Abstract

Systems and methods for concealing and revealing a control module of a portable electronic device (20) which will simultaneously function as a means of changing the state of the device's operating system. Concealing the control module of the portable electronic device (20) provides for protecting the keys (25) from damage as well as inadvertent activation. At the same time, the concealment action automatically triggers the switching of the operating system from an active state to an inactive state. When the control module (20) of the portable electronic device is revealed, the keys (25) are accessible and the operating system is switched to an active state. Embodiments of the patent include pivoting method and apparatus, sliding method and apparatus and covering method and apparatus.
