Abstract

A composition for use as a chemical and biological sensor, a method of making a probe, and the probe are provided. The composition on the tip of the probe is adapted to detect interactions between a sensing agent and a sensed agent on a scanned surface. The composition comprises a reactive ester, a reactive agent selected from the group consisting of reactive aldehydes and photoreactive compounds, and a tethering agent coupled to the reactive ester and reactive agent.
