58] The RF terminal (60) is installed and attached for each product (100) exhibited in the exhibition, but it does not mean that RF terminal (60) is combined with the product (100) physically or electrically, and it is a grouping that each RF terminal is appointed to each product (100). Desirably, the RF terminal (60) can be installed for each product (100) or for each product group or unit. It will be decided in accordance with a classification and contents of the electronic catalogue provided to the customers.
[59] D4 shows a rough organization of the RF terminal (60) in a diagram. According to the diagram, the RF terminal (60) in accordance with this example includes Microprocessor (61), Fluorescent display element or Display such as LCD for displaying the simple information (62), a key pad combined with characters and numbers to insert information and Memory (64).
[60] And, the RF terminal (60) includes RF reader part (65) to read information of RF card (70) and Local area wireless communication module (66) to transmit/receive the data to the exhibition hall server (50) via the local area wireless communication network.
[61] The RF reader part (65) is to read RF card (70) a visitor holds and interpret the data.
The RF card (70) includes ROM, RAM, EEPROM and antennas, is available for reading and writing, and is a non contact type card using an electromagnetic induction method by an antenna.
[62] As the organizations of the RF card (70) and RF terminal (60) that interprets the RF card are well known, no more detailed explanation will be followed. This example shows RF card (70) and RF terminal (60) but, this invention is not limited to, IrDA (Infrared Data Association) module, Magnetic card, Fingerprints recognition, 3-dimensional barcode and etc can be applied to.
[63] A process providing the electronic catalogues according to the examples of this invention will be explained using a system having the same organization as above.
[64] D5 shows a process that the company uploads the electronic catalogues in a diagram according to the examples of this invention. Referring to the drawing, first, the company accesses to the administration server (30) via the company terminal (20), registers as a member at the web page supported by the web managing part (32) and logs in. (Step S200). At this time, the member registration & authentication part (33) saves the information of the company in users DB (41) and performs the member authentication for logged in members.
[65] The exhibition DB (42) of the administration server (30) has the saved basic information such as a title and schedule for the exhibition to be held and the web managing part (32) can provide the web page that describes a list for the exhibition via the company terminal (20). If there is a company which wants to participate in the exhibition, the company clicks the exhibition of the lists provided, checks the detailed information such as a place, schedule, and registers the participation of the exhibition via a prescribed process. (Step S210).
[66] The directory managing part (34) of the administration server (30) creates the company directory (45) for the company's participating registration of the exhibition (Step S220). As D6 shows, this company directory (45) can include the company information (45a) including the name, address, representative and products of the company, the exhibition information (45b) including the basic information of the exhibition, the electronic catalogue account (45c) that saves the electronic catalogues the participated company uploads and CRM report account (45d) that can save CRM report created as the administration server (30) analyze the click stream of the customer. The electronic catalogue account (45c) and CRM report account (45d), if the company registers the exhibition participation, can be activated and save the data. The electronic catalogue account (45c) has, as follows, the electronic catalogues that the company uploads and the matching data of the company and the exhibition, and the CRM report account (45d) has CRM report that the administration server (30) creates and the matching data between the company and the exhibition.
[67] Next, when the company directory (45) is created, for example, the company selects its company directory and uploads the electronic catalogues (Step S230). This uploading of the electronic catalogues can be performed using the ordinary file uploading function, and the uploading of the electronic catalogues can be organized with word file documents such as MS-Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Hangul, image files such as JPG5BMP, TIF, GIF and PDF, hyper media files like HTML, HTM or XML and the combination of those files, but it is not limited to this example.
[68] As above, when the company upload the electronic catalogue, the catalogue processing part (35) of the administration server (30) gives its own catalogue ID to the uploaded electronic catalogue (Step S240).
[69] And more desirably, the catalogue processing part (35), as the followings, inserts
CRM tag into the electronic catalogue to analyze the personal information and propensity of the customer who accesses to the electronic catalogue, and saves the information in the catalogue DB (43) (Step S250). The CRM tag is a standard to analyze the customer's selected information, and as it is a well known technique, n more detailed explanation will be followed. The electronic catalogue account (45c) activated in the company directory (45) keeps the record data of the electronic catalogues.
[70] Next, the information about the electronic catalogue the company uploads shall be notified of the exhibition where the product is actually exhibited. For this, the administration server (30) transmits the corresponding catalogue ID to the exhibition hall server (50) connected with network via a communication interface (39) (Step S260). At that time, it is desirable that the given exhibition ID for the exhibition is transmitted together, but, the exhibition ID can be notified in advance regardless of the catalogue ID.
[71] The exhibition hall server (50) receives the catalogue ID, for example and transmits the corresponding catalogue ID for each RF terminal (60) installed in the product (100) corresponding to the electronic catalogue, and the RF terminal (60) saves it (Step S270). In detail, the exhibition hall server (50) matches the received catalogue ID with the serial number of RF terminal (60) installed in the product (100) corresponding to the electronic catalogue and saves it in the storage unit. Simultaneously, the administration server (50) transmits the catalogue ID to the corresponding RF terminal (60) via the local area transmitting/receiving device (55) and RF terminal (60) receives it via the local area wireless communication module (66) and saves it in the memory (64). This example shows that the catalogue ID saves in the RF terminal (60), but, as its alternative plan, the catalogue ID is not saved in the RF terminal (60), but, it can be saved in the exhibition hall server (60) matched with the catalogue ID and the serial number of RF terminal. This transformed example is predictable whoever has an ordinary knowledge in the corresponding technology, so, it shall be regarded that it is included in the technique of this invention.
[72] Hereby, the exhibition registration of the company and the uploading of the electronic catalogues are completed, and the visitor who visits the exhibition can get the catalogues the visitor wants with just holding the RF card (70). The process is showed in D7. [73] Referring to D7, a visitor of the exhibition gets issued of RF card (70) in the information center of the exhibition first (Step S300). For example, the visitor fills up the application with his user ID and the basic information and hands the application in. And a guide gives a serial number of RF card (70) to the user ID of the visitor.
[74] Desirably, the visitor accesses to the administration server (30) with his customer terminal (10) before entering the exhibition, registers as a member and gets the user ID. As an alternative plan, the visitor can register as a member based on his personal information via the exhibition hall server instantly, and get the user ID.
[75] The user ID of the visitor is matched with the serial number of the issued RF card
(70) and saved in the storage unit of the exhibition hall server (50).
[76] As an alternative plan, the exhibition hall server (50) creates the other temporary ID corresponding to the user ID above, matches it, saves in the storage unit and uses it. This transformed example is predictable in this technology.
[77] The visitor who got the RF card (70) walks around the exhibition hall and when the visitor finds the product whose catalogue is needed, the visitor makes his RF card (70) access to RF terminal (60) and makes RF terminal (60) interpret his RF card (70) (Step S310). And, RF reader part (65) of RF terminal (60) interprets the serial number saved in RF card (70) and the interpreted serial number of RF card is transmitted with the catalogue ID saved in the memory (64) of RF terminal (60) to the exhibition hall server (50) via Local area wireless communication module (66) (Step S320). RF card (70) is showed as an example of this example, but an ordinary transportation card can be used, and in this case, RF terminal (60) can interpret the personal information like a resident registration number saved in the transportation card.
[78] The exhibition hall server (50) who receives the catalogue ID and card serial number by Local area transmitting/receiving device (55) extracts the user ID corresponding to the above serial number from the storage unit (56) and transmits the exhibition ID, the user ID and the catalogue ID to the administration server (30) connected to network (Step S340).
[79] The catalogue processing part (35) of the administration server (30) that accepted the above data extracts the electronic catalogue corresponding to the catalogue ID from the catalogue DB (43) and saves it in the customer directory (44) corresponding to the received user ID. As an alternative plan, it is available to set a link to the electronic catalogue and provide the link than to save in the customer directory.
[80] After finishing providing the electronic catalogues as above, the administration se rver (30) sends a message that informs the visitors or the customers corresponding to the user IDs via non-illustrated way of the availability of providing and obtaining the electronic catalogues (Step S 360). These messages can be sent with a way of sending messages to the customer's email address and/or mobile phone numbers. [81] The visitor or the customer who receives the message can access to the administration server (30) via the customer terminal (10) at home or office and get the electronic catalogues. This process is showeds in D8.
[82] Referring to the drawing, first, the customer accesses to the administration server
(30) via the customer terminal (10) and logs in. (Step S400)
[83] Next, the customer accesses his customer directory (44) that the administration server (30) provides and searches the lists (Step S410). For example, if the customer opens the customer directory (44), the administration server (30) can provide a list of the electronic catalogues for each exhibition or company that the customer visited.
[84] And, the customer selects one of the electronic catalogue lists that the customer wants (Step S420), according to the selection, the administration server (30) provides the corresponding electronic catalogue saved in the customer directory (44) to the customer terminal (10) (Step S430). This action can be achieved from that the administration server (30) provides the electronic catalogues in a web page type such as HTML and the customer terminal (10) displays it using a web browser, but this is not limited to it. Desirably, it can be achieved from that the customer can download the electronic catalogue to the customer terminal (10) (Step S430).
[85] The customer can classify or arrange the above electronic catalogues saved in the customer directory (44) under the necessity. For example, the administration server (30) can classify or save the electronic catalogues in the customer directory or creates a separate folder and classify or save the electronic catalogues in the newly separate folder upon the customer's request.
[86] On the other hand, when the customer selects one of the electronic catalogues in the above step S420, the clicking signal is analyzed by the stream processing part (36) of the administration server (30). That is, if the customer clicks the electronic catalogue, CRM tag information inserted in the above electronic catalogue is sent to the stream processing part (36) and analyzed (Step S460).
[87] Next, the stream processing part (36) makes a CRM report according to the above
CRM tag information, sends a report to CRM report account (45d) of the company directory (45) and makes the CRM report account save that report.
[88] The CRM report includes the name, address, job, age, sex, user ID, contact of the customer and the exhibition visited date, the opened catalogue titles, the catalogue ID, the access date and etc, but not limited to those.
[89] Accordingly, the exhibition participated company can get these CRM reports via access to the company directory (45) via its own company terminal (20). More desirably, it can create, except for the customer directory of the company directory, a directory of a supervising company which supervises the exhibition and provide the above CRM data here, simultaneously. The supervising company can use the data for the exhibition effects analysis with analyzing the basic data about the visitors and the companies.
[90] D9 shows a rough organization of a system providing the electronic catalogues in a diagram according to the other desirable examples of this invention. The item in this drawing marked the same with the fore-illustrated drawing indicates the same organization.
[91] Referring to D9, of this example, the product (100) equipped in the exhibition has
RF transponder (80). The RF transponder (80) includes a reading/writing memory that is able to program electromagnetically. As an alternative plan, the RF transponder (80) can be a typical RFID transponder that a particular identifier is programmed in the nonvolatile memory. The serial number of a transponder or the ID of the electronic catalogues will be saved in the above memory. .
[92] In this example, the visitor has RF terminal (90), and the organization of the RF terminal (90) is the same as showed in D4. The RF terminal (90) interprets the recorded data in RF transponder (80), processes it and transmits it to the exhibition hall server (50).
[93] The method providing the electronic catalogues using the system of this example that has the same organization as above is showed in DlO. The same reference sign as showed in D5 shows the same step that processes the same process.
[94] According to this example, at step S500, the catalogue ID is given to the RF transponder (80) attached in each product (100). In this case if the RF transponder (80) has the reading/writing available memory, the catalogue ID can be saved in each RF transponder (80). This offer of the catalogue ID can be performed using RF terminal (90) or a separate programming inserting tool. If the RF transponder (80) is programmed when manufactured and it can only read a serial number of transponder (identification number), the catalogue ID is matched with the serial number of the transponder and the data is saved in the exhibition hall server (50).
[95] DI l shows a rough process that a visitor who visits the exhibition gets the electronic catalogues using RF terminal (90
[96] Referring to the drawing, the visitor is given RF terminal (90) that saves the user ID or is matched with the visitor's user ID (Step S600).
[97] Next, the visitor accesses his RF terminal (90) to RF transponder (80) attached in the product (100) the visitor wants, makes RF terminal interpret the serial number of RF transponder (80) (Step S610). If the catalogue ID is saved in the above RF transponder (80), RF terminal (90) will read the catalogue ID data. Ordinarily, RF transponder (80) receives the 1st RF frequency signal from the reader part of the RF terminal (90), extracts a power- source and address and generates the 2° RF frequency signal as a response. [98] The RF terminal (90) that interprets RF transponder (80) transmits the serial number of a transponder (or the catalogue ID) and the serial number of RF terminal (or the user ID) to the exhibition hall server (50) (Step S620).
[99] Next, the exhibition hall server (50) extracts the user ID corresponding to the serial number of RF terminal (Step S630) and the catalogue ID corresponding to the serial number of RF transponder (Step S640). If the user ID and the catalogue ID is transmitted from RF terminal (90) to the exhibition hall server (50), the above steps, S630 and S640, can be omitted.
[100] And, the actions after the exhibition hall server (50) transmits and processes the exhibition ID, user ID and catalogue ID to the administration server (30) are the same as showed above in the examples.
[101] D 12 shows a rough organization of the system providing the electronic catalogues according to the other examples of this invention. The same reference sign as showed above indicates the same sign.
[102] Referring to the drawing, RF terminal (60) installed in each product of this example directly communicates with the administration server (30) via Wireless communication network (1), not passing through the exhibition hall server. For this, RF terminal (60) is equipped with Wireless communication module (not illustrated) that can connect to the administration server (30) passing through a repeater.
[103] To perform this example, it is preferable that the user ID is within the RF card (70) the visitor holds, but, the matching data of the user ID and the serial number of RF card can be saved in the above administration server (30). And it is preferable that the electronic catalogue ID is saved in the RF terminal (60), but the matching data of the catalogue ID and the serial number of RF terminal can be saved in the above administration server (30).
[104] Accordingly, if RF terminal (60) interprets the user ID of RF card (70), it transmits the catalogue ID saved in RF terminal (60) with the above user ID to the administration server (30) via Wireless communication network (1). Next, the administration server (30) provides the electronic catalogue corresponding to the above catalogue ID to the customer directory corresponding to the user ID.
[105] As an alternative plan, the RF terminal (60) can interpret the serial number of RF card and transmit it with the serial number of RF card to the administration server (30). The administration server (30) can extract the user ID and the catalogue ID each corresponding to the serial numbers of each card and terminal.
[106] D 13 shows a rough organization of the system providing the electronic catalogues according to the other examples of this invention. The same reference sign as showed above indicates the same sign.
[107] Referring to the drawing, RF terminal (90) the visitor holds in directly com- municates with the administration server (30) via Mobile communication network (1), not passing through the exhibition hall server. For this, RF terminal (90) is equipped with Mobile communication module (not illustrated) that can connect to the administration server (30) passing through a repeater. Desirably, the above RF terminal (90) can be a mobile communication terminal as the same as a mobile phone a visitor has. In this case, the mobile communication terminal is organized to recognize RF transponder (80) equipped with RF reader module, or to interpret an identification tag for each product equipped with an infrared recognition module.
[108] To perform this example, it is preferable that the user ID is within the RF card (90) the visitor holds, but, the matching data of the user ID and the serial number of RF card can be saved in the above administration server (30). More desirably, the serial number of the RF terminal (90) can include the identification number or phone number of the mobile phone.
[109] And it is preferable that the electronic catalogue ID is saved in the RF transponder
(or identification tag), but the matching data of the catalogue ID and the serial number of RF transponder (or identification number) can be saved in the above administration server (30).
